My suggestion would be remove the name of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) from the caption and just write Muslims pray like this. valiant fan projects deletion

Magnus.ramstrom (talk) 17:58, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

This is new to me. Sorry if I do all wrong. I just discovered that the entry "valiant fan projects" is gone and was directed here. I wonder what is the procedure for it to be brought back. Some info: Valiant Fan Projects is a concept notable among comic collectors, mainly those collecting Valiant comics. The article that has disappeared is referenced from the Valiant Comics article. I personally noticed it was gone when researching a question asked on a message board.

Best,

Magnus

Here's a little bump. For notoriety of fan projects, please see articles on fandom and fanzines. For Valiant projects specifically, please see http://www.valiantcomics.com Magnus.ramstrom (talk) 14:22, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

Hey there Magnus! The company/fan site is a good start, but third-party sites and sources help out a lot more as well. Jmlk17 21:43, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
Know what? After finding some minor references at the obvious places (the concerned charities and comic forums), I searched on and actually found all info I need at answers.com. So I have what I need and I have learned a bit about the Wikipedia procedures. I settle for that. Magnus.ramstrom (talk) 14:39, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

MS Riverdance

Hi, you deleted the talk page, but the article still exists. Gwernol had to delete the article in order to re-create it with the history intact as it kept getting redirected to M/S Riverdance by editors who had had no input into the article and did not discuss the proposed move. Hi Jmlk17, you protected the article Islamophobia some time ago (16 Jan). While attempts towards dispute resolution have been partially successful, there has been a substantial lack of recent talk page activity, even though I have been requesting feedback on new compromise attempts. In the light of the talk page discussion having dried up, would it be okay to have the article unprotected so I can see how the new proposed lead floats, and so that editing to the article can be resumed? Please restore "TOAS Nabard- The Persian Art of Combat" that was deleted

Please restore the page "TOAS Nabard- The Persian Art of Combat" which was deleted via a (prod) tag on 01/19/08.

I appreciate your time an efforts.

Metalmilitian (talk) 00:27, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Is there any particular reason why it should be restored? Are you able to give good, third-party sources or notability? Jmlk17 02:17, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for your quick respnse. The reason we want the page restored is that TOAS Nabard is a form of martial art that Master Safakhoo developed over his life and has been teaching to others for more than 25 years in the US. Through Wiki, we hope that others will come to understand that TOAS Nabard is unique and that not only are there punches, kicks, and grabs, but deeper within is a reason and a understanding of each which can be linked to an ancient persian philosphy and belief. Through these beliefs and approaches, we not only better ourselves physically, we also better understand ourselves on a wholistic basis.

Thank you, Metalmilitian (talk) 02:43, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

I understand your goals, but what notability does this TOAS Nabard- The Persian Art of Combat have? Jmlk17 03:57, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

This is what we are attempting to accomplish...The notability of TOAS Nabard. We are trying to inform others of the history of the Persian Art of Combat and relate it to the TOAS Nabard way for the general user seeking more information through Wikipedia. It is very hard to establish notability when the subject you are referring to is unique. I hope this helps with your question.

-edit- Please follow this link [1] where you will find that TOAS Nabard and Master Safakhoo have been interviewed by Budo International Magazine and the local Pensacola News Journal. Both of these articles should lend notibility to this wikipage -end edit-

Thanks - Metalmilitian (talk) 00:46, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

Alright... I shall restore it to your sandbox for the time being... that way, you can work on the article unimpeded until you choose to publish it to the site again. You may find it here my friend. Jmlk17 04:02, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

Hello jmlk17, can you tell me what was done wrong with my posting? I would like to make the changed needed to fit the format needed by wiki. I am unable to find much info about the usc ibear program, I am a graduate and thought it would be great to post some info about it. The program is ranked by all major business school sites--us news, financial times, bus week. I am not trying to put up an ad, though, I did add the admissions page and maybe this was the issue. I would be happy to remove that link, it is not needed at all...I only added it because I was trying to copy other univ.'s formats. There are many other univ. with info about thier ranked individual programs on wiki. I hope that I can add the info about ibear program too.

Thank you for your time...I love the site. dylan p Dylanp (talk) 10:26, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Sectioned

Dear Mr.Jmlk17,

I was creating an interesting and true biographic article in Wikipedia on the 11th of Feb 2008. It took about 2 hrs for me to create this authentic article as an official biographer of a leading educationist in India. But soon I was plugged off from wikipedia and my article that contained 100% correct references were delected stating vandalism. If this is the case for an authentic biographer, I do not know how you treat commoners and real vandalists. Not a word that i wrote was untrue or in a way to reduce the credibility of Wikipedia. Then you can introduce a payment mode whereby people who want them to have their profiles in ur website can pay and do so. I think this doesn't contributes to your objective of having a perfect encyclopedia. Your action is unfortunate and unjustified. I am not angry but only feel that I wasted 2 hrs on writing this article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Livingston Madras (talkcontribs) 22:05, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

