re: mentoring[edit]

Hello - thanks for the message. I'm not mentoring actively this semester because I'm recovering from serious illness, but I'll be happy to make a couple of suggestions.

I wasn't really sure what kind of help you needed, but I think you're asking how to remove the {{orphan}} and {{deadend}} tags from the top of the pages. In a sec, I'm going to tell you how to 'un-orphan' the articles and remove the tags, but for now, at least leave the {{orphan}} one alone because there really aren't any links to your pages from other Wikipedia articles on similar or related subjects. (I checked. They're orphans. The notices are necessary for now.)

introducing links[edit]

In the notice, you'll see that 'related articles' is a URL. Click it. A new browser window (or tab) will open with a list of articles into which you can wikilink your article. For example, take Surface and Air Transportation Programs Extension Act of 2011. If you click on 'related articles' there, the fourth article down is Acts of the 112th United States Congress. The Act is already listed; just edit it and put brackets around the text. Save, and presto! A wikilink! Next, look through the rest of the list (I think there are 172) and see if you can find a place, even under an **existing** 'Related articles' heading, to put a wikilink to the article.

Income Based Repayment has even more potential, something like 472 possible articles to which it can wikilink. This is the whole purpose and point of Wikipedia - to keep you clicking and clicking until you've got 18 browser tabs open and you're reading Chinese laundry five hours after you started with Eleanor of Aquitaine. ;-) Those endless hours of wasted time can't happen unless editors like you and I insert links to articles into other articles.

removing notices[edit]

This is so easy you'll wonder why you didn't figure it out sooner. When you've fixed the issue by linking to other articles - ***and not before*** - come back to the article you created and click 'edit'. At the very top, you'll see:

{{orphan|date=whateverdateitis}}

Remove it. Give an appropriate edit summary, and save. That's all there is to it. Those notices are always at the very top of the wikitext, so they'll be seen at the top of the article.
