Another editor has added the {{prod}} template to the article Police vehicle recovery schemes, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. A tag has been placed on John Edginton requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. The entry in Wine from the United Kingdom about John Edginton is totally unreferenced and should either be referenced or deleted. The reference used prior to my edit was taken from another paragraph from the article and did not mention any of the information from this user's edit. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Firebuild (talkcontribs) 20:47, 8 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry Firebird I do not understand what you mean. John Edginton is as far as my research has found, the first person who commercially planted wine grapes in the UK. This is supported by Lackham College where John Edginton is shortly to visit to be given a commemorative plaque. The next oldest i found was in 1956 by a Mr. Guy Salisbury way before the previous persons noted in this article (1960) who themselves were not referenced in anyway.

I also need to correct you on the monastic reference. it does not directly relate to the monasteries or the dissolution thereof. rather it refers to a period in time (>C.1900) when wine was no longer commercially sold in volume by monasteries or other religious communes. The phrase Monastic and post monastic are used all over the wine industry so I am not sure why you have picked on something that is in everyday parlance.

I'm not denying the veracity of your entry, but Wiki entries must be referenced. That is the rule. If you are researching this man and want to add him to the UK wine section, there must be references that are available for review by readers. It's not a perfect system but there you are! As for monastic periods, I have worked in the wine industry for 20 years in a variety of fields and have never heard it used, particularly calling the 20th century the "post monastic " era, but i will research it in my various wine books and wine encyclopedia. The fact that you are writing a book on this man might mean you will have to leave it to someone else to write the entry under the conflict of interest rules. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Firebuild (talkcontribs) 21:37, 9 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The article John Edginton has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one.
