Hi KrakatoaKatie. It looks like this was probably not a good close, and was a mistake. That's OK, this is a very big and fast-moving project and we all make mistakes, and I've certainly made plenty, and of course no one would cast aspersion on you on you as I'm sure you do many useful and needful things here and we appreciate that, and of course no one is perfect. There's no real problem provided we move quickly to undue the mistake and move forward. Does that seem OK to you?
Here's why it was a mistake:
- Your interpretation of the passage cited in your close is probably a misreading, and more importantly is certainly arguably a misreading. The passage was written only to clarify that that particular decision applies only to the one band, to limit the scope of that decision, not to mandate case-by-case discussions for all cases in future.
- Case-by-case discussions generally are inefficient use of resources, and requiring them for the indefinite future would probably not be a good use of time.
- The default is that we are permitted, as a community, to discuss and decide these things.
The best person to retract the close would be you. Could you do this favor? This would be a great boon and I'd much appreciate it, thanks! (I've not read the above thread or the WP:AN thread or the other threads mentioned there -- these sort of things tend to divide people into "camps" so let's just ignore all that; and of course I understand it's not so easy to admit a mistake, but I have confidence in your abilities to rise above all that.) You had protected this against creation, without making a redirect to Dev (actor). I inadvertently moved another grossly incorrectly titled article here, before making the redirect to the correct title. So my redirect is now in place, Is there any reason why the redirect is not appropriate? If people have twice created pages under the wrong name, a redirect is the best way of preventing it, unless there's some actual objection. Pls let me know on my talk p. In 30 days, we will know the identity of our 2013 WikiCup champion. 
Cwmhiraeth (submissions) currently leads; if that lead is held, she will become the first person to have won the WikiCup twice. 
Sasata (submissions), 
Hawkeye7 (submissions)—who has never participated in the competition before—and 
Casliber (submissions) follow. The majority of points in this round have come from a mix of good articles and bonus points. This final round is seeing contributions to a number of highly important topics; recent submissions include Phoenix (constellation) (FA by Casliber), Ernest Lawrence (GA by Hawkeye7), Pinniped, and red fox (both GAs by Sasata).
The did you know (DYK) eligibility criteria have recently changed, meaning that newly passed good articles are accepted as "new" for did you know purposes. However, in the interests of not changing the WikiCup rules mid-competition, please note that only articles eligible for DYK under the old system (that is, newly created articles or 5x expansions) will be eligible for points in this year's WikiCup. We do, however, have time to discuss how this new system will work for next year's competition; a discussion will be opened in due course. On that note, thoughts are welcome on changes you'd like to see for next year. What worked? What didn't work? What would you like to see more of? What would you like to see less of? All Wikipedians, new or old, are also warmly invited to sign up for the 2014 WikiCup.

- No problem - I was happy to help out, because I could tell I was just about the only active admin who didn't have a dog in the fight. I'm glad consensus was clear, but I'm really glad that I'm not going to have to copy/paste those edit requests to protected templates anymore. I know a little bit about the template syntax - enough to be very dangerous - but not nearly enough to understand some of those requests.

Hey, thanks for adding the page protection per my request. I'm wondering if there's any way to delete/redact the two recent edits he made on that account. My rationale is that if he is setting up for another vandal attack, he should be dissuaded from accessing his setup materials. Can I ask why you protected the article about Trap Music? I am from the UK and attempted to give greater clarity on the recent origins of Trap Music in the US. Which while being cited as the 'new dubstep' actually is the cross-fertilisation of Crunk and a UK rap genre called Grime. Grime itself is the Rap based progenitor of Dubstep. The debates about Trap's origins mirror the debates about Brostep and other American efforts at rebadging Dubstep.
I pointed Static to articles interviewing RL Grime who is cited in the Trap Music article as major producer, who stated that the UK bass scene was a key influence on his music. Additionally under Dubstep, Trap is cited a sub genre, so I fail to see why Stylistic origins of Trap cannot be given to Dubstep and Grime. Particularly when you bear in mind, both genres are a full decade older! It has nothing to do with original research the producers of Trap Music have cited UK bass scenes as an influence. Although Trap isnt cited in the article, RL Grime is trap producer so we are talking semantics. It is akin to referring to Bob Lutz in relation to the car industry and merely saying that in a cited article he doesn't specifically talk about car production. This seems like a deliberate attempt at obfuscation...

