Season stats

Hi,

I need to check something. When it comes to season stats for any sport, are the current season's stats to be added after the season concludes or is it okay to update them in the middle of the season? I am just asking, because a few people have updated hockey stats for this season for a few players. Suden13 (talk) 14:56, 12 April 2021 (UTC)

NHL team leaders

Hi. I noticed that you update this page quite often. May I ask if it is required that the team leaders that are indicated in the infobox should be updated after every game? I haven't updated any NHL game log this season (except for one instance), but it is clear to me that whoever is updating the game logs is also updating the team leaders. Yowashi says that player statistics should not always be updated after every game because of the likelihood of committing errors. Are the team leaders indicated in each game recap? Its looks to me like a serious case of vandalism. Edits should be reverted and a warning and a block should be given, as it was a deliberate and planned act, plus probably a recidive. I dunno how to revert several edits at the same time. Thank you for helpin TheGreenGiant23 (talk) 08:56, 17 April 2021 (UTC)

ENGLAND FIELD HOCKEY TEAM

Firstly, this is the first time I have used "talk", so apologies for delay.

You will know that I mainly update England & GB Field hockey squads and the clubs, not those of other countries

I appreciate any comments, but not the deletion of statistics which some people, including myself refer to.

I thought the point of Wikipedia was to provide true and accurate information? One of the problems with field hockey is that there is not a lot of information, and the FIH although very good, is not always accurate.

You may or may not (?) have a very good understanding of hockey in England. Sometimes individual countries compete and at other times Great Britain compete. Some players change nationality, after a certain period, i.e. Ian Sloan & David Ames, who are Irish (hence the nationality flags being included - one of your queries.

I appreciate you adding more information, i.e. squads for the Olympics, but please do not delete the information I have spent a lot of time collating. If you think there should be another page for statistics, or have any other suggestions, then I am open-minded.

Hey Kante

I started a separate article for the 2021 Men's IHF/EHF Trophy and I removed the content from the 2024 European Men's Handball Championship qualification. (With a separate article it's also allowed to upload the logo.)

Not that you think that I vandalized your article. ;-) Malo95 (talk) 18:30, 10 June 2021 (UTC)

@Malo95: Nah, all good. I thought it was small enough not for a new article but no problem. I just saw that and added it to my watchlist with a bit of cleanup. Kante4 (talk) 18:34, 10 June 2021 (UTC)

3x3 basketball qualification to the Tokyo Olympics

Hi!

First of all, thank you so much for all your work on the 3x3 basketball qualification to the Tokyo Olympics pages: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basketball_at_the_2020_Summer_Olympics_%E2%80%93_Women's_3x3_qualification and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basketball_at_the_2020_Summer_Olympics_%E2%80%93_Men's_3x3_qualification

I just wanted to comment on something which may be misleading for the readers regarding the standings.

In 3x3 basketball, the standings are regulated in the rules of the game: https://fiba3x3.com/docs/fiba-3x3-basketball-rules-full-version.pdf (p.68)

Basically the 3 main criteria to classify the teams when there is no game to separate them (like a classification game) are: 1. Winning %age 2. Head to head record 3. Most points scored in average

In the tables that were used in these articles, you listed points scored, points against and point difference, which is interesting but makes me wanna thing as a reader that point difference is the tie-breaker.

For the men for instance, it shows Brazil with the best point difference though they only are ranked 3rd of all 4 teams eliminated at the quarter-final stage.

My suggestion would be to change the table structure from:

Pld - W - L - PF - PA - PD

to

Pld - W - L - W% (W/Pld or W/Pld x 100 depending on your own convention) - PF - APF (average points scored which would be PF/Pld)

This would be a great way to educate the readers about the standings system in 3x3 basketball.

Is that something you could do? If not, I'll try to give it a go. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.202.191.110 (talk) 11:28, 11 June 2021 (UTC)

@62.202.191.110: Under each table there is a rules for classification parameter, which shows the readers how teams are ranked. Is that confusing and should be changed? Kante4 (talk) 15:04, 11 June 2021 (UTC)

If I'm looking at the men's standings at the OQT for instance, there is no classification rules under the table and the point difference makes it still confusing (e.g. look at Brazil). If you could change, I think it's a real added value.

