Lake Louise State Park

I was surprised to read your oppose vote. I am wondering if you'd be willing to clarify for me what issues you have? And let me know if there's anything I could do to help answer them?

Is your concern entirely that you believe WP:AUTO should be policy rather than only a guideline? I admit (and explain somewhat in my RfA) that I feel that this is overused even as a guideline. Still, as a reason to oppose, this would have you vote against adminship for Jimbo Wales, Angela Beesley, Larry Sanger or Alan Cox on the same basis. Actually, while Category:Wikipedian autobiography is very incomplete, I doubt that nearly any active Wikipedian who is also notable in the "outside world" would pass by such a standard. Ruling out anyone who is worth having an article on from adminship is, I guess, something I would oppose pretty strongly—so I guess one thing I cannot do to reassure you is promise not to edit the article on me, since I just don't endorse that principle. I can certainly promise not to violate WP:NOR or WP:NPOV should I make such edits (which I may or may not; I'm not planning on editing the page on me, per se), but then I guess I would promise that for any article I might work on.

FWIW, if you read the edit history, you'll see that my edits to David Mertz are pretty insubstantial (there are pretty many rather minor ones; not quite "minor edit" in the sense of typo-only, but not the substance); it may appear that the initial thing was written by me, but the talk page indicates the actual source (in retrospect, I should have had some other editor copy over that, but I had just started editing, and had never noticed WP:AUTO at that point). I was nuetral before you answered the question on WP:AUTO, with the comment that I would weigh your answer. It is not because you edited the article on yourself or even because you created it that I voted oppose. (Though the number of edits you have made are more than the others you cited made to theirs, I think.) But the reason I oppose is your overall attitude toward this guideline, reflected in calling it "only" a guideline on this page, and calling it a "really bad rule" on another. I think it is a well-written guideline, carefully balanced, and motivated by important concerns shared by much of the community. Jonathunder 05:18, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

Originally the date of birth for Jesus of Nazareth was 1 (sometimes 1 AD/AD 1), then it was 1 BC, then vandalized to 1 "BCE" by an anonymous or infrequent user, reverted to BC, then vandalised back to "BCE" by you. NPOV

Thank you for your comment on the proposed requested move. You are right to say that NPOV and POV are very much part of Wikipedia language and evoke specific things - my concern (as shared by a few others on the mailing list) is that these are negative terms. Far better to stress the positive "let's aim for a neutral viewpoint" rather than the negative "stop POV warring". Also, they are quite unnecessary terms. In real life we use the word "opinion" rather than "POV". Is there any real benefit in using the term "POV" in Wikipedia rather than "opinion" or is the term really to the detriment of harmony? Río de la Plata (Puerto Rico)

Would you be horribly opposed to naming the article with the accent? I see that all the other articles in Category:Geography of Puerto Rico are named using accents and tildes as appropriate. Tomer^talk 22:21, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

I named it exactly like it is in the reference I wrote it from, which is a publication of a U.S. gov't agency. I would note almost all of the pre-existing links pointed to that spelling, too. Being bewildered...

What's been going on at Macedonia (Greece) and why has only User:Makedonas been 3RR blocked. The other user, User:Macedonian876 reverted 4 times to his yesterday version (that's not counting the sockpuppets) within a few hours and vandalised User:Makedonas's userpage after having being informed of the 3RR yesterday by me. --Latinus (talk (el:)) 22:08, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

Macedonian876 has been cautioned about the 3RR (including by me) and if he exceeded it after being warned I would block him, too. I don't see that he has, yet. If you are certain he is using sockpuppets to break the 3RR you can report that. Which other accounts do you believe he is using? Jonathunder 22:22, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

List of regions of the United States

• When looking at this page, I noticed that southern MN is not represented in any way. The closest it comes is the Pipestone region. I'd like to make a page for southern MN (or separate ones for southeast AND southwest) and I was hoping you would have some ideas or some recommendations for sources to use.
