I'm not exactly sure what an open proxy is, but did you verify that this is an open proxy, or is there some other process where I can request someone verify this? Besides editing from home, I'd like to sometimes edit from my work, which has a shared wireless dynamic IP access (e.g. 203.247.145.6 or 203.247.145.10 etc. It's a pretty large company with a serious security policy, so I'd be surprised if this was truly an "open proxy," although because it is shared by a lot of people, there may be some occasional anonymous vandalism. But if that's the concern, shouldn't I be able to edit after logging into my account?

Open proxy confirmation[edit]

You definitely have an open proxy running on port 90. Otherwise I wouldn't have been able to have made this edit as 203.247.145.10 despite being in Sydney, Australia. You might want to pass on the following links to your company's sysadmin or IT department to look into this further.

It's a very serious breach of network security if anyone can hijack your network to masquerade their IP address. Apologies for the inconvenience, but vandals and spammers often attack Wikipedia through such open proxies.
