See WP:PRIDE. I didn't say it was Marv - that was already in the article. I apologise for not assuming good faith when you first changed it. However, your sources are invalid. As a compromise, I removed ALL names, since it IS a basketball term, but nobody can prove the ORIGIN of the term. You insist on re-adding the name, despite it having no real relevance to the band. The band is named Tenacious D, after a basketball term. It is not especially relevant to the band, especially in the absence of reliable sources, who coined the term. Unfortunately, your 20 years of knowledge about basketball is not a reliable third-party source (WP:RS), and in any case, is not relevant to an article about musical duo. Meeting Walt would also not be a valid source - he would not be a third party. If this information was relevant (which it probably isn't), all you would need is an article which credits him as the creator of the term. Also, please also avoid editing messages on talk pages once they have been submitted - it makes replying to them complicated :) Metao (talk) 02:29, 30 November 2010 (UTC)

The information about Marv was not added by me. I just maintain the page as a volunteer. Because of my limited time on Wikipedia each day, I tend to act like a guard dog - bad information already in the article stays. I work to prevent entropy from setting in. When I have time I might look for actual errors. You found an error. Good work! You tried to correct it. Also good work. I was wrong in reverting your initial change without thought - I apologise, but I admit to some bias against unregistered users, and since no citation was there to support either argument, and your change added a redlink, I assumed it was a troll. My bad. Your persistence (to your credit) made me consider my position, and I realised I was wrong. The correct thing to do - in the absence of a RS, and since the article is about a band and not a term, and as a good compromise - is to remove the information. Thats what Wikipedia is about. Teamwork to create good articles. We did it together - it wouldn't have happened without both of us. Oh, and Wikipedia is certainly about correct information, but the desire for accuracy must be balanced against having reliable sources (WP:RS) and avoiding original research (WP:OR).
