Probably not. I have trouble seeing that anyone would come to Wikipedia looking for articles on PDXHLs. Far more likely, such a person would be looking for NRHP articles in PDX, and that need is already covered by categories. NRHP - Puerto Rico[edit]

Hi. You recently made edits to National Register of Historic Places listings in southern Puerto Rico. In particular THIS one (NRHP = 13000013 [Casa Vives]) and THIS one (NRHP = 13000638 [Edificio Empresas Ferre] and 13000639 [Edificio Municipal de la Playa de Ponce]). However, I cannot find any documentation in the NHRP focus database to attest to these new entries. I have been creating articles on the NRHP sites in Ponce and would like to do the same with those 3 recent entries you made. Can you tell me what source you used for your entries? Thanks. Neighborhood boundaries[edit]

I have to say, I am a fan of your photography and I also find the maps you create for historic districts very helpful. Adding items to NRHP lists[edit]

Hi, I see you've been adding new items to NRHP lists recently. Thanks for the hard work keeping our lists up to date! I notice, however, that when you're adding lists, you seem to be manually remembering all the tables. If you have some other system to do this, that's fine, but I just wanted to bring this script to your attention if you didn't know about it. The way it works is it puts a button labelled "Renumber list" at the top of any NRHP list, and if you click on it, it will automatically edit the page to fix the numbering. It shortens the time to add a new listing because you can just add the listing in alphabetical order without caring what number it's supposed to be, then save the page and click the button. When you reload the page, the numbering should be fixed! :). Feel free to ignore this message if you don't want to install the script, but I just wanted to lend a helping hand that might save you a lot of time in the future. If you want to add the script simply add the text

Refnums in NRHP row[edit]

Just wanted to point your attention to this edit. If you include comments in the refnum parameter, it will mess up the code for the link. Instead, multiple reference numbers should be in a list separated by commas with the one you want to be displayed first, e.g. |refnum=12345678, 87654321, ....--Dudemanfellabra (talk) 21:18, 25 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I defer to your expertise that using comments in that way could cause logic problems (the code is far too dense for my limited expertise to step through). However, cases where I've used comments within the refnum parameter (predating your insertion of NPSFocus links into the template) have turned out fine: for example see the rows for Simon Benson House and Ladd Carriage House in SW Portland. I also have a concern with your CSL syntax because it denies editors the opportunity to offer additional context such as why there are multiple refnums.
Anyhow, thanks for addressing your concerns with my edit in a collaborative way, by considering the merits of what I did, making narrow adjustments, and discussing with me. Far too many editors would simply revert and move on. I don't always agree with your editorial opinions (that would be kind of unlikely for any two editors), but you always engage in the editorial process really well. — Ipoellet (talk) 16:33, 26 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm it seems you're correct. I guess comments are parsed differently than I thought they were. I was under the impression that they were passed to the templates and then ignored, not the other way around. I was wrong. Wiki Loves Pride[edit]

You are invited to participate in Wiki Loves Pride, a global campaign to create and improve LGBT-related content at Wikipedia during the month of June, culminating with a multinational edit-a-thon on June 21. The project is being spearheaded by two organizers with roots in the Pacific Northwest. Meetups are being organized in some cities, or you can participate remotely. Wikimedia Commons will also be hosting an LGBT-related photo challenge.

In Portland, there are two ways to contribute. One is a photography campaign called "Pride PDX", for pictures related to LGBT culture and history. The Wiki Loves Pride edit-a-thon will be held on Saturday, June 21 from noon–4pm at Smith Memorial Student Union, Room 236 at Portland State University. Prior Wikipedia editing is not required; assistance will be available the day of the event. Attendees should bring their own laptops and cords.

FYI, I know where one of the two petroglyph boulders is located and will get a photo next time I'm down that way. Will also look for the other boulder while I’m there. It’s supposed to be within 700 ft of the first, but that’s a pretty big search area when you’re looking for petroglyphs. Interstate Bridge[edit]

Regarding this edit, how did you determine that only the original 1916–17 span is listed on the National Register? I've always figured both were included in the listing, and I have not seen any information to the contrary. However, I have not seen the nomination form, and don't know where to obtain it. The usual link for obtaining such forms – which, modified for this refnum, is this – goes, in this instance, to a two-page HAER Inventory form, not the NRHP nomination or registration form. That form is dated April 1980 (more than 2 years before the bridge was listed) and does not even mention the NRHP, so it sheds no light on this matter. Although I agree that distinguishing between the two spans when writing about the bridge is worthwhile (and indeed I have spent more time doing so in my uploads of photos of the bridge than other people have, providing detailed descriptions, such as here), I'm interested to know your source for the statement that only the original span is included in the NRHP listing. Mildly embarrassing, because now that you ask me I can't remember how I got that information, and I suppose it clearly needs a citation. Going back to look at sources again, here's what I found from OPRD (in the "Current/Other Names" field) and WSDOT (p.2). I don't know how you assess the value of these references, but if they're not authoritative enough, I'm okay with removing the word "northbound" from the two lists. — Ipoellet (talk) 17:35, 15 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Those are fairly authoritative sources; I just wish they included prose text on this subject, to make it clear, instead of just being a one-word notation in a list. After all, it's conceivable the WashDOT list only mentions the 1916 span for simplicity, to avoid confusion over listing "two" bridges (1916 and 1958) under a single name/entry in their list. It is not actually stated that the listing only covers the 1916 bridge, merely implied. The OPRD page – which I tried unsuccessfully to find before I wrote you the first time, but access seems to require an account, something I lack – is slightly more convincing, because the "second date" field could, I suppose, have been used to mention the second bridge (although that wouldn't be the normal usage of that field) but was not used in that way. Because I'm not quite sold, I guess I'll stay on the fence a bit and say it's okay to leave "northbound" in the two lists, but that the article about the bridge itself should definitely not include any statement saying that only the older span is included in the NRHP listing until and unless definitive information on that point comes to light. I just noticed that p. 1 of the WashDOT list includes separate northbound and southbound entries for a pair of bridges on I-82 between Benton and Umatilla Counties and another pair on Route 20 in Wenatchee. That's a clearer indication that the omission of the southbound Interstate Bridge (bridge no. 5/1W) was intentional in that list. SJ Morg (talk) 08:14, 16 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
No account is necessary to access the Oregon Historic Sites Database, or at least most of it. It's a great resource, so I recommend you try again. Here's the link I use to get to it: http://heritagedata.prd.state.or.us/historic/. Also, for what it's worth, at the time the bridge was listed on the NRHP (1982), the southbound span (built 1958) was well under the Register's 50-year age standard. If the 50-year standard were rigid, the Portland Building wouldn't be on the National Register. Regardless, in some respects, the two bridges are considered "one" bridge, but I don't know how NPS typically handles cases of semi-twin bridges (OK, 'paired' bridges) for NRHP consideration. Regarding the OPRD database, sorry for the confusion, but it was when I tried the URL without "historic" that it indicated I needed to log in. However, even when I included the URL you just gave, and got the search page, every time I entered parameters to try to find the page for this bridge (and I tried several different names), I always got a pop-up window saying "An error has occurred" and "TypeError: 'undefined' is not an object", which I couldn't make sense of. I guessed it might be a problem with my browser (my main one is Safari), and just now, I confirmed that suspicion. I tried again in a different browser (Firefox) and it worked fine.
