Welcome, and about article titles

Welcome!

Hello, Jaespinoza, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question and then place {{helpme}} before the question on your talk page. Again, welcome!

One suggestion that may be helpful to you -- when creating a new article, our policy is to give the article the simplest title that isn't ambiguous. For example, I moved the article you created at Azabache/One Step Closer(Marta Sánchez album) to Azabache, which is the title of the album in its original language. When a title would be ambiguous by itself, then it's fine to include something in parentheses to clarify it; for example, the article Vivo (Luis Miguel album) is at the correct title, because Vivo by itself can refer to several other things, including another album. (If there were only one album called "Vivo" in existence, then Vivo (album) would be a simpler and sufficiently clear title.) Hope this helps. --Russ (talk) 00:01, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

Great job on writing the article. Basketballoneten 02:03, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

Peer review

I am working on the review of your list and it should be saved and visible for you and everyone else within the hour or less. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 01:14, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

  • I made some more comments on the article - the refs look better Ruhrfisch ><>°° 03:41, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
    • I would still get someone to copyedit the lead paragraph before taking it to FLC. One place to ask is WP:PRV - you can mention it is a list and the text to be copyedited is fairly short. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 03:21, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
      • I reread it and made a few minor copyedits just now. I do not write music album articles or usually participate in FLC for albums, but it looks pretty good to me. I think I would submit it to WP:FLC - good luck! Ruhrfisch ><>°° 02:18, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

I just wanted to thank you on this article. Someone has been putting in the wrong info and I've have changed it at least one time, so I put some references. (Manafan5 (talk) 22:49, 17 July 2008 (UTC))

Wikitable formatting

Hi Jaespinoza! No problem, you're welcome! I just altered the table adding some "rowspan"s to the Abum column – this makes the albums which were listed more than once (consecutively) cover that # of rows vertically within the Albums column with only one listing of the title (here). The same could be done with the Artist column, theoretically, although I'm not sure how good that would look, or even the current change that I made. I also made the Album column a bit thinner, too, which I think looks better. If you don't like the way things currently look with the table, feel free to revert it. :) JamieS93 19:27, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

Billboard at FLC and PR

Hey Jaespinoza. A couple of things. First, sorry the first attempt at FLC for your Billboard chart list didn't work out - I can't promote unless the community have shown a consensus to support, and the case of your list they didn't. Secondly, can I ask you not to submit too many lists which are very similar to PR at one time? Invariably similar comments will apply to all lists of a similar type and it wastes a lot of time for reviewers to have to say the same thing again and again. Cheers. The Rambling Man (talk) 10:55, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

I did copyedits on the 1999, 2000, and 2001 lists - feel free to revert any errors I made or introduced. There is not much else I can do as I do not know much about music article and sources to check those. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 13:21, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

Re:Lists

Hello, thanks for your praise. Unfortunately, lists like that are not my area of expertise. I would recommend asking User:Drewcifer3000, who concentrates more on lists in that area. Cheers, sephiroth bcr (converse) 20:43, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

Rock music WikiProject

I'd like to invite you to join the newly-formed Rock music WikiProject. There's alot of Rock-related articles on Wikipedia that could use a little attention, and I hope this project can help organize an effort to improve them. So please, take a look and if you like what you see, help us get this project off the ground and a few Rock music pages into the front ranks of Wikipedia articles. Thanks! --Be Black Hole Sun (talk) 12:21, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

Re: About the Norah Jones list

I've updated the list now. Feel free to do so though – there is no need to let me know :) I removed the Foo Fighters mention as I try to focus on work where Jones is the primary collaborator. Gary King (talk) 00:55, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

GA review for Para Siempre

I've reviewed the article and left notes on the talk page. I've put the nomination on hold for seven days to allow the issues to be addressed. Feel free to contact me on my talk page, here, or on the article talk page with any concerns, and let me know one of those places when the issues have been addressed. If I may suggest that you strike out, check mark, or otherwise mark the items I've detailed, that will make it possible for me to see what's been addressed, and you can keep track of what's been done and what still needs to be worked on. Ealdgyth - Talk 16:34, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

