Zé Roberto

Hey, about this revision, I checked the refs number 45 and 46 and found out that info was incorrect so I've put the correct numbers, I think you were wrong here. Regards, SimplyFreddie (talk) 11:03, 26 March 2019 (UTC)

@SimplyFreddie: Are you aware that you messed up the totals in the last but one column on the right? You also calculated only the Gremio totals and not the career totals. This means that the statics table contains a lot of errors right now. Please fix this and do not simply reinstate your edits. --Jaellee (talk) 17:23, 26 March 2019 (UTC)

Piping FC Thun and FC Basel

Hi there. At Christian Brand you claimed FC Thun is "not known as Thun". Match reports from the club's official website indicate otherwise. One example: https://fcthun.ch/de/News#news-entry-3002 Also regarding the reverts at Bruno Berner and Marco Streller: FC Basel is also frequently referred to as "Basel": https://www.fcb.ch/de-CH/News/2019/05/19/Cupfinal Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 19:18, 28 May 2019 (UTC)

@Robby.is.on: I think that you misunderstood the intention of WP:KARLSRUHER. In an infobox it should be clear for the reader which football club is meant without a lot of background information. If you write for example only Stuttgart in the infobox, the reader might assume the footballer played for VfB Stuttgart while it was in fact the Stuttgarter Kickers. The links you listed are irrelevant for this case because they refer to the websites of the particular clubs. This is a lot a of contextual information. At the website of FC Thun of course I would assume that Thun refers to FC Thun and not to FC Rot-Schwarz Thun, it's their website, why should they talk about a different club?
WP:KARLSRUHER says: Obviously in article prose, a shortened name can be used, once the proper name has been established, to make the text flow more easily. So when it is clear from context which club is meant then the name can be shortened to the name of the city. But an infobox should show key facts about a footballer and should not be misleading. --Jaellee (talk) 16:33, 29 May 2019 (UTC)
Well, if the club websites' match reports don't count how about those from third-party sources: https://www.nzz.ch/sport/live-resultate/fussball/super-league/ma8748319/fc-sion_fc-thun/liveticker/ (Thun), https://www.nzz.ch/sport/live-resultate/fussball/super-league/ma8748319/fc-sion_fc-thun/liveticker/ (Basel)? The Stuttgart example is a red herring. In that case there are clearly two at least moderately successful and known clubs so referring to either as "Stuttgart" would be ambiguous with introducing the proper name. I have never heard of "FC Rot-Schwarz Thun" and I doubt anyone else has. Robby.is.on (talk) 18:24, 29 May 2019 (UTC)
@Robby.is.on: https://www.nzz.ch/sport/live-resultate/fussball/super-league/ma8748319/fc-sion_fc-thun/liveticker/ (the second link is the same one) has in big letters FC Sion and and FC Thun on top of the page. I think that this confirms my opinion. If they use just "Thun" and "Sion" after the proper name has been established, this is okay. But the infobox is probably the first thing an editor reads, so FC Thun and FC Sion should be used there. --Jaellee (talk) 18:39, 29 May 2019 (UTC)

Messi

Lionel Messi
Personal information
Height 5 ft 7 in (1.70 m)

Please explain? In English human heights are normally given in cm, not m, as in the source cited for Messi's height and per the Human height article: "usually in centimetres when using the metric system,[1][2]" Curly "JFC" Turkey 🍁 ¡gobble! 06:14, 12 June 2019 (UTC)

@Curly Turkey: I mostly edit football related articles, so I don't know about other areas. But if you look at the footballer articles, the height is usually listed in meters (or in feet and inch first if the footballer has strong ties to a country where those units are used). This is the reason I reverted your edit. --Jaellee (talk) 16:00, 12 June 2019 (UTC)
Well, that's especially odd, as {{Infobox football biography}} automatically outputs cm when the input is feet and inches. Curly "JFC" Turkey 🍁 ¡gobble! 23:55, 12 June 2019 (UTC)

honour in football

can you please give a pointer to "major honour" in football so i do not make that error again? as you reverted leroy sane winning the u19 bundesliga. --ThurnerRupert (talk) 03:53, 20 July 2019 (UTC)

