Conflict of Interest[edit]

Jeremy112233 - Please support your claims of "not well sourced, highly promotional, and is in need of improvement" - you have already edited the page substantially by removing around 60% of the content, content that was factual and an accurate timeline of this company's activities - why do you still insist on adding the tags? what vested interests do you have in vandalizing this page? are you a subject matter expert on this company? your edits to date would indicate no.

You have broken the 3RR rule here by removing the tags four times within a 24 hour period, which can lead to a block. If you return the tags to the page yourself then that would be an excellent sign of good faith. I have laid out the problems on the talkpage of the article, the most appropriate place to discuss those items is there. In terms of your above question, the article is written promotionally and does not use appropriate sources. Are you saying that you have no connection to the company whatsoever and are not Jason Dodds, employee of the company, but a different Jason Dodds with no conflict of interest? You continue to provide no basis for your claims. What exactly has been written promotionally (sic) that is not factual, and cited with press release links to external websites (most of which you have already deleted). You are in danger of abusing your position as a reviewer for offering no significant reason for the edits that were made to this page, which from what I can gather are Reviewing#Acceptable_edits

I am not acting in a position as a Reviewer here; Reviewers only act on protected articles. In this instance I am removing promotional cruft, and placing appropriate tags so that others know to discuss the issues on the page. See the entire company history section for lack of references, see sentences like "evolved into a scalable telematics software solution, Telogis management identified a much larger market opportunity" for an example of promotionalism, and see your username for the basis of a concern about COI. Do you deny that this is promotional writing, and that you have a COI? Do you not see the lack of references, pointed out by the citation needed indicators? To be fair it doesnt matter which wikipedian makes the edits - if its accurate and factual then there should be no issue (obviously if there is then these concerns need to be referenced, cited and backed up with specific examples). Your example doesnt support your case, how is any of that promotional? It is scalable by the definition of the word, and what is promotional about the word "evolving" - if anything it almost indicates there was no design involved. The way you've omitted the NZ origins of the company but included "identifying a larger market" actually makes no sense. Some of your other edits are illogical too, such as the funding mentions no longer being in chronological order. Every award was cited with a press release in the original edits but you have since removed them. As a show of good faith I will remove the "demand for its mapping engine component" as that doesnt contribute much to the reader, and I appreciate you citing specific examples that concern you.

Press releases are not reliable indicators of notability. Yes, you used press releases. Press releases are not third-party sources. If you are having difficulty determining what neutral, non-promotional language is, then it may be best for you not to edit where you have a clear conflict-of-interest that may be clouding your judgment. I have now removed the copyright violations from the article and all promotional cruft. At this point the article no longer reads like an advertisement, and there are third-party references for everything. What you've yet to explain is your conflict-of-interest. However I have removed all material from the article that would have been worrisome. Therefore the tags are no longer needed. That said, so long as you stop adding inappropriate advertorial or ill-sourced material to the page, there would be no reason to pursue the COI case any further. For the record citations are only required where it is likely to be challenged Wikipedia:V - there is no reason to challenge it until now as youve made it your personal crusade for some reason (who knows why). Youve also added content which has citations that link to hidden content (WSJ) - this is not a valid citation so will be removed. There is also no mention of the product set this company has built itself around, which makes the story incomplete. This is also not a page to discuss what you feel are the cons of telematics - use a page like Gps_tracking. this addition shows that you are not objective in discussing this company and should desist from further edits.

Subscription required citations are absolutely allowed on Wikipedia. However, if you do insist on using promotional language and press releases, I may have to seek a third-party opinion instead of arguing basic policy issues. COI editors often use language like "story", which belies their intentions not to create neutral content. I strongly advise you against further breaking the WP:3RR rule. Speedy deletion nomination of Verizon Connect[edit]

Hello, Jasonleedodd. Thank you for helping to build Wikipedia-- the world's largest free content encyclopedia. I'm sorry, but Verizon Connect has been deleted as meeting WP:CSD#G11. "This applies to pages that are exclusively promotional and would need to be fundamentally rewritten to conform with Wikipedia:NOTFORPROMOTION." These must be rewritten from scratch from "reliable, third party sources unconnected to the subject." See WP:RS.

Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted. Users who do so may be blocked from editing. Promotional content is vigorously deleted. Wikipedia:Identifying blatant advertising#Typical signs of blatant advertising contains information about content to avoid. For more information on content that may be perceived as promotional, click User:Dlohcierekim/promo.

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia-- subjects must meet notability guidelines with reliable sources providing verifiable information. That generally means someone unconnected with the subject needs to have written a great deal about the subject. Please see Wikipedia:Citing sources . Template:cite has templates you can use in citing your sources. Place the template {{references}} at the bottom of the page, and references cited in the text will appear there.
