DeSha Metschke photos[edit]

Hello, you have uploaded a number of images taken from the "DeSha Metschke" website, implying that you are yourself the owner of that site and its copyrights. If that's the case, we thank you very much for your generous contributions. Just to be on the safe side, copyright-wise, could you please send a confirmation e-mail, from your Metschke e-mail account, to our confidential e-mail ticketing system at "permissions-en (at) wikimedia.org", so we know it's really you? Thank you very much, --Fut.Perf. 14:25, 19 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It is really me. Thank You (I also sent an email)

Email received - logged as ticket #2008090210020112 in the OTRS system should this need to be referred to in future. Thank you, WJBscribe (talk) 20:23, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

--- I really can't understand what the issue is? I try to contribute on here by giving nice clear high quality images and I fill out everything to the best of my ability and deal with the same crap over and over. its really annoying.

Well, all this "paranoia" is going on to protect your work from any actual infringements. Uploads of other's work with incorrect claims of authorship are not too uncommon on Wikipedia. All this hassle, can be prevented, though. All you need to do is add the license you are willing to release the image under (for example CC-BY-SA) along with the image(s) on your personal website in a visible location. Then just add a link to the image (with the license visible) to the file description page on the wiki. This should eliminate any doubts and suspicions from other editors. Hope this helps. I wouldn't like to see an excellent contributor like you leave just because of the occasional bureaucracy.
A quick note on another topic – I recommend that you upload any new images to Wikimedia Commons, the dedicated free image repository. This makes your work directly available not only on the English Wikipedia, but also all other projects, i.e. the other language wikis. For more information take a look at Wikipedia:Wikimedia Commons.
Also, I'd be grateful if you did not embed watermarks in the images you contribute to the project. This is generally frowned upon on Wikipedia (see Wikipedia:WATERMARK). All the attribution information should be placed on the image description page. Any watermarks will be removed eventually anyway and this only adds extra burden on other editors and degrades the image quality. So, please, don't use watermarks, if possible. In fact, it would be greatly appreciated if you agreed to replace any watermarked uploads so far with a clean version. Best wishes! Quibik (talk) 19:53, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as File:Live Manson 09.jpg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, this is in fact not the case[1][2]. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because images on Wikipedia need to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License or another free license, which allow anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial. See our non-free content guidelines for more more information.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-3.0}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file, please understand that the vast majority of images found on the internet are not appropriate for Wikipedia. Most content on the internet is copyrighted and the creator of the image has exclusive rights to use it. Wikipedia respects the copyrights of others - do not upload images that violate others' copyrights. In certain limited cases, we may be able to use an image under a claim of fair use - if you are certain that fair use would apply here, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list. If no fair use rationale applies, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. feydey (talk) 06:48, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
