IM IN UR BASE KILLIN UR D00DZ[edit]

The article failed to provide any reliable sources as to the so-called meme's notability. User:Zoe|(talk) 19:13, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's pretty much impossible for me to contact all of the editors of every non-notable article I delete. There are far too many. I can move the article to your User space at User:Kosmonaut/IM IN UR BASE KILLIN UR D00DZ, if you want, so you can work on it there. But we do need reliable sources. User:Zoe|(talk) 19:29, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK, it's moved to your User space. User:Zoe|(talk) 23:14, 17 November 2006 (UTC) --Thanks! User:Kosmonaut 18:16, 17 December 2006[reply]

Internet memes[edit]

Just because a phrase is used on the internet doesn't mean we can have an article about it. We're not a slang dictionary, and we require sources for articles. Friday (talk) 19:38, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Is it currently Wikipedia policy to do a speedy deletion on an article that doesn't cite its sources? Cdk 20:25, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not for that reason, no. See WP:CSD for the official speedy deletion criteria. In practice, people also frequently delete stuff they consider undesirable content, even if it doesn't exactly match a CSD. Friday (talk) 17:02, 18 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Warning about content from Encyclopedia Dramatica[edit]

I noticed that you uploaded Image:Fridgecat.jpg, which came from Encyclopedia Dramatica. Unfortunately, according to a recent Arbitration Committee case, Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/MONGO#Enforcement, editors may be blocked for importing material from that site, because that site is full of personal attacks against, personal information on, and libel against many prominent Wikipedia users and administrators. I am giving you this warning so that you will not wind up getting blocked for importing material from that site, and because I think that you did not know that this material is disallowed on Wikipedia. Jesse Viviano 05:54, 21 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the reply. Also, another reason that ED is considered a bad source is that many of its articles are known to be false, because one of ED's goals is to be a parody encyclopedia. For one particularly disgusting and obvious example, see its article titled "JEWS DID WTC". Jesse Viviano 01:55, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Environmental Protection Userbox[edit]

Hi Kosmonaut,

Thanks for using the userbox that I created (the one about supporting environmental protection). I'm glad that there're people in the world who care about the environment just as much as I do. Please encourage your friends to put up this userbox if they have accounts in Wikipedia. If you have any questions about environmental protection, please don't hesitate to contact me by wiki.

Just to let you know, you're dead wrong about key lime pie.[edit]

I was born and raised in Key West, Florida. Genuine key lime pie has meringue on top. The source you cited is complete bunk. It is someone’s personal website and is not reliable. It is irrelevant how you or people you know in San Francisco make the pie. San Francisco is not in the Florida Keys and your opinions have absolutely no merit in regards to authentic key lime pie. The description before you vandalized is accurate. You should check with proper sources become a bit more informed before you attempt to make corrections on things you know absolutely nothing of. - Marc Averette 13:45, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