There is no real consensus about it, see the discussion here. Some say that only international competitions should be added and I agree with it. Also, compared to Sané's "real" honors (Premier League, FA Cup, etc.) such a U19 championship really looks very minor. But if you insist, re-add it again, I won't revert it. --Jaellee (talk) 20:39, 20 July 2019 (UTC)

add other source instead of reverting

hi, it would be really helpful if you could point to some section why transfermarkt is not a reliable source. and, i'd really appreciate if you could add a reliable source instead of just reverting. --ThurnerRupert (talk) 18:23, 19 July 2019 (UTC)

@ThurnerRupert: Hi, for why Transfermarkt is not a reliable source see for example here, here, or here.
Please do also read WP:Burden. If you want something in an article, it is your job to demonstrate verifiability, not mine. I'm sure that you would appreciate it - but it is my choice I and you cannot expect others to do your work for you. --Jaellee (talk) 19:05, 19 July 2019 (UTC)

ah, i see where you are coming from, the persons discussing the topic there seem not really aware about the german media landscape. if the player valuation is considered fictional (and it is rightfully not accepted to cite such guesses in wikipedia), it does not mean that statistical data or achievements about past events is user generated. and you should know that transfermarkt is used as reliable source in the german wikipedia :) i added a note here. --ThurnerRupert (talk) 03:42, 20 July 2019 (UTC)

@ThurnerRupert: I have never digged in the details of the reliability of Transfermarkt - I just know that it is owned by Axel Springer which is enough for me have some doubts about it. At the moment the consensus is that it is not a reliable source, just like the Daily Mail. If you can convince editors here to accept Transfermarkt, then I would follow the consensus. --Jaellee (talk) 20:39, 20 July 2019 (UTC)

really, i am keeping to learn here. by axel springer. the one who publishes bild, and Die Welt :) --ThurnerRupert (talk) 09:29, 22 July 2019 (UTC)

Intro squabbles

I suppose you're going to keep annoying me, by constantly reverting. So have it your way. Just not interested in edit-wars. GoodDay (talk) 14:20, 4 August 2019 (UTC)

Andreas Ottl/Jonas Hummels

I recently made edits to the pages for Andreas Ottl and Jonas Hummels, regarding their founding of the company RippleWorx. I'm a fellow founder and work with them. Our president has requested a wikipedia page for RippleWorx to be created (still trying to figure out how to do that), and to add reference to RippleWorx on the pages for Andreas and Jonas. What do I need to do to get these pages/edits created? I'm new to this. TheHermann (talk) 16:53, 20 August 2019 (UTC)

@TheHermann: If you want to create a new Wikipedia page, then please have a look at Help:Your first article. But be aware, that verifiability is one of the core policies of Wikipedia. Please read Wikipedia:Verifiability for details. The content has to be determined by previously published sources and not personal knowledge. If Hummels and Ottl have founded this company, then please provide a reliable source (e.g. a newspaper article).
Additionally, if you are related to the company, you might have a conflict of interest, please have a look at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest for problems that might arise from that. --Jaellee (talk) 17:38, 20 August 2019 (UTC)

Lewandowski goals

Hi the numbers I have posted on this page are now 100% correct and they are available on statistics sites such as whoscored.col Bill 122 (talk) 19:34, 26 September 2019 (UTC)

Sargis Adamyan

Are you serious?????? Just check how many games he played in the domestic league Arman Khanoyan (talk) 16:17, 10 November 2019 (UTC)

@Arman Khanoyan: Yes, I am serious. According to kicker or Soccerway Adamyan played up to today (10 November 2019) 7 matches and scored 3 goals in the domestic league for Hoffenheim. You wrote 7 matches and 4 goals which is just wrong. And you did not update the time stamp at the bottom of the infobox either. So please check how many appearances and goals he has in the domestic league before editing. I've updated now his statistics to the current date. --Jaellee (talk) 18:03, 10 November 2019 (UTC)

Don't forgot, that you wrote, that he played 3 matches and scored twice, so we both were wrong, but mine was a little mistake — Preceding unsigned comment added by Arman Khanoyan (talkcontribs) 08:18, 11 November 2019 (UTC)

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

Huntelaar

It'a long-established. If a player moves in the 2018/19 January transfer window we do not end the previous club at 2018 and the new club at 2019. Feel free to start a new discussion if you disagree. GiantSnowman 11:36, 4 December 2019 (UTC)
