Welcome to Wikipedia![edit]

Hello, Jrwilson1997. Welcome to Wikipedia! Thanks for your contributions. My name is Howicus, and I've been an editor here for some time. Here are a few links to pages you might find helpful:

If you're working on creating a new article, you should take a look at this page on your first article, and use the article wizard here to get started. Also, this page has instructions on how to cite sources, complete with videos.

If all this Wikicode is a little overwhelming, this cheatsheet may help untangle it.

If you're looking for a tutorial of sorts, The Wikipedia Adventure is a good option.

And if you need more help, I'd recommend getting live help at the Wikipedia help chat channel: click here to join. Additionally, you could ask me on my talk page, try the Teahouse (a help page for new users) or click here to ask for help here on your talk page and a volunteer will visit you here shortly

Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. Again, welcome, and have fun editing! Howicus (Did I mess up?) 20:21, 15 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Kurt Russell may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Talk:Robert Taylor (actor) page. I see that a section has already been started and you should comment there.

One thing I noticed that nobody mentioned is making links. Generally links to common words are discouraged, see Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Linking for information. So linking farmer turned doctor isn't usually done. Also cigarettes and other words using the letter s to form the plural would be linked as cigarettes. Cheers. January 2016[edit]

You added Liza Minnelli and Vincente Minnelli as notable people to Beverly Hills, California, citing this source. Where in that source does it say that either lived in Beverly Hills? Magnolia677 (talk) 23:50, 6 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

In paragraphs, 4, 5, and 8 of the LA Times article, it directly references a home in Beverly Hills, California Jrwilson1997 (talk) 13:07, 7, January 2016 (UTC)

Please carefully read the references you use. Magnolia677 (talk) 02:26, 8 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Just a note that Find a Grave is not considered a WP:Reliable source by many editors. Frankly, I would consider it to be fairly reliable, particularly when you consider all the data that you can normally find there, so I don't ordinarily challenge any info that is cited to it. Other editors might do so, however, so I just thought I would alert your to that possibility. I am not an Expert in All Things, but I have BeenAroundAWhile (talk) 15:01, 20 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox genres[edit]

The instructions at Template:Infobox musical artist tell how just the main genres should be displayed in the infobox, not an exhaustive list. The undisplayed lesser genres may be discussed in the article body. Binksternet (talk) 22:51, 23 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Same with list of instruments played by musicians. Just the famous ones; not an exhaustive list. Binksternet (talk) 22:57, 23 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The list isn't too much if that's what the artists are known for genre wise, so why limit it to four genres if they've done more

You clearly did not read the guideline I linked to, which says that a few of the main genres can be displayed, perhaps even four of them. Nobody is suggesting that only one genre can be listed. Binksternet (talk) 00:11, 24 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I've read the guidelines very clearly. It seems right to list the one that they're prominent in as well. Thanks for the suggestions.

Stop icon Do not use multiple IP addresses to vandalize Wikipedia, like you did at The Doobie Brothers. Such attempts to avoid detection or circumvent the blocking policy will not succeed. You are welcome to contribute constructively to Wikipedia but your recent edits have been reverted or removed. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Please do not abuse WP:MULTIPLE by editing with your account and also editing logged out as Special:Contributions/173.71.93.46. Binksternet (talk) 00:34, 24 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not using multiple accounts at all. And am not abusing nor vandalizing. Just contributing by adding the right information about The Doobie Brothers' associated acts. They have toured with Chicago over five times. 1. Thanks for the concern.

Find a Grave[edit]

Hi there. Thanks for looking for citations to add to articles, but Find a Grave is not a reliable source. See Wikipedia:External links/Perennial websites. Please don't cite this website. You can sometimes find reliable sources to cite in the Google News Archive. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 04:57, 29 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open![edit]

Hello, Jrwilson1997. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