Images with political content

Hi Jmlk17,

I'd like to request for help:

Please take a look at this section in Anger article: [2]. It is my belief that adding political-flavored images to articles that are not notable or known for any political issue is not appropriate. The concept of anger itself is rather independent of politics; If the images were notable (they are not), they were only justified to represent the concept of anger in the context of politics (but there is no such section there); and lastly the image is not historically notable; there are thousands of images available on the internet that do not have political flavor but represent the matter and I believe there are already such images in the article. Since User:David Shankbone had added such images to many many articles such as Body language, Gesture, Index finger, Type of gesture, Logical argument, Eye contact, Staring, originally I thought this is a violation of WP:POINT as well (but I don't think this is so anymore; maybe a conflict of interest causing (WP:COI) favoring of those images). Could you please help with this. Thank you very much . --Be happy!! (talk) 04:18, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

  • Please also review the discussion over this issue on my Talk page. The editor thinks that the circumstances for a photo are an issue, when they only need illustrate the concept. I am judging that given Aminz/Be happy!!'s edit history, he has an issue that it was an Ahmadinejad protest, but it does not matter per the WP:IMAGE guidelines. If he has an issue with an image he should raise it on each talk page. --David Shankbone 04:28, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
    • I have the concern that it is related to politics. --Be happy!! (talk) 04:31, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
    • Jmlk17, [[User:David Shankbone] has posted a post on another admin's talk page [3]. Cheers, --Be happy!! (talk) 04:43, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
  • Comment, I am not particularly interested in the issue, I just happened to notice the situation while on patrol. I will give my opinion only this once on this subject and that is all. I do not believe that the image has any political insinuation. I believe that the image properly reflects the topic in the section of the article which is the expression of anger, in this case amongst two groups. Therefore, the image is revenant to the section of the article. This should not be turned into a big deal. That is all and Thank you. Tony the Marine (talk) 06:52, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Hi Jmlk17,

Madeleine McCann

You've SP'd the Madeleine McCann article. I think you need to look more closely at this article and its history before excluding just one party in the "edit war". By semi-protecting this article you have excluded the anonymous user (and all others) while leaving the small cabal of editors who control the article to do as they want. I haven't the time or the inclination to examine all of the disputed requests for citation, but I did look at just two, refs 146 and 147. These were the first I came across and I have to say that the sources are not good. In fact they do not in any way back up the statements being made about criticism of the parents. The anonymous user is correct to ask for a citation in these two cases at least. The onus should then be on "the article owners" (Harry the Dog, TerriersFan etc) to source those remarks or remove them. You might like to consider either removing SP or fully-protecting the article. As it stands, it appears that the IP is being excluded just becuase he's an IP editor. 82.20.28.142 (talk) 14:23, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

I believe you may be right... to a point. The IPs (there were a couple) seemed to be unwilling to move to a talk page about the issue, and seemed to be getting quite "fired up" during the whole issue. Irregardless, I have lowered the semiprotection for the time being, as I don't want to exclude anyone. Thanks for the time. :) Jmlk17 22:10, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
OK, thanks for looking at it again. 82.20.28.142 (talk) 22:13, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

Muhammad/images

What you removed in [5] was not a "theological discussion". It pertained to the topic at hand and directly to comments made that have not been removed. My comment regarding the differences in doctrine regarding images, icons, and depictions in general is replies directly Kaldari's question of "why Christians don't care that Jesus is depicted and Muslims care if Muhammed is". How do you plan to answer that question if not with a brief explanation of doctrine? My comment to Armanaziz replies directly to his general complaint that the images are unimportant (at least that's what he seems to be saying). I realize I off the rails yesterday, but I was on the right-of-way still. Today I'm on the rails. Put it back pls... -MasonicDevice (talk) 22:37, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

Talk:Muhammad should also be semi-protected from IP addresses. Too much page blanking going on. Thoughts? - ALLSTAR echo 00:49, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

I dunno... I agree that a short-term protection might be beneficial, but to protect a talk page really does take away the whole "anyone can edit" thing entirely... but if it has to be done, it has to! Jmlk17 06:58, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

I can has thankspam?

Hah, welcome. Best of luck! :) Jmlk17 09:15, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Muhammad Protection

Please remove the protection from Muhammad and follow Wikipedia:PROT#Content_disputes ("Administrators should not protect or unprotect a page [...] if they are in any way involved in the dispute.") There is a strong evidence, that you are indeed involved:[6]. If User:Rauf-abdul violated WP:3RR you can block the user, but that's no reason to protect the page. Besides, we are currently building a new consensus on WikiEN-l [7]. --Raphael1 23:38, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

That is certainly not an inappropriate discussion. Why are you deleting my messages there? If you continue this, i will report you to higher admin.XubayrMA Talk 09:58, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

RE:Zwuh?

