Sign your posts[edit]

Hi, there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! Katr67 14:33, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Gateway Village of Novi, by Seattlenow (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Gateway Village of Novi is blatant advertising for a company, product, group, service or person that would require a substantial rewrite in order to become an encyclopedia article.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Gateway Village of Novi, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 04:56, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Prison Mike[edit]

I fear the beginnings of a bloody revert war if this just keeps happening. I suggest we all agree to sit down at Talk:The Convict until we can all come to a conclusion that we all can at least live with (even if it's not what you wanted)Eatcacti 03:43, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Apology[edit]

I've apologised on the AfD for the false things I said about the quality of your writing, but I don't think that was enough really. I was wrong, if there was a problem it wasn't your writing skills, which are at least as good as mine. With a bit more thought I would have realised this and avoided saying something as nasty and harmful. You have shown grace in adversity, and I admire you all the more for that. --Tony Sidaway 01:45, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Junkies Edits[edit]

Nice work. I changed one word, to make it more formal. But I don't feel very strongly about it. If you think kids is preferable to children, go ahead and change it back. I won't be offended.

The new sentence in the opening is spot-on, for my money. Like I said, nice work. David in DC 02:51, 25 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the thanks. I'm going to move your comment from my user page to my discussion page. Generally, only the user edits his/her own user page. David in DC 03:07, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

January 2009[edit]

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did to Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Ward3001 (talk) 02:59, 2 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, Ward. You obviously have not heard the 2007 into 08 broadcast on the Dick Clark Rockin Eve. You can youtube it though and educate yourself. Otherwise, keep up the good work. You've a VERY important person and don't let anyone tell you you're not doing an awesome job! (p.s., thanks for the sandbox comment; touche!)--Lindsay (talk) 04:12, 2 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your comment, but there's a problem with that for four reasons. First, your interpreting something from YouTube is considered original research, which is not allowed on Wikipedia. Secondly, your intepretation is open to dispute because two editors have reverted it. Thirdly, YouTube is not considered a reliable source on Wikipedia. And fourthly, you have no idea what I have heard or not heard. Have a good day. Ward3001 (talk) 04:23, 2 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ward, I was trying to give you an opportunity to hear Clark's broadcast, presumably for the first time. As for YouTube as improper citation in that context for something Clark said on a broadcast, what do you propose? The reality is that someone attributed a quote to Clark on that night and provided no citation at all. I guess the best thing to do is to take out the quote altogether, because it's unsourced. Keep up the impartial, stellar work, Ward!--Lindsay (talk) 06:27, 2 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No, if you want to change the article in the midst of dispute, the best thing to do would be to raise the issue on Talk:Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve and wait for a consensus to do so, if one emerges. As it is now, there is no consensus to make the change. (And I did hear Clark's broadcast in the original airing, which is the proper source, not YouTube). Ward3001 (talk) 15:58, 2 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, so you're the proper source. Not listening to it again on video. Your alleged memory from a year ago is the source; now I've got it. Then instead of listening to any number of youtube vids, which directly contradict "Ward's memory," I should instead footnote you, "See Ward 3001's noodle." I'm not sure that's so credible.--Lindsay (talk) 00:43, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

With respect, don't put words in my mouth. I said the original airing (and for that matter, a re-airing or clip by a reliable source -- not YouTube) is an acceptable source. Let me also ask you to watch your tone, whether on my talk page or elsewhere on Wikipedia. We are having a typical discussion about Wikipedia policies and procedures. I have not misprepresented Wikipedia policies, and if you have a problem with the policies, take it up on the talk page for the policy, not my talk page. But even if I made a good faith misunderstanding of policy, that is not a reason for you to insinuate something about my motives. Please focus on the contributions, not the contributor. You might also want to review WP:AGF and WP:NPA. Thank you. Ward3001 (talk) 00:49, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I guess I misunderstood your obvious "good faith" by telling me (someone with hundreds of good Wikipedia edits) to practice in the sandbox. My mistake. Anyway, time to move on!--Lindsay (talk) 04:01, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article Crane kick has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails Wikipedia's notability guidelines for elements of fiction.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Neelix (talk) 17:13, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
