Ji Liu (pianist) regarding user Smerus's recent deletion suggestion[edit]

As the original creator of this page back in 2014, I have been overseeing all the contributions and edits to the page from time to time over these years. After looked at user Smerus' suggestion of deletion due to breaching wikipedia's notability policy on May 19th, I have once again checked all the information provided on the page deliberately and carefully. In conclusion, I can't agree it at all. All the information provided on this page is correctly quoted with industry's leading websites. Although I admitted that there are much more updated news about this page to be added, such as in the awards sections: it should be updated with news such as the nomination of the best classical artist of the year at London's Global Awards in 2018; 30 under 30 best young classical artists by Apple Music in 2018; Associate of the Royal Academy of Music (ARAM) in recognition of the contribution of the classical music industry in 2019 and etc.; also in the album section, Pure Chopin album is released in 2016, and Fire and Water album is released in 2018 by Classic FM and Decca Records, these will be added shortly by me. My initiate is to leave these information to be added by more professional Wikipedia contributors as they know the best ways to make the Wikipedia society healthy and thriving. But I will add them first so that for users such as Smerus, this lacking of up-to-date information won't confuse him as lacking of notability. After I have carefully reviewed Wikipedia's policy, I don't see any issues this page would breach the issue user Smerus raised, however I am grateful for address this matter as this would help people to contribute and update the information about this page.

Please do not remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Ji Liu (pianist), without resolving the problem that the template refers to, or giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. May 2020[edit]

This is your only warning; if you purposefully and blatantly harass fellow Wikipedian(s) again, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. After nearly 6 years editing wikipedia, showing no interest in anything other than Ji Liu (pianist), you suddenly develop an interest in everything related to Smerus right after he proposes the article for deletion and reports you as a suspected sock puppet. Thanks Cabayi (talk) for taking your time and give me your kind advice. In regarding to Dr. Conway, I have nothing against him personally as firstly, I don't know him and secondly, I respect his contribution to the wikipedia society. It mighty just be my own feeling, but don't you think his accusation of my account being a sock puppet just because of someone else was editing the page I created was related to the subject, would result a conclusion that I am the same person as all the other users , and that would lead to a speedy deletion of the page is way too explicit and non sense? As one can see, although I created the page in 2014, however I didn't contribute much to the page after that. Plus, DJRafe rewrote the whole page in style of a classical pianist, to whom I am appreciated. Then, all the other contributions the page were updated and made by other Wiki editors. Therefore, I don't see any real conflict of interest, even if I the admin would suspect me having any relationship with Ji Liu. I am barely just a creator of the page in which I find mutual rewarding both of the subject and the public.

Secondly, I don't mean to take any bad intention on Smerus' page. But as he started to accuse me as a sock puppet with the only evidence of me being created only one page, I therefore started to edit his page as my first step into editing and contributing to Wikipedia's society. I have to say that I am too busy to get into the fussy world of editing. However, when the notification alerted me with explicit accusation about me and the page I created, I realised that I should contribute more to this society from now by not only reading articles, but also contributing them. As I learn the lesson from the long-winded discussion with Dr. Conway on here, I should carry on the responsibility in contributing my work on Wikipedia so that people like Dr. Conway wouldn't accuse me as a SPA in the future. Everything has a start, and by the way, thank you for saying and understanding that an apprentice like me on here couldn't be expected to have the professional editing skills as good as Dr. Conway does.

I would heartily accept your advice - and I will carry on learning editing Wikipedia in a more professional way. I would continue not to edit Ji Liu (pianist) page as I had been doing over last 5 years. But, I am confident that I write things in a neutral and non-promotional manner in my last edit a few days ago. However, I would continue to leave this work to other Wikipedia user to contribute to the page as I always do. Maybe one day, you, or even Dr. Conway would be kindly contribute your work to one of the pages I create. With great thanks. And if my words have ever hurt anyone, I apologise. I understand that you may feel that you have been picked on for higher scrutiny. If you look at the SPI case, Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Master Music Publications/Archive you'll see:

Master Music Publications was blocked for having a promotional name and making promotional edits. They were in discussions to have the block lifted subject to a name change & a requirement that they would avoid COI topics. Instead of pursuing this they abandoned the discussions, created a new account as Cabin2015 and continued editing MMP's client list, ignoring their block.

When you look at Special:Contributions/Master Music Publications and Special:Contributions/Cabin2015 you can easily pick out the promotional edits for MMP's clients. Three of those clients have editors who are entirely focussed on their articles - Artur Cimirro, Luka Okros, and Ji Liu (pianist).

Be honest with yourself, as a bystander, how would you read this situation, and the nature of those 3 editors, on first sight?

Of the three editors:

Oberman admitted on the SPI to being Artur Cimirro;
Moltomusic shares a name with Luka Okros's business (and got the same soft block that MMP started with); and
you, who have edited Ji Liu (pianist) and nothing else - a WP:SPA (single purpose account).

You've avoided the questions on your conflict of interest by pointing to other contributors to the article. Please address the question directly. Do you have a connection which should be disclosed? Cabayi (talk) 07:43, 22 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Cabayi for your explanation and question. Firstly, I would like to claim the fact that I have no connection which should be disclosed. As an estate developer, while I greatly enjoy listening to music and beyond, I am not involved in the business you mentioned in the SPI check (i.e. music publications, promotions, marketing). And I have no relation to Ji Liu (pianist), except I listened to and play his recordings as I enjoy his talent. As DJRafe pointed earlier in 2015, I was one of Ji Liu (pianist) fans at the time, and I would wish all the best of him in his thriving career. And my initiation of creating a Wikipedia page for this artist, back in 2014, was merely something that I thought I might like to do. For your information, Smerus accused me with the ownership of the profile photo in the page I owned and asked for deletion, by saying that it looks like a photo owned by a professional photographer - presumably I was Ji Liu (pianist) or a SPA. However, this photo is also my own artwork on Adobe PS as my tribute to the artist. If I am not wrong, I think people CAN contribute Wikipedia to what they truly believe and enjoy. However, I learnt the lesson that I should contribute more often in my own expert field down here.

I have looked closely to the previous versions of Ji Liu (pianist) page since 2014, I do see that Cabin2015, later to be spotted as Master Music Publications by other users, that edited a number of notes in the page recently. To avoid any COI, since I can't edit this particular page due to the suspect COI as you raised, I would suggest you or the admin to undo all the contributions they did as well to avoid any promotional materials as well as to remove any external references related to that user. While I believe the user doesn't mean to make promotions here but to provide updated information (at least on this particular page I created), as this has raised deep concerns from other Wikipedians, admin might like to undo those to the previous versions.

To clarify my COI, I would be happy to proceed an identification check to prove my identity should you advise how to move forward - although it is an online platform, as it does hurt not only my personal feeling, and words and actions on this platform should be overseen with justice and fair, rather than an elite group of people trying to make accusation to someone who would like to contribute things with good intentions. This is my last response to this case. If there's any feasible and concrete advice from you and/or other Wikipedians to clarify my innocence, I shall be hugely appreciated. Thanks.