Haha, I figured I would AGF on your part, even though your edits are rarely ever constructive :P lol – Gonzo fan2007 talkcontribs 17:33, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Restoring RLM Software

Hello Jmlk 17, it looks like you deleted the entry on RLM Software on Jan 17th after a PROD request went uncontested for 5 days.

Can you let me know why it was deleted? I'm asking that you restore it based on its relevance to FAA Air Traffic Control initiatives.

Thanks FlightTracker (talk) 21:32, 18 February 2008 (UTC)2/18/08

Hey there! I deleted the article after it's PROD tag expired... for a better explanation than I could probably give you, check out PROD. Hope that helps! :) Jmlk17 21:35, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

RFA

Hey, I saw that recently you changed from neutral to a weak oppose. I don't want to come off as aggressive, but may I ask why you decided to change? It would be helpful to know what was the deciding factor so I can improve upon that. Thank you very much. Icestorm815Talk 01:28, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Hey there Ice! You're not being aggressive at all, so no worries. I am more than willing to explain any of my actions here at any time. In regards to your question, I changed after a chance to dig a bit deeper into your contributions. I'm not exactly the best of article-builders myself, but I like to see admins with a bit more experience in that general area. You seem to have a widespread interest in a bunch of areas; may I suggest you find one you really enjoy and focus on working on it for a bit? I have the utmost confidence in your working towards building your credentials, and I am confident of a support !vote in your next Rfa my friend. Jmlk17 01:33, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
Thank you very much for the quick reply. I'll make an honest effort to try and develop an article before I try again. As for the aggressive part, I've ran into a couple of hot headed people before, so I've had to develop a highly diplomatic style of writing to make sure they keep their cool. Now I'm practically talking to everyone like that! :) Anyways, thanks again, and tell the cabal I'll see them soon! Cheers, Icestorm815Talk 01:41, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
Very welcome... best of luck! :) Jmlk17 01:42, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Can you explain the semi-protection decline? I ask because I'd read the policy where it said, * Pages subject to significant but temporary vandalism or disruption, for example due to media attention, when blocking individual users is not a feasible option. which seemed to fit here. The IP and now a 2nd are doing nothing but vandalising the page. Am I missing something? Travellingcari (talk) 19:31, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Are you referring to the redirect, or the Legacy Five article? Jmlk17 19:33, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
the re-direct. Legacy Five is fine and having much constructive editing after I tagged it to the right projects for help. Special:Contributions/70.185.238.178's sole contributions have been vandalising the re-direct (it's not a content dispute by any means) and now another IP got in on it. I thought semi would be good until the IP got bored, but I wasn't sure that's why I asked. Travellingcari (talk) 20:16, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
Right on... I looked back, and there's no reason for the redirect to be edited (hence your request lol), so I have protected it for the time being. :) Jmlk17 20:17, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, wanted to make sure I wasn't misunderstanding something since this was my first time listing a page for protection. Travellingcari (talk) 20:22, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
No worries... happy editing! Jmlk17 20:23, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

please undelete Julio Bermejo

Hi, Jmlk17 I would ask that you please restore my new page about Julio Bermejo. He is a very important person in the world of tequila. I tried to explain in the article, and provided links to some major publications in english that he has appeared in over the last few years. I did not elaborate more on the nature of his business endeavors for fear of the article being deleted as marketing/pr, which it is not.

I respectfully ask that you read one or more of the news article links that I provided and so you can understand that he is definitely important enough to have his own page. I am sure that over time me and other wikipedians can help flesh out more exact details of Julio and update the page accordingly. I feel strongly that it is very important that Julio's significance in the world of tequila appreciation be documented as such.

Thanks for your consideration.

Re: Barnstar

I really appreciate that. Thanks Jmlk17! And thanks for the quick block on DisabledCat. He/She was going crazy vandalizing pages. Again, thanks and thanks :) - Milk's Favorite Cookie 01:35, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

What do you think of this. Speedy? AfD? POV tag? Thanks, Dlohcierekim Deleted? 01:40, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

Ooo boy... I'd say definite SD for an attack page. Seems like someone just wants to vent about an enemy of theirs. Jmlk17 01:41, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks. He does not seem to have a firm grasp of NPOV. Cheers, Dlohcierekim Deleted? 01:43, 20 February 2008 (UTC) IT's gone!! Dlohcierekim Deleted? 01:43, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

Fear of crickets

Is "No research. Poorly written" really a speedy deletion criterion? Wouldn't it have been better to list for prod or something? seresin | wasn't he just...? 02:07, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

Crap... I thought I had clicked the button for a "no context" deletion. :( Jmlk17 02:09, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
Hm. I don't think that qualifies particularly either. But anyway, not a huge deal I suppose. It is annoying to mishit a reason. seresin | wasn't he just...? 02:14, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