I think the article is ready. I followed your suggestions, along with the other ones about the extra album covers. Jaespinoza (talk) 02:39, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:Te Voy a Perder - Video.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Te Voy a Perder - Video.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stifle (talk) 11:37, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Te Voy a Perder - Video2.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Te Voy a Perder - Video2.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stifle (talk) 11:37, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on List of number-one Billboard Latin Albums of 2010 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. freshacconci talktalk 20:44, 17 December 2009 (UTC)

Hi there, I've been editing some of the article you started, Y., and have noticed that much of the text has been just translated from the Spanish and added right into the article. If you want, we could a collaboration for an article sometime. :) Magiciandude (talk) 19:30, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

Re: FL nomination. While I am still working on the list (adding Nominees), I hope I addressed your concern. Thanks for taking the time to review the list. I apologize for not revisiting your nomination for the top albums list, but by the time I go there, Dabomb closed it. Plus, with one support it wouldn't have passed. All issues were solved, so next time you nominated it you'll get my support.--Truco 503 03:32, 24 February 2010 (UTC)

Wow... I had no idea someone was was working on Mexican music articles. I do Mexican geography articles, mostly. Two things.... please update WP:MEXICO (new articles section) with your contributions and please don´t accent the word Mexico in English. We only accent words that are considered "foreign." Mexico as a name is no longer foreign.Thelmadatter (talk) 19:18, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

Hey there! I did some snooping and found that you don't have Autoreview privileges despite the large number of articles you've created, so I went ahead and nominated you here. Cheers! --Cryptic C62 · Talk 19:41, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

Hey, how are you doing?

¿Como está? I've been helping around with the songs and albums by adding Lo Nuestro awards to them. I've also been creating some new articles for the #1 Hot Latin Tracks songs, so I just wanted to know what's going on at your end. I thought if you needed some help, I'd be happy to assist you. Magiciandude (talk) 19:52, 3 March 2010 (UTC)

Well, my only concern is that with the 80's, Hot Latin Tracks started in '86, but with the other decades, it would be quite a long list. Other than that, I have no objections to having a decades list for the '90s and '00s. Once I make articles on A Puro Dolor, Por Amarte Asi, and an article on Rudy Perez, we'll get this started. It won't take long since I have a lot of time in my hands. ;) Magiciandude (talk) 21:56, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
I'm doing A Puro Dolor right now actually, so I'll let you know when I'm done. Magiciandude (talk) 22:14, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
Okay, I've created the article just now, I'll look the awards and the such right now. Magiciandude (talk) 22:22, 3 March 2010 (UTC)

Well, the only reason I put the English name is because of the naming conventions used in Wikipedia. I thought that's why it has to be the English name. Magiciandude (talk) 14:16, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

Oh and great job with the article! I have to know how you find these info. So with that said, I saw how you put the article under Did You Know? Well there shouldn't be any problem now with it. I'll still help around. Magiciandude (talk) 14:18, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

Oye Jaespinoza

Hey it's me again, just got back from New York City. In case you didn't know, someone had changed "Top Latin Songs" to "Hot Latin Tracks", which I thought was the former name, not the current name. Also, I have a question, where do you find release dates for singles? Thanks. By the way, are you alright? I heard an earthquake hit where you live. Magiciandude (talk) 18:13, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the singles links, it has help me for the track listing especially for Suavemente. I've been working on the categories relating to latin music. For the Hot Latin Tracks, maybe they can be merged into two articles, from the beginning of the 90's to mid 90's, and mid 90's to end 90's? And congrats once again for another DIY feature. Suavemente (song) and collaboration

Hey Jaespinoza, guess what? Suavemente got to be featured on the main page in the DYK section! My first ever main contribution to the main page. Anyways, I was wondering, if we could a collaboration to make the first Latin song to get at least GA (if there isn't any already). I figured we could do Suavemente and/or A Puro Dolor since I'm familar with those songs. What do you say? Magiciandude (talk) 19:54, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

