Copyright violation[edit]

Please don't add images of album covers to any article other than the indivual articles on the releases concerned; anywhere else and they violate copyright. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 21:44, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image tagging for Image:Ashanti - Happy-video 012 0001.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Ashanti - Happy-video 012 0001.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 06:05, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I went through your changes, and couldn't see anything that was either substantial and sourced or a genuine improvement. You added grossly PoV claims, changed good Wikipedia formatting to bad, good English style to bad, etc. Please read the relevant parts of WP:MOS and WP:NPOV. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 08:18, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you don't stop this you're going to find yourself blocked from editing for dsruption. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 21:46, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You did things like changing "gold" to "Gold" for no good reason, making changes against the MoS (such as "&" for "and", and linking terms in headers), adding PoV & unsourced stuff such as "In 2002, she was also acclaimed as the "Princess of Hip Hop and R&B." <!-- You don't have to AGREE with this statement but it is a TRUE! -->" and "Ashanti's mother discovered her daughter's full singing potential when she heard Ashanti singing Mary J. Blige's "Reminisce" to herself at age twelve", removing {{fact}} templates without supplying references, and other disruptions to contrent and formatting. Your edits are, frankly, a mess from beginning to end — there's nothing in what you've added or changed that should stay. I repeat: if you don't stop insisting on reverting to your version, you will be blocked. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 22:03, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

But, with regard to the spources that you claim to exist, you have to explain then, not mnerely insert material and expect other editors to mind-read the sources. There are so many other problems that you're inserting on inserting, for which there's even less excuse, that it's pointless to respond in detail. Don't revert again. If you want to add material for which sources are given or at least explained, then do so. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 22:28, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Of course I know nothing about this person, nor do I want to; what I know about are Wikipedia policy and guidelines, and the rules of English. Those are what's at issue here. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 08:56, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You always revert things to the way you want them for no reason whatsoever. --ShantiLuva

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Thewayiloveyoued8.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Thewayiloveyoued8.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 02:29, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bit of advice[edit]

You've removed the tag placed on Image:Coachcarterashanti.jpg several times. In case you weren't aware, this tag is added by a bot, and the bot will keep re-adding the tag until the issue is dealt with. In this particular case, the problem with the rationale is that it does not specify what article the rationale is referring to (every non-free image needs a different rationale for each article it's used in). If you fix that problem, the bot will stop replacing the tag. Natalie (talk) 00:20, 14 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not which part of the article, but which specific article the photo is being used for. The rationale has to apply specifically to an individual article, and the name of that article has to be stated in the rationale. Natalie (talk) 00:41, 14 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The image in question has a past history as being an orphan picture and this is a means of anchoring it. The use of illustration is an accepted aspect of developing an article. FWiW, the removal of the image was done as part of a challenge on another article. Bzuk (talk) 20:27, 15 May 2008 (UTC).[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for Image:Ashanti - Only You 007 0001.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:Ashanti - Only You 007 0001.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stifle (talk) 19:29, 15 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:Foolish Ashanti.jpg[edit]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Foolish Ashanti.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Stifle (talk) 19:48, 15 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Notice

The file File:Normal teenpeopler 07.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

unused, low-res, no obvious use

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 9 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Normal teenpeopler 07.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Normal teenpeopler 07.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{permission pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 07:33, 15 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
