Volleyball

Greetings, as you see in my talk and Intoronto1125's, we are not agree about having just one article for Volleyball and Beach volleyball. There are interwiki, a template and just adding beach volleyball content under volleyball make it larger and difficult to read. His argument is make it like Olympics, and may be valid in certain way, but there should be another intermediate solution, making a template that links both articles volleyball and beach volleyball in every pan american game, just like Olympics do. I would like to hear from you, thanks. Osplace 01:21, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

I just would like to know, why if I had reverted the edits he did on those volleyball article, my reverts do not appear in the history? He seems to be powerful, and he do not need consensus to modify anything, that's ok to me. This is not MY wikipedia, but... Yes, I feel dissapointed. If something like that would happened to me again, I would leave Wikipedia for ever. Osplace 01:53, 18 September 2012 (UTC)
Now we have the beach volleyball content repeated in the indoor articles, for example the 2003 indoor and beach. Is this ok? He haven not even reply to me anymore. He just do whatever he wants, as he wants. I meant that he is powerful because he is "the coordinator of the Pan American Games project over at WP:MSE". I will work so hard in something, so I can breach all the coordiated wikipedia policies and do whatever I want... Osplace 14:57, 18 September 2012 (UTC)
Ok, I will for sure. Osplace 15:02, 18 September 2012 (UTC)

eurobasket qualifying

do you know what they are going to do for the third place in Group A to compare them to the other 3rd place finishers? I can't find an answer anywhere.18abruce (talk) 23:07, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

could be, in 2009 they used winning percentage, either way I put up a link on the main discussion page that confirms Bosnia, and Czech, but dosen't list Finland but I think it is safe to say that they are in as well because they conclude that 3rd with 5 wins is enough.18abruce (talk) 12:55, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
look here, they will use winning percent to compare the third place teams.18abruce (talk) 19:53, 8 September 2012 (UTC)

Hello, I have checked the rules and that's why i have edited that ISRAEL is already qualified for the eurobasket 2013 What counts is the winning percentage, and if there is a tie between 2 groups or more, they look who has the most positive points Some people thought because group A has 1 more team, that the games against the last team in that group (ICELAND) would be erased but that's not the situation.

Now to the fact about Israel. They have a 6-3 record and even if they lose the last game, they will have a 6-4 record, what will be enough in any situation to be in the top 4, 3rd place teams. The best any other team can finish in 3rd position is Latvia in Group D who could be on a 5-3 record if they win the last games. All the other 3rd teams will finish in the best scenario, with a 4-4 record, who is less good than Israel's 5-4 record if they lose in the last game. The only thing that could happen is if Israel lose the last game by 90 points, they will drop down to 4th spot in group A but everybody knows that won't happen. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.99.12.254 (talk) 00:40, 10 September 2012 (UTC)

World League

I'm looking to separate mens' and womens' article, sorry if i'm just able to work for men currently. Across the field hockey tournament, we always separate for men's and women's tournament --Aleenf1 23:08, 10 September 2012 (UTC)

olympic qualifying

I have a rather unreliable connection, so I chip away because if I transmit a change and it is interrupted I lose the contents of the edit. Sorry if it is a bit of a pain.18abruce (talk) 19:46, 18 September 2012 (UTC)

In actual fact I did one big edit and it failed, so I did little bits before and after getting my daughter from the school bus. Sorry if I created needless edit conflicts.18abruce (talk) 19:57, 18 September 2012 (UTC)
Unless I copy the page before transmitting, the changes I make are lost, should be doing that more often I guess. Too bad Sherbatov is in France or this game might have been more interesting.18abruce (talk) 20:11, 18 September 2012 (UTC)

World League 2012/14 Men

Check this out, I found it in a PDF file by the FIH with every detail about the WL: "Method of qualifying for Round 4 Round 4 of the FIH World League will be played in one tournament with 8 teams. The National Associations playing in Round 4 will be a) The host of the tournament. b) 7/8 teams qualified from Round 3." So it doesn't matter that India is hosting both Round 2 and Round 4, they have the right to play in both just for beign the host nation. --User:matias_moreno89talk 16:31, 23 September 2012 (UTC-03)