EuroBasket Women 2021 Group B

Hi!

On FIBA website the final score of the game between Montenegro and Greece was changed form 70-55 to 69-55. Is it possible to change the final score a game?

(Almagestas (talk) 11:12, 19 June 2021 (UTC))

@Almagestas: Hey, yeah that is possible when they review a shot taken late in the game, which was a 3 and not a 2 like originally called. Kante4 (talk) 11:39, 19 June 2021 (UTC)

Sharks schedule

Hi. I was wondering if I could get in on the game log edits tomorrow for the sharks? Maybe we can split the season up so we each could get some edits in. I hope you understand. Thanks. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 00:05, 22 July 2021 (UTC)

@GoWarriors151718: I don't mind if you edit it first, that is not important. It's in the middle of the night for me aswell, so i won't get it done until late friday or saturday morning. Kante4 (talk) 14:03, 22 July 2021 (UTC)
@Kante4: How come you changed the format of the schedule? The format I used was the one that was used for the 2019–20 season and it is also used by nearly all the other teams currently. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 18:25, 26 July 2021 (UTC)
@GoWarriors151718: It was used last year and saw it on several other NHL season articles. No need to list San Jose every time. No one was against it, so it was "ok" for all i guess. ;) Kante4 (talk) 18:45, 26 July 2021 (UTC)
@Kante4: Ah. Okay. Fair points. I understand it now. Thanks for clearing it up. Next season (2022-23) I will be prepared on how to do it. 😉 GoWarriors151718 (talk) 18:50, 26 July 2021 (UTC)

@GoWarriors151718:No need to ping me, as it's my talk page. ;) Yeah, i will still watch the games but afterwards as they play in the middle of the night for me and turn the page and all player articles off my watchlist. Hopefully they are as excited as i am every time a new season starts and i hope they are better than last year(s). Kante4 (talk) 18:57, 26 July 2021 (UTC)

Tandara Caixeta

Hey, I noticed you updated Tandara Caixeta's article for earning a silver medal, though this was partially removed by another user as she was provisionally suspended for a positive doping test. Should she be listed with a silver medal on her article and medal tables such as Volleyball at the 2020 Summer Olympics#Medalists? The Olympic website lists her here as a silver medalist, with the note "Athlete Nr. 11 CAIXETA Tandara (BRA) suspended". I assume she would only be stripped of the medal after a final ruling has been made? S.A. Julio (talk) 13:20, 9 August 2021 (UTC)

@S.A. Julio: As she is also listed in the list who earned a medal, it should stay (for now until more is known). I also realized you made some changes to players who did not receive a medal, sorry for causing that trouble as i believed everyone in the official roster file would get a medal. Kante4 (talk) 13:32, 9 August 2021 (UTC)
Alright, I'll restore her to the medalist lists. And no problem, I was just going through the Olympic medalist documents to compare with List of 2020 Summer Olympics medal winners and Category:Medalists at the 2020 Summer Olympics to fix any mistakes. The situation with alternates is a bit confusing/unclear, while it was announced that alternates could appear, I have not seen any announcement from the IOC regarding medals for alternates. The only information I have seen is from here, which states The IOC also ruled that a player must be on an 18-player game day roster in order to be considered an Olympian and receive a medal. So I guess for the five sports mentioned in the IOC article (field hockey, football, handball, rugby sevens and water polo), the designated alternates are required to be named in a matchday squad (starter or on the bench) to receive a medal. If the IOC considers all alternates who were not included in a matchday squad (such as Freeke Moes or Victoria Esson) to not be Olympians, should they therefore be removed from all categories pertaining to the 2020 games? S.A. Julio (talk) 14:35, 9 August 2021 (UTC)
@S.A. Julio: As they are listed in the roster files, i would let the categories stay, but that's just me. Curious situation, would be easier for us when they would include all players as medal winners. Kante4 (talk) 15:32, 9 August 2021 (UTC)