This publication was founded in 1978 and therefore you cannot cite it as an unestablished reference. I will readily admit as administrator your responses to the points I have raised have been disappointing. Dear Sir Madam,
Having read the Francis Bacon article I wanted to correct British description my comments are below -which you deleted from the talk page , I thought I would have an orderly discussion and not an outright deletion -there is nothing in what I have written that is not true. Please see Pablo Picasso's page he was born in Spain and lived the great majority of his life in France he has never been described as French, similar to Bacon- I think wikipedia should reflect facts and not opinion.
On the issue of the description of Bacon as "Irish born, British figurative painter" this has been a subject of
dispute among a number of user/editors of Wikipedia, clearly the talk page requests users to be objective and
report Facts supported by evidence in adhering to this principle the description "Irish born" is entirely
appropriate back up by historical evidence of the Irish National census of 1911 (please see link http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/nai002575018/)
.There is clearly a bias against describing Bacon as Irish as his nationality and forcefully purporting him to be a
"British painter" due to his parents nationality they are described as "English" yes his mother was born in England
but his father was born in Australia -as can be seen again the census 1911 enumerators abstract. In reporting these
facts I would request the Lede be changed to reflect facts "Francis Bacon was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1909" etc,

Possibility of Future RfA
Hi there, I noticed at WP:RRN that you are prepared to consider nominating users for adminship. While I am not yet considering this, it would be something I would look at in the not to distant future (perhaps in the new year) and I was wondering, if you have the time, if you could give me some feedback regarding how close to this I am. Also, I recieved a block on my first day for edit warring - mainly due to a lack of understanding of policy. I have since learned from this and haven't been blocked since but I was wondering if you think this would effect my chances of becoming an admin, even if I openly declared it on my RfA when the time comes.

Closure of Category:Chefs by location
Hi Katie, I noticed that you closed Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2013_July_27#Category:Chefs_by_location as "delete" rather than "delete all". This left the sub-cats orphaned.
I started to write you a long note, then I started making a fresh CfD nomination to upmerge the sub-cats to the national categories of chefs, but then decided simply to implement the latter, and to add this action to the closure as a second line under my own name.
This is a non-standard approach, being a bit bold under WP:IAR, and I hope you will not be offended.
If you are content with my action, it would be neat if you wanted to incorporate it into your own closure under your own name. Kind regards – Fayenatic London 18:13, 28 October 2013 (UTC)
- This deletion and recategorization broke some already shaky category hierarchies that will probably take some work to fix. See what happened here[1] and in similar places. The fact that this particular individual is a well known local personality and businessperson from San Francisco, California earlier got down-categorized by one helpful editor into the subcategory Chefs from San Francisco, California, and then upcategorized not there but American Chefs, where it became a duplicate. He's not really an American Chef, he's a French Chef (by origin and cuisine; in similar cases but not this one by nationality too). In fact, in a spot check almost all of these articles were already categorized by the nationality of the chef so the recategorization usually created a duplicate, and then eliminated regional information. Anyway, I went ahead and fixed this by hand with respect to SF chefs. Wikipedia has a category mess created by the overlapping questions of locale, cuisine, and nationality of chefs — 3 different issues, and upcategorizing them in one way that doesn't recognize the other two can confuse things further. - Oh, good grief, guys - I'm sorry. Yes, I meant 'delete all', and yes, I agree the chef cats are a mess. I hadn't closed a CFD in ages, and the process had changed, and I guess I was more focused on the closing process with the bots, doing that correctly, than I was closing the discussion itself and formatting that correctly. Ugh.
- Faye, I will go amend it in my own name, eventually, though I doubt anybody cares. (Excellent mind-reading, BTW. We should have a mind-reading barnstar. If we did, I'd give it to you.)
- Wikidemon, I have a feeling that the foodies among us will fix the categories for the chefs by themselves. I knew the mess was coming because of the content of the discussion, but as we agree, it's an unholy mess anyway. I hate to shrug my shoulders like this, but I'm not one of the foodies among us and I have no clue if a chef who cooks in Atlanta is from Georgia or Georgia (or somewhere else entirely). I'll take the heat for it from any irate celebrity chef fans. Thanks for letting me know and I shall enlist the help of one or both of you before flexing my CFD muscles again. Disambiguation link fixing one-day contest
I have decided to put on a mini-contest within the November 2013 monthly disambiguation contest, on Saturday, November 23 (UTC). I will personally give a $20 Amazon.com gift card to the disambiguator who fixes the most links on that server-day (see the project page for details on scoring points). Since we are not geared up to do an automated count for that day, at 00:00, 23 November 2013 (UTC) (which is 7:00 PM on November 22, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the project page leaderboard. I will presume that anyone who is not already listed on the leaderboard has precisely nine edits. At 01:00, 24 November 2013 (UTC) (8:00 PM on November 23, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the leaderboard at that time (the extra hour is to give the board time to update), and I will determine from that who our winner is. I will credit links fixed by turning a WP:DABCONCEPT page into an article, but you'll have to let me know me that you did so. Here's to a fun contest. Note that according to the Daily Disambig, we currently have under 256,000 disambiguation links to be fixed. Hi...right after I requested the page protection on the Franklin child abuse allegations, the IP that has been violating BLP added back the BLP violations without concensus [2]...can we get that reverted?--MONGO 22:13, 24 November 2013 (UTC)
I support Mongo's request. This edit[3] has blp problems because it suggests named individuals lied under oath. The reference provided might be adequete under other circumstances, but given the nature of the accusations and the element of innuendo about yet another person, it's not enough here.