Google this: "The FIH World League will commence every even year". The file is the only link that will appear. It actually does matter, because if they don't qualify for Round 3 they'll not have a berth in the World Cup, even if they host Round 4 after that. Round 3 is the qualifier for World cup or Olympic Game, is the most important round.
I don't get why the discipline information is useless. In every match report in other sports like football they put the discipline information. If we don't put the information that don't affect the outcome of the game, we might as well erase the names of the umpires. I think it should stay, it appears in every major hockey tournament's article. User:matias_moreno89talk 16:55, 23 September 2012 (UTC-03)
Who hosts each tournament appears in the calendar pdf, in the FIH website in the Calendar section. Check out every year's file, that's where I took the info from. User:matias_moreno89talk 17:01, 23 September 2012 (UTC-03)

CL templetes

They are used in the same way Because each match template is used in at least 3 pages, ad example this is used in the 2012-13 PSG season, 2012-13 Dinamo Kyiv season and CL group page, as the same of all match of the Olympic template. The group standings is used in the four teams' season page, on the CL group page and on the CL page. So I think is quite enough. -- Stigni (talk) 12:52, 29 September 2012 (UTC)

about your SD tag

Hey, Kante4, I just wanted to let you know that I removed your A3 speedy deletion tag from Somogyi26:Draft part2 to Szentagothai article. It's pretty clearly just a misplaced draft, so I took off your tag and moved it to the proper location at User:Somogyi26/Draft part2 to Szentagothai article. Thanks! Table tennis bios

I am currently working on a table tennis bio (still developing), and went to WP:WPTT. They feature a list of table tennis players, and some of the best are: Vladimir Samsonov, Wang Liqin, Wang Hao (table tennis), Jan-Ove Waldner and Zhang Jike. What happens is, that according to their wikiproject they don't even rank their articles like the rest of the english wikipedia. The articles I just mentioned are not according to the rest of the guidelines, like WP:BIO, WP:LEAD, WP:REF, etc. The bios of table tennis player are biographies of living people most of them, but are not ok. What should I do? Reduce the article to what they use, keep it and forget about them? And can anybody say something to them? Thanks, Osplace 05:20, 5 October 2012 (UTC)

I think the article in your sandbox is ok and good. I also think that more infos who can be verified can/should be added, have no problem with it. If i got you right. :p So, while the other articles are quite good and does not have as much info as you do they are also solid. For some players we have more sources and infos, simple as that. ;) Kante4 (talk) 12:26, 5 October 2012 (UTC)

Cycling - Omnium

The European Track Championships before 2010 were seens as championships for U23. However the name was not called: European Track U23 Championship. And as example in 2008 there was held an elite women's omnium event. So why we should delete these events from Wikipedia? Because in 2008 the U23 event was called European Track Championships the first sentence: The Women's omnium at the European Track Championships was first competed in 2010. is wrong at the European Track Championships – Women's omnium page.

Help me to design Association football line-ups for AFF Suzuki Cup 2012

Kante4 I need your help for designing the Football Line-Ups of 2012 AFF Suzuki Cup (2012 AFF Suzuki Cup Group A/ 2012 AFF Suzuki Cup Group B). Here are the official website AFF Suzuki Cup official website. Wester.Inc (talk)

Int hockey template

There might not be a link in that template to the article, but there is a link to the Champions Challenge article. The 2012 edition is a Champions Challenge event, and is part of the international field hockey. The template should appear to allow to go from one competition to the other. Besides, every hockey event article has the International hockey template. Also just as an example, the FIFA World Cups have the international football template, even though their especific links do not appear in that template. --M&m89 (talk) 20:19, 3 December 2012 (UTC)

Keeping that in mind then every hockey event article should be modified, because every single one hast it. And the football and the basketball ones as well. Besides, some additional information never hurt anyone. It is related to the article.--M&m89 (talk) 20:36, 3 December 2012 (UTC)
Mistakenly clicked that, I'm not accusing anyone of vandalism. I'm sorry for that. --M&m89 (talk) 03:17, 9 December 2012 (UTC)

EHF 2014

Hello!