@GoWarriors151718: No worries, you could have done that without a problem. Kante4 (talk) 10:52, 5 October 2021 (UTC)

Thanks. I guess I was just worried that if I did that along with the other 2-3 edits that I made with the Sharks page on that day that you would have been mad at me. Handball contribution

Hello Kante! It's a joy to see someone so active on handball articles, as they need as much attention as other sports. I was just wondering what you think of a List of footballers with 500 or more goals but for handball players with national team goals instead?? Something along the lines of List of handballers with 1000 or more international goals. Other sports got soooo many similar lists, so it doesn't seem like a problem, right? Of course it's not up to me to decide what the cut off should be, but a lot of players scored 500 goals for their national team, so that doesn't seem too special, but only a few, like 15 or so? scored 1000 or more for their national team. It would also be a complete list without missing players, as handball players didn't play that many national team matches pre 1990. Is that something you could create in the future? @Speun: Hmm, interesting idea. Not sure if it's "needed" or notable enough but i would say yes. Maybe raise it at Wikipedia:WikiProject Handball? Kante4 (talk) 20:48, 15 October 2021 (UTC)
Awesome! It would be great to see handball getting those informative lists just like all the other big sport has. Handball in general is really struggling on wikipedia. Even the greatest players ever in the sport got tiny articles, which is sad. I think the list would be interesting to people who are into handball. I myself got interested in seeing who are the top international scorers for their national team, but there wasn't really any list anywhere about it. I will try to put the idea into the project handball, but the talk page seems a little bit dead :( Speun (talk) 17:50, 16 October 2021 (UTC)

Sharks

I was wondering if I could please assist you with filling in the game log for this season? I promise that I will do it in 1-2 edits and I promise that I will be prompt. Thanks. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 19:43, 24 October 2021 (UTC)

You can edit whatever you want, same for me. As this is one of the rare games (one of only five maybe) i watched live i edited it. If you are quicker, fine, but if i want to edit it i do it. ;) Kante4 (talk) 19:45, 24 October 2021 (UTC)

Ah. Okay. That’s fair. Anyway, that was a tough loss. What do you think of them so far? I think we can be a playoff team. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 19:46, 24 October 2021 (UTC)

No worries but everyone can edit what they want and i am not a fan of splitting up, who ever is available can update it. I hit publish and 2 seconds later the attendance was added, so even i would have needed another edit. So far, so good. Now it's intresting how they react to the first loss. But at least it is more fun to watch than the years before. Kante4 (talk) 19:50, 24 October 2021 (UTC)

Yeah. I understand and respect your stance. And I agree. These losses do happen and so it will be interesting to see how they bounce back. And you’re right. They seem like they have an extra punch in the offense this season and it seems like it is because of the goalies being more solid this season so far. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 19:54, 24 October 2021 (UTC)

It’s great to see the Sharks fighting hard despite the quality and quantity of players dealing with COVID. Back to back impressive wins. The goalies also are stepping up to the challenge. Anyway…I just thought I would get in touch with you since you’re a sharks fan like me and things are going well right now. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 05:14, 3 November 2021 (UTC)

@GoWarriors151718: Yeah but like i said, i watch all the games delayed (minimum 12 hours most of the time) and trying not to get any update or result, that didn't work this time because of your message (have all Sharks related pages off my watchlist)... Kante4 (talk) 11:29, 3 November 2021 (UTC)

Sorry. My mistake. Thanks for the heads up. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 19:49, 3 November 2021 (UTC)

German 2022–23

My mistake on updating the 2021–22 German football season. Is it to soon to create the 2022–23 season???Tomrtn (talk) 05:16, 29 October 2021 (UTC)

@Tomrtn: No problem. Not sure but i would wait a bit until the first teams in the league(s) are announced. Or what do you think? Kante4 (talk) 15:17, 29 October 2021 (UTC)
After teams have secured a place in league sounds good Tomrtn (talk) 22:41, 29 October 2021 (UTC)