Two re-recordings were made for the song. One with by the group (without Angel Lopez) on their latest album, Abba Nuestro. Another one with Angel Lopez with Ana Isabelle on her album, Mi Sueño. Magiciandude (talk) 18:58, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
By the way, instead doing a collab for "Suavemente" after "A Puro Dolor", I thought a better alternative would be to do a collab for the Latin albums of the 1980s. You know like how you did with the Top Latin Albums of the 1990s? Something like that for Latin Pop, Regional Mexican, and Tropical Albums. I saw the number-one Latin pop albums of 1985 and felt it would be better to do it on the 1980s. I've already worked on the charts for the Latin pop albums of 1980s. Magiciandude (talk) 15:22, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
Any is fine by me. I think maybe the Latin pop albums since it's something we're both familiar with. I just don't want to pressure you too much because I'm sure you're quite busy with other things. Magiciandude (talk) 04:29, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

To be honest, I'm not too familiar with Regional Mexican since I really don't listen to it. Nonetheless, I posted the charts of the Regional Mexican albums from 1980s for you. Here it is. I'm going to do the charts for the Tropical Albums next then probably finish up with the Latin Pop 1980's article. By the way, I've sent a peer review for A Puro Dolor and so far no responses yet. Check out the template I made for invitations. Here. Free feel to edit it. Magiciandude (talk) 20:47, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

Thanks. I've been working on Latin Pop Airplay from the 1990s on my sandbox since I thought c with the Latin Pop Albums from the 1990s. I've finished the list on my sandbox. On an unrelated note, I've also created two song artists, ¡Basta Ya! (song) and Hoy Como Ayer for Conjunto Primavera. What I've been trying to do, is go by a decade for each genre. See I've worked on the articles of the number Latin pop albums from 1980s that were previously uncreated (the only trouble I'm having is the Robert Carlos '88 album). Then I've worked on the Tropical Albums of 1980s on creating articles and will create a summary as it was with Latin pop albums. That only leaves Regional Mexican Albums of the 1980s. Otherwise, everything is going A-Ok. Magiciandude (talk) 06:28, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

Since there's the only the two of us listed, I've decided that a taskforce might be a better alternative for the time being. I posted this on Wikiproject Music and Latin America in hopes of getting members. If we get enough members, we can evolve into a Wikiproject. What do you think? Same song?

Hello Jaespinoza, I would like to know you're thoughts on this. For Ricardo Montaner's song, "Me Va a Extrañar", I notice on the parenthesis it says "Unchain My Heart". I was wondering if it's the same song as from Ray Charles's Unchain My Heart. Like Luis Miguel's "Ahora Te Puedes Marchar" being the Spanish adaptation of "I Only Want to be with you". 1980s Latin albums critique

Album certifications

Thanks for the help. I just have a question about the certification. As you mentioned about the Spanish-language market certificates being different from in the Ni Es Lo Mismo Ni Es Igual, does that mean that Contra La Corriente actually sold over 50,000 copies instead of 500,000? I didn't realize there was a difference between two markets and it's a current GA nominee so I would like to avoid putting a factual error on the article. Again thanks for the help. EDIT: I just realized something. The gold certification for "Contra La Corriente" was before the "premios de oro" was even launched. It says that it was certified gold in 1997 (a month after the album was released), two years before the Spanish-language market got their own certifications. So that would mean that the album has sold over 500,000 still, right? I just want to make sure. Magiciandude (talk) 02:03, 24 August 2010 (UTC)

It makes perfect sense now. When I was looking up the gold & platinum album for Marc Anthony, I've noticed there were albums labled "ST" or "LA" and I didn't knew what they meant. Now that you mention the Latin albums and Standard, I see that the Contra La Corriente falls under ST and Ni Es Lo Mismo Ni Es Igual fall under LA. Thanks, that really helps for future album articles I'll be working on. Magiciandude (talk) 15:22, 25 August 2010 (UTC)