Yeah, it has been a while.. :) Logo is up, though probably not the best looking, but I guess with time EHF will come out with higher quality images when we're getting closer to the tournament. Like they came out with a full pack of logos in every format and resolution for this ECh. Btw. it might well be my bad, but I cannot go back further than July 2013 in the European Championship related news on eurohadball.com. Is there a button I don't see, or another way to go back to the older news?! Seems if you don't catch the news when they're hot, then you miss it all... Thehoboclown (talk) 22:52, 16 December 2012 (UTC)

Sure, we're not in a hurry. Sooner or later everything will be fixed and done. I'm off for now, keep up the great work in the sports topic! Thehoboclown (talk) 23:06, 16 December 2012 (UTC)

Referees at 2013 handball world championship

Hey Kante

Do you have any more information about the referee-teams? Either they are 17 teams as García and Marin are refereeing or the Norwegian team isn't there as they haven't refereed any game. All other referees have had at least one game in the tournament.

2013 African Cup of Nations

How do you edit so fast, I have it on a live scores website seconds from when it actually happens and I go to edit it and have already done it. Thanks

As you can see from this and this picture, Ethiopians use there first names as last names like Brazilians like Ronaldo and Ronaldinho do. Can you change the SVG you made for the Zambia vs. Ethiopia game to reflect that. I don't want to mess up you BEAUTIFUL work. I gotta learn how to do that. — አቤል ዳዊት?(Janweh64) (talk) 02:49, 22 January 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for following up. Usually, I am met with resistance when I point this out about Ethiopian names. I have had to keep a close watch to protect these players' names as they become more popular. Wikipedia has the power to influence and propagate through out the internet. Once a person becomes known by a certain name and spelling of that name it is close to impossible to get the web to revert to the correct name. Now if I could only change the spelling of Saladin to Salahdin. But according to WP:COMMONNAME, its gotta stay. But rules were made for a reason. I hope the internet catches up and starts spelling it the way it is on his jersey. BTW, I might leave a message during the next game to remind you to do it this way again.— አቤል ዳዊት?(Janweh64) (talk) 06:17, 23 January 2013 (UTC)

African Nations Cup Group D page : why did you undo my revisions to the team formations in the first round of matches (Alg-Tun and CIV-Tog)? I make notes of the formations which the teams used in the games themselves when I watch the games, and I corrected the list of players positions accordingly. These are based on the actual positions inhabited during the early stages of the game (before later tactical adjustments and substitutions etc). And not on some "guess" shown as a graphic by the TV channel, or distributed by CAF or whoever before the game. Only the team itself knows the formation before the game. In future please make sure all formations reflect the actual matchplay. If they are based only on guesswork in advance then they should be clearly labelled as such, with a disclaimer. I did not update the formation diagrams, though I would have liked to, because I did not have time; so those remain wrong. A simpler approach which I could take to dealing with the wrong information on the formations diagrams is to just delete it; instead I left them intact and made a comment in my edit note that they should be adjusted. If you are going to meddle, then please follow this advice. Or at least provide some evidence why you think my changes are incorrect. 89.243.18.150 (talk) 22:01, 23 January 2013 (UTC)

File:Soccer Line-up

Hello, I was wondering if you could help me and tell me how do you use the Empty soccer line-up file to put out onto pages with the players names on it instead of the positions. If you know what I mean. Thanks Skyblueshaun, 15:57 23 January 2013 (UTC)

Basically, Do you know on the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations. For the matches in Group A,B,C and D you have placed a lineup for each match. I just don't know how you can use a basic plane empty soccer line up template but put the players name on the line up with the pitch in the background. It's hard to explain but would appreciate your help. Thanks Skyblueshaun, 00:02 24 January 2013 (UTC)

What you just did in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations Group C match between Zambia and Nigeria. How do you do the match line up file in the middle of the two teams. Skyblueshaun 15:37 25 January 2013 (UTC)

Sorry, but I still don't understand. Skyblueshaun 15:53, 25 January 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, but how do you create the file in the first place. I know how to upload the empty soccer line up file but how do you get the players onto that file? Skyblueshaun 16:21, 25 January 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, I've downloaded that, now what? Skyblueshaun 16:46, 25 January 2013 (UTC)
