Your opinion welcome at deletion review for Plot of Les Mis

After Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Plot of Les Misérables closed as a deletion, I'm challenging the way the closing administrator acted as in violation of Wikipedia rules. Your participation is welcome at that discussion, Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2007 July 14. Please keep in mind that only arguments related to either new information or to how Wikipedia rules were violated or not violated in closing the discussion will be considered. It isn't a replay of the original AfD. I'm familiar with WP:CANVASSING and I am alerting everyone who participated in that discussion to the deletion review. I won't contact anyone again on this topic, and I apologize if you consider this note distracting. Noroton 04:31, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

209.204.78.11

Thank you for making a report about 209.204.78.11 (talk · contribs · block log) at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Reporting and removing vandalism is vital to the functioning of Wikipedia and all users are encouraged to revert, warn, and report vandalism. However, administrators generally only block users if they have received a recent final warning (one that mentions that the user may be blocked) and they have recently vandalized after that warning was given. The reported user has not yet been blocked because it appears this has not occurred yet. If this user continues to vandalize after their final warning, please report them to the AIV noticeboard again. Thank you. TigerShark 23:59, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

I checked back there and WjBscribe put a test5 note 4 minutes before you posted in my talk page, although, I think it didn't work.--JForget 00:02, 15 July 2007 (UTC)
You're right they are now blocked. That is a mistake by the admin, as the vandalism had stopped after the final warning and over 20 minutes before the block. It is also the first time that this IP has been blocked so a 24 hour block should have been the maximum, but the admin has given them a 72 hour block. If you get a chance, please have a look through the blocking guidelines yourself and I am sorry that the other admin's incorrect actions have caused this confusion. Cheers TigerShark 00:09, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Nice to have people declare I'm wrong on a talkpage I may never visit rather than actually discussing it with me. WjBscribe 02:05, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Adminship

Hi, I notice you've been doing great work and was wondering if you were willing to give adminship another shot? We can always use more people helping out with the extra tools. Your last RfA was some months ago, you seem to have addressed all the comments made at the time and I note that a couple of people suggested you should try again in the summer. Well summer is upon us (not that you'd know that if you lived in England - hope you're having better weather in Canada). If you're still interested I'd be more than happy to nominate you if you'd like that. WjBscribe 02:05, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Well in my judgment you're ready for it now. But if you'd rather wait that's fine. The offer stands - drop me a note whenever you're ready if you want me to nominate you. WjBscribe 02:14, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

Hey, I've put the GA on hold, there are a few attribution issues that are particularly worrying. Let me know if I can help progress it, or when you're ready for me to re-review it. All the best, The Rambling Man 17:52, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

Hello again. I'm not sure how much work has been done since I've been away for a few days but I'm just popping by to remind you that unless my comments are addressed by 6pm (GMT) Wednesday evening, I will be obliged to fail the GA for the time being. Don't hesitate to get in touch to discuss this further if you require. All the best, The Rambling Man 11:46, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

Lists should be converted into categories

Since you are an administrator hopeful, I thought I would ask you if there is a policy or guideline that states lists should be deleted in favor of categorizing their contents? Wikipedia:Categories, lists, and series boxes, a guideline, seems to state that lists, categories and series boxes are to be used in synergy with eachother. It says nothing about deleting one in favor of the other. Since you advanced this argument at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of rhythm guitarists, and since policy at WP:Deletion#Deletion_discussion states "These processes are not decided through a head count, so participants should explain their opinion and refer to policy", I'm requesting information about the policy or guideline you derived this understanding from. Thank you very much. (Mind meal 03:41, 27 July 2007 (UTC))

C.Mulroney

JForget, thanks for taking the time to vote on the Caroline Mulroney article. I don't know if you are watching the page or not. I was the person who nominated it for deletion. You voted for a strong merger. I am unsure what there is to merge here. Now, not that I am supporting a merger, but if it were merged, could you suggest something for the Brian page? Again, thanks for taking the time.DDD DDD 02:37, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

Vistas High School

The article has been renamed correctly as Vistas High School Program. There is a discussion on a possible merge to its parent article at Klein ISD Merge. Your input is welcome. – Dreadstar 22:43, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

Hiya - I blocked this guy for 24 hours. Since you listed him as vandalism only, I wanted to let you know why I didn't indef block him - call it an inate soft heart; I like to think they ought to get a hard slap on the wrist before an indef block. I hope that a nice little short block will help them see the error of their ways. If not, I'll indef block him. I guess I'm a little cautious with indefs... Thanks for all the hard work today! - Philippe | Talk 23:29, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