I like the list you inquired about, though there are a couple of changes I would make. Because several artists to do not have pictures, I would make a column of images like seen here so that an image is not required for each row of the table. Also, I do not think the text in the table should be centered. The content of the list is great, however! --Another Believer (Talk) 19:22, 18 September 2010 (UTC)

Enslaving students :)

A couple of years ago, I had two classes of advanced English students in Toluca, Mexico write articles for WP. Im going to do this again, this time with my Business English class, with an eye on having them write a B class (minimum) article as their final project. The last time I did this, I was a relative newbie on WP, and I went around willy nilly looking for folks to help out the class as mentors, especially in wiki-tasks like wikifying, categorizing, etc. as I have limited time to teach wiki skills. I would, of course, teach the academic English skills and citation. Might you be interested in helping out and/or spreading the word that I need mentors for my students? I'll have them look for mentors themselves (gotta remember to find the newbie pages), but any head start would be great due to the semester calendar.Thelmadatter (talk) 21:07, 6 September 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for helping out! I have my course listed on the WP:SUP page under Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education, Mexico City. Im introducing the concept of working with WP today in class and having students begin by registering and creating their userpages. When I have a list of their online personas, Ill let you know. Basically, I need people to interact with them and help them learn WP "culture" and help with their English (although its very advanced). It's good to have "real world" feedback instead of just the teacher's.Thelmadatter (talk) 11:58, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

Succession boxes

Hello Javier, I thought I would give you the heads up that succession boxes for number-one albums and songs are likely to be deprecated in the near future. An alternative has been made to put the lists of number and songs on a "See also" section. Just letting you know in case you haven't heard about it yet. Magiciandude (talk) 04:14, 20 September 2010 (UTC)

To be honest, I don't like to see them go either, but the consensus so far has been to removed them. If it makes you feel better, I've finished the number-one Latin Pop Albums of the 1980s and getting ready to be FL. Now I know the collab for A Puro Dolor didn't go well, but I was hoping to do another collab. The album I was thinking we could do (that is if the album is your taste) was Segundo Romance by Luis Miguel. What do you say partner? EDIT: By the way, I didn't you created Amor Prohibido (song). Which is funny because I just wrote a GA review for it earlier today. Magiciandude (talk) 21:43, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
Yes! Segundo Romance is my favorite album from that guy! In fact, I actually created the article with a different account name back then. I can go ahead and start with the basics by moving it from stub to start class. As for "A Puro Dolor", I wouldn't mind continuing, but I would rather work on either "Mientes" or "Cuando Me Enamoro" depending on the Latin Grammy Awards. Hopefully as our work continues, more people would be interested in joining our task force. Magiciandude (talk) 22:51, 20 September 2010 (UTC)

Okay, I've got the article of Segundo Romance setup on my sandbox. Do you want to take care of the #1 Latin songs from the album at the same time put I work on the album article on my sandbox? I have the original CD case with a booklet which contains the origianl singer, composer, and year it was released in case you need info for that and any other else related. One thing I forgot to mention, is that I'm doing this for FA (or at least GA if we can't go any further). I look forward for this collab. :) Magiciandude (talk) 03:01, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

I took a careful look the album you worked on and looks very good indeed, looks like it could pass GA when you get it peer reviewed. Here is my suggestions: In the reception section, no matter how well receive an article may be, try looking for negative points in a review. That way it presents the article in a neutral tone. I did this with Contra la Corriente by stating how critics felt that the album was not as well put-out as Todo a Su Tiempo was. Categories, I notice that you tend to be put "albums by artist" and "songs by artists" as the only category when you create them. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it would helpful if you included the nationality by putting "Albums by (insert nationality here)" and the genre such as "latin pop albums", "rock en español albums", etc. Just throwing my two cents here. For your efforts on the album, I've included the album on the Portal:Latin America music/Selected album page. By the way, there's a deluxe album that contains a bonus song "Critica". Since you say it's an excellent album, I'll listen to it online. Magiciandude (talk) 20:05, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

