Attempt at humor unfortunately mistaken as vandalism: apologies.

Greetings:

On November 15 2012 I made an edit to your user page. I added the line: "And despite his Irish roots has completely embraced the genteel English art of distingué self-deprecation." at the end of your user page.

I'm sorry if you thought that was vandalism. I thought it was humor and that it was in keeping with the tone of your user page. (Version before my edit, Version with my edit, Version after you reverted my edit).

Please accept my apologies, and I'm sorry if this had anything to do with your decision not to keep a user page anymore.

Disambiguation link notification for May 3

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Colchester, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page William Gull (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Unofficial Football World Championships may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on 2018 FIFA World Cup. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware, Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made; that is to say, editors are not automatically "entitled" to three reverts.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing.
I expect more from you as you know BRD Walter Görlitz (talk) 21:54, 22 June 2014 (UTC)

WP:NPOV is a key value. Neutral language is to be preferred over that which presumes a judgement on events, and given that Wikipedia cannot be considered a source, its choice of article titles certainly cannot be. If the article in question defines it as aincorporation, why should another article not describe it as such? And given that the only relevance is publicity seeking comments by politicians who have no authority on the matter, it is questionable whether it has any relevance to the 2018 article anyway, even without using biased language. AFD nominations

Please read WP:BEFORE as well as WP:AFD, Editors are expected to do some searching before nomination which you clearly haven't done,
It's now bordering on disruptive editing and you will blocked for it which no one wants,
Anyway take a break & read all the relevant policies,
Cheers, –Davey2010(talk) 17:22, 16 September 2014 (UTC)

speedy deletion criteria make no such requirement. Kevin McE (talk) 17:25, 16 September 2014 (UTC)

Your AFD nominations

Please read WP:BEFORE: "D. Search for additional sources, if the main concern is notability." --NeilN talk to me 16:47, 16 September 2014 (UTC)

I AfDed on the speedy deletion grounds of no importance asserted. Please read the grounds on which I nominated before posting such messages. Kevin McE (talk) 17:01, 16 September 2014 (UTC)
Please search for references before wasting other editors' time. Cleverly choosing your words does not get you out of this. --NeilN talk to me 17:11, 16 September 2014 (UTC)
Please explain what steps you have taken to have WP:DEL-REASON#1 and WP:A7 withdrawn. If you haven't, then your words are inconsistent with your actions, so I'll ignore them. Kevin McE (talk) 17:22, 16 September 2014 (UTC)

You're certainly allowed to remove some items from your own talk page as you did here, but it gives an appearance of simply not liking that others have politely pointed out guideline and policy, and such action can act against you at discussions elsewhere of your particular editing habits seeming to run contrary to policy and guideline. Be well, and good luck. Schmidt, Michael Q. 23:50, 16 September 2014 (UTC)

I asked him to demonstrate the consistency of his actions, and told him that I would ignore him unless he did. Because he did not do the former, I do the latter. Kevin McE (talk) 23:56, 16 September 2014 (UTC)

AfD warning

It looks as if other people trying to show you were you are going wrong haven't had any success, so I'll make it clear: if you continue to nominate articles for deletion which are about notable subjects (as established after spending some effort on Google searches), you will be blocked.

Not every AfD needs to be successful, many of my AfDs end in keep or no consensus. But starting an AfD for lack of notability without doing any effort to find sources yourself is against policies and guidelines, and continuing to do so after it has been explained to you is disruptive. Speedy deletion criteria have nothing to do with this, and don't apply to films and so on anyway; but note that e.g. a record can only be speedy deleted if the musician or band are a redlink: similarly, we wouldn't speedy delete a film article where the main actors are bluelinks even if we had a speedy criterion for films. Sod this

I used to contribute a lot here. I haven't so much recently, but having some recuperation time with limited mobility, I thought I would do some random article hopping, and try to improve the errors that I come across as a reader of Wikipedia that make it look amateurish. But the extraordinary incivility and bullying that I encountered makes me regret that choice.

This project could be great if there weren't so such aggressive and arrogant defenders of their own right to retain pointless uninformative stubs that fail to meet even the barest requirements. As it is, it is good despite them, but something I have a lot less interest in than 48 hours ago. Kevin McE (talk) 14:28, 17 September 2014 (UTC)