Reverting edits to an IP's talk page by a "special" user of that IP

I don't understand this and similar edits by you. If this very special editor has a compulsion to witter away on his own IP's talk page about "bitches", "faggots", "Jesus", etc. (some of these even spelled correctly), let him. Sinebot will reveal that each of these verbal turds is by him, and maybe he'll get bored. Delete them, and he'll thrill to the notion that he's managed to offend you: you've fed the troll. -- Hoary 00:13, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Junk pros

I was making an afd for that article when you completed yours, so I have accidentally created a second afd. How do we fix that? - Dean Wormer 01:06, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

  • I reverted my edit to the article to clean out the extra template. - Dean Wormer 01:18, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
  • One more thing, I used twinkle, and it notified the author. I notice you didn't leave a notification, so I left mine, but I changed the link to point to the correct afd. I think that is as cleaned up as it will get. - Dean Wormer 01:22, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Adminship

Hi JForget, add me to the list of people who think you'd be an asset here as an administrator. I see many others have offered to nominate you. I think you'd do well with the tools, and you would really be able to help us out with a number of backlogs. I also think you're very well qualified for RfA. Would be great if you could consider standing for adminship -- Samir 00:51, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

I was just dropping to nudge you about this. We seem to be running low on WP:RFAs at the moment if you fancy doing something about that... I'm still willing to nominate you if you like, or will just support if you'd rather someone else did that. WjBscribe 00:16, 23 August 2007 (UTC)

Sure - whenever your ready. I suspect you'll do fine. As to Twinkle - no, as far as I know there are no problems with admins using Twinkle. If few do its because admin rollback is quicker and I guess people have less of a need for it - no need to report vandals etc. Also a lot of admins predate Twinkle and never bothered to add it to their monobooks. I'm pretty sure Wimt continues to use Twinkle a lot since becoming an admin though its not obvious from his edit summary. I'm sure he wouldn't mind if you asked him about it. Maybe once you're an admin Twinkle switches to using rollback and no longer marks those as "using TWINKLE"? WjBscribe 01:57, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

AfD Danish Music Awards

I apologize for wasting your time with that. You see, it was my first ever AfD nomination, and it was unnecessary (and possibly offensive to Danish people) for me to say it's not notable, and I shouldn't have even nominated it in the first place. Hopefully you'll see by this blunder and opt not to block me, for unlike others, I can admit when I am wrong. AR Argon 05:24, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

I understand why it wasn't deleted. There was a consensus to keep, and it seemed notable enough, though it wasn't tremendously asserted due to the lack of references. Are you an administrator? AR Argon 22:13, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
Well, I for one think you'd be a terrific sysop. You've shown clear understanding of policy, civility with other editors, and it seems you are interested in using the mop. Count me as a supporter. Well, anyways, back to my sandbox of limited possibilities. AR Argon 21:56, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

Cork Street deletion review

Hi, just wanted to give you the heads up that I have listed Cork Street for deletion review, based on the fact that no consensus was reached in the deletion discussion. I am writing this message to all contributors of the discussion, whether they voted keep or delete. -- Roleplayer 23:02, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

Quebec routes

Thanks for adding the browsing to the infoboxes. --NE2 02:01, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

I don't think any of those are reliable sources, although they are good for getting facts to check against others. I believe you about the second section of A-5; I think [1] is a good source for that: (Google translation)

"Indeed, the saturation of certain sections and deficiencies geometrical at many places on road 105 encouraged the Ministry to prolong, during last years, motorway 5 to chemin de la Rivière, in the municipality of La Pêche, and to build the skirting of the locality of Wakefield. However, a discontinuity of 8,6 kilometers remains between motorway 5 and it loop line of Wakefield."

It is a little strange that it's not on the maps, but if it's signed it certainly is considered an Autoroute by the MTQ. --NE2 22:00, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Fair use disputed for Image:Logo erabliere.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Logo erabliere.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:32, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Stephlapointe lamer185.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Stephlapointe lamer185.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 15:18, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Hi... My issue was the possible conflict of interest on the part of the editor User:SergeGalipeau. If he is who his username suggests he is, he should probably not be contributing to this topic. --Rrburke(talk) 02:38, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