I've just expanded the article on Segundo Romance. Let's use the article talk page to discuss how the article will work out. Thanks! Magiciandude (talk) 16:36, 10 October 2010 (UTC)

Grammy Award for Best Latin Jazz Album

Thanks again for your compliments about the Grammy Awards lists that I have worked on. If you are interested, we could finish this one together. It would be good practice for you (not that you need it, but you know what I mean) and it is a subject that seems to interest you. I already converted the table to the format used in my other lists, but I need help finding references and nominees. If you'd like to help, let me know or just jump in and start editing! --Another Believer (Talk) 21:45, 13 October 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for writing back! I added the Latin Jazz list to my watchlist so that we can work on it together. Hopefully we can finish it soon and co-nominate is for FL status. I will also help with finding sources, creating stubs for the award-winning albums, and help expand the lead. Looking forward to working on this list together! --Another Believer (Talk) 22:41, 2 November 2010 (UTC)
I am starting stubs for the award-winning albums. Thanks for adding the nominees! If you saved any links verifying the nominees, feel free to post them on the talk page or send them my way so that I can plug them in. Otherwise, I will start tracking those down as well. --Another Believer (Talk) 16:01, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
Only three references left, and hopefully a bit of lead expansion, and the list should be good to go! It certainly looks much better without the red links. Thanks for helping to start those stubs... --Another Believer (Talk) 20:17, 4 November 2010 (UTC)
You are welcome to work on the last album link. --Another Believer (Talk) 21:26, 4 November 2010 (UTC)

Segundo Romance collab

Glad to hear it! And congrats on meeting Jimmy Wales! If I knew this earlier, I would have asked you to say for me. LOL. But I live in Florida so that he might pop up here one of these days. Speaking of which, Marc Anthony and Vicente Fernandez were just here on the Amway Center, though I didn't get to see either (then again, I've seen Marc's performance already along with J Lo). Chayanne's concert is coming up next November. ^_^ That being said, I was wondering I just need your input on Segundo Romance since I've just expanded the article, and what information should be in it. Once again, congrats on meeting Jimbo Wales! Magiciandude (talk) 03:35, 17 October 2010 (UTC)

Whenever you're ready to start on the article, just let me know. Magiciandude (talk) 02:46, 29 October 2010 (UTC)
What else what would like done on the article? I see you have been working on other projects so I don't want to take too much of your time. Just tell me what to do next in the meantime. Magiciandude (talk) 00:22, 10 November 2010 (UTC)
Well that could be problematic. Have any alternatives in mind just in case it's not possible for FA? Like Romances (the third one) for example? Or a completely different album/artist? Magiciandude (talk) 02:01, 10 November 2010 (UTC)
I'm not really into Ricky Martin (never understood why he got so famous), and were I to do a Marc Anthony, I would perfer to do Todo a Su Tiempo since that is my favorite album from him, though I'm not sure about your tastes in that (also got his eponymous album as well if pop suits your taste more).

Here are some other pop CD's I have that could be useful:

I'm also into Chayanne, Camila, and Luis Fonsi even though I don't their CD's. Otherwise, I just mostly own Tropical albums (but I'm into Mexican rancheras). Magiciandude (talk) 02:41, 10 November 2010 (UTC)

FLC and ACCESS

As a regular at FLC, I'd like to draw your attention to ongoing discussion here about changes to the format of tables which will affect all existing FLs and all current and future FLCs. Your input would be welcome. Thanks for your contributions so far! The Rambling Man (talk) 20:22, 4 November 2010 (UTC)

Re: Latin Grammy Award for Best New Artist

Hey! I see a few ways this list could be improved. Would you like for me to add my name to its nomination page at FLC and help you address concerns being raised in the review process? That way we can both improve the list and ensure FL status. I wrote a note on the nomination page and I am happy to jump in and help! --Another Believer (Talk) 20:29, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
