A tag has been placed on Gob Squad requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Anowlin (talk) 14:10, 21 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Gob Squad, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be unambiguous advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of Gob Squad and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from independent reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Anowlin (talk) 14:10, 21 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Lone Twin, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Lone Twin. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Welcome to Wikipedia. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

A tag has been placed on The Live Art Development Agency requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for organizations and companies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Warning[edit]

This is your final warning. If you continue to vandalise pages on Wikipedia, make inappropriate edits or personal attacks, including inappropriate or offensive edit summaries, or continue to cause problems in other ways, you will be blocked from editing indefinitely. Request reason:

Can you please unblock my account asap! - We are doing a project at ICA in London http://www.ica.org.uk/24606/Talks/Live-Weekends-Futures-and-Pasts.html and it is very important that we can access wikipedia. I have had several articles deleted, all of which are extremely influential/well studied arts collectives or organisations and are listed on the British Council website and in several other wikipedia articles. The articles I added had been saved as stubs, so that the collaborative process of wikipedia could be explored over this weekend. The project we are doing is called performing wikipedia and all participants are now locked out of the project. It is essential that this ip address is unblocked as soon as possible. Please also see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Don't_demolish_the_house_while_it's_still_being_built

Decline reason:

your project involves the use of wikipedia as a de facto group and/or role account; this is not allowed. --Anthony.bradbury"talk" 18:21, 22 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

My account is not shared. We are at the ICA in London all using the same IP address! - please can you unblock my account and the ip address so we can get on with the project?

Decline reason:

The project which you intend to run involves, as I understand it from your website, multiple editors working through a single account. This is a role account and is not allowed. --Anthony.bradbury"talk" 18:19, 22 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please note that Gob Squad is not currently a candidate for deletion, and that any confusion over the project is currently being discussed over at WP:AN/I. We're all volunteers here, and you caught the weekend crew I'm afraid. Sorry if there was any misunderstanding, and I'll see if I can have you unblocked and any roadblocks removed. That may require an assurance from you or someone that everyone has their own account (shared and "role" accounts are forbidden), and that they'll try to follow Wikipedia policies regarding reliable sources to verify material and to establish (and state, to avoid deletion) why any particular new article meets the notability criteria, either in a general sense or with respect to the notability of artists in particular. It may help if someone with experience on Wikipedia can be on hand to counsel (but not edit on behalf of) the newbies and distribute the "welcome" materials for before people get started. Also, the {{Inuse}} and {{Increation}} templates may be used to signal to people that an article is in process and shouldn't be deleted on sight - but use those responsibly and sparingly, only while something is undergoing active editing - don't leave those on incomplete articles for the duration of the weekend in hopes that someone else will come to the rescue. It might also help if someone is available for a phone or email chat with one of the site administrators, if one is available. I'm not an administrator so I don't have the power to do anything, just to make suggestions. Meanwhile, I hope you and crew are enjoying your time at the bar. Best, - Wikidemon (talk) 18:51, 22 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If the project is to continue, consider working with drafts, instead of live articles. Once you are done, request that an administrator review them, to see if they qualify. That will prevent the speedy deletion, and all this mess. --ANowlin: talk 18:54, 22 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I wonder if this event – http://uk.wikimedia.org/wiki/Backstage_Pass – will be subject to the same zealous article deletion and user blocking?Alchemagenta (talk) 19:21, 22 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As it is sponsored by Wikimedia it seems fairly unlikely. And your point is?--Anthony.bradbury"talk" 22:14, 22 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
My point (admittedly a bit flippant and rhetorical) was that if a bunch of people organise themselves to get together with good faith intentions of contributing to Wikipedia, are they in danger of experiencing something like what has happened here? Alchemagenta (talk) 22:50, 22 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If they inadvertently fall foul of the arcanities of wikipedia, yes. Write an essay about how to set up such a project and guidance for editors/admins as to how to deal with it, when it occurs. Ty 00:04, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You have been unblocked[edit]

Hi Lisa, I'm glad to say that you have now been unblocked. Usually the admin who unblocks would leave a message saying so, but he seems to have forgotten. Sorry your introduction to Wikipedia was so difficult. DuncanHill (talk) 22:28, 22 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I was about to unblock you myself, but it looks like Tyrenius beat me to it. Sorry if there was any misunderstanding. Blueboy96 22:57, 22 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

For Sunday[edit]

Hi Lisa, I'm very sorry about the trouble you had today. To avoid further problems tomorrow, I would suggest that you link from your user page to any articles encountering issues, & especially add your new articles. Is the ICA ISP still blocked? What is it? Then watchers will be aware of problems.

To avoid speedy deletions, articles should have - at the start is best - an "assertion of notability", referenced to an independent source - books are better than press, but that will do. Notability is governed here by WP:ARTIST, which would apply to groups here too - "a significant or well-known work, or collective body of work, that has been the subject of an independent book or feature-length film, or of multiple independent periodical articles or reviews" and "has won significant critical attention" are the ones to concentrate on. I have good experience of the normal, much more measured, deletion process, and am confident that Gob Squad, Lone Twin and Live Art Development Agency (skip the "The") are all capable of passing it.

I hope tomorrow goes better. Let me know if you have other questions. Johnbod (talk) 23:12, 22 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Project[edit]

The safe way to do it is now at Wikipedia:WikiProject Visual arts/Performing Wikipedia. I have added your name, but feel free to remove it, if you wish. A shortcut is WP:WPPW (Wikipedia: WikiProject Performing Wikipedia). Ty 00:13, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, that's better. Thanks, Ty! Johnbod (talk) 01:19, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

User box[edit]

I have put the user box {{User Performing Wikipedia}} on your user page. If you don't want it, just remove it. Ty 06:12, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Continuation of Performing Wikipedia[edit]

Now the project is set up and the hiccups sorted out (I trust), it would be very easy to continue your initiative. Maybe you could start a regular session at the ICA - first Monday or Thursday or whatever each month. If it was posted on the project page, then other editors could be at hand to help out.
