Orphaned fair use image (Image:Nzv8.gif)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Nzv8.gif. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. MECUtalk 01:39, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Captiva Maxx.jpg, by OSX (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Captiva Maxx.jpg fits the criteria for speedy deletion for the following reason:

free alternative available here: Image:2007 Holden CG Captiva MaXX 01.jpg

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Image:Captiva Maxx.jpg, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 09:27, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RE:1XS[edit]

Hi, there! In order for an article to exist in the WP it must have a few things:

  1. Verifiable references (not MySpace, YouTube, press releases, etc)
  2. Third-party citations (such as national/local media coverage and the like)
  3. Concise, well-written content

Of course there are exceptions to every rule. For example, some government agencies are notable without the third-party cites because they are "generally accepted" as notable (for example law enforcement agencies). However, even some are so small and insignificnt that they are notable, just not on their own (they become redirected and merged into another article). The article 1XS may be notable, just not on its own. For example, if there is an article about all student-sponsored radio staions in New Zealand, it may then be redirected and merged into this "parent" article.

For your article, 1XS, to stand on its own, it will need something more than just self-promo sites (e.g., awards that the station has won, records it may have broken, notable endorsements... something) I hope this clears it up a little. If you need help with anything please feel free to contact me on my talk page located here! Cheers!--Sallicio 02:43, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:1XS-logo.png)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:1XS-logo.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:35, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Briscoes.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Briscoes.png. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 15:51, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem[edit]

Thanks for your uploads. You've indicated that the following images are being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why they meet Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page an image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.
