Wind It Up Single Cover

Question

Hey, how did you get that "Die Hard Britney Spears" fan box in your profile, I would like to add it to mine too :)

Amazon

Please do not add links to articles such as ...Baby One More Time which link to Amazon, allowing customers to buy the album. This is generally considered spam and is inappropriate for an encyclopedia. Thanks. --Yamla 14:09, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

Pieces of a Dream

I only reverted it once. Please include comments when making a deletion like that. Thanks. Zsinj 02:09, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

Please do not undo other people's edits without discussing them first or explaining. This is considered impolite and unproductive. Extraordinary Machine 02:02, 12 February 2006 (UTC)

Request for edit summary

Hi. I am a bot, and I am writing to you with a request. I would like to ask you, if possible, to use edit summaries a bit more often when you contribute. The reason an edit summary is important is because it allows your fellow contributors to understand what you changed; you can think of it as the "Subject:" line in an email. For your information, your current edit summary usage is 11% for major edits and 15% for minor edits. (Based on the last 150 major and 150 minor edits in the article namespace.)

This is just a suggestion, and I hope that I did not appear impolite. You do not need to reply to this message, but if you would like to give me feedback, you can do so at the feedback page. Thank you, and happy edits, Mathbot 23:01, 26 February 2006 (UTC)

Fair use on user pages

Hi Luigi, I just wanted to let you know that the use of fair use images on user pages is prohibited by Wikipedia policy. It would be great if you could remove all such images from your page, i.e. the album covers and tv show logos. Christopher Parham (talk) 07:35, 11 March 2006 (UTC)

Anastacia edits

If you saw the back covers of her albums, you'd see that the titles of all the songs have capital letters as first letter, but it's OK, I'll stop.

Image Tagging Image:Geiger.jpg

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Geiger.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Nivus(talk) 10:58, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

The picture is copyrighted so if you can manage to get permission to use it as a promotional image then it will be allowed with the promotional tag or a tag appropriate to the permission you acquire. As you can see the content and images of the image's source are copyrighted. Thanks!!--Nivus(talk) 12:41, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
No you cannot. Do you have express permission to use the image? If you do then post it in the image's talk page and change it to an appropriate tag, until then the "no source/no copyright tag" will stay Thanks!!--Nivus(talk) 08:18, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Geiger.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Geiger.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Nivus(talk) 09:28, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

Please do not try to remove or change the tag until you get the permission to use this image as promotional because the image source has the following "© 2006 All Media Guide, LLC. All Rights Reserved." --Nivus(talk) 09:38, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

Note

Hey I have some tips for you on editing

  1. Don't put italics on songs or singles put a bracket like this= "Get the Party Started"
  2. Italics are for the albums
  3. You don't need put italics on the chart names like Billboard Top 100, UK singles chart, etc.
  4. No bolding number-ones or any numbers in chart positions ok

Thanks--2hot4u2handle 21:24, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

Hips Don't Lie

Do you know how many weeks Hips Don't Lie spent at the top of the Dutch Top 40? —Eternal Equinox | talk 23:53, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

You're making stylistic changes to singles chronologies that do not comply with the guidelines set out at WikiProject Songs. Also, "piped links" to "years in music" articles (e.g. [[2004 in music|2004]]) should be avoided. Thanks. Extraordinary Machine 18:30, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

Your English is fine. I think that the years of the preceding and following singles aren't really as important as the titles of those singles. Also, these guidelines are part of the WikiProject, so it's best not to start editing articles away from them until you get consensus first. Please start a discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Songs before reformatting any other articles in the same way. Oh and another thing: solitary year wikilinks should not be inserted in most cases; see WP:DATE. Thanks. Extraordinary Machine 23:28, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
Also, make sure to enclose album titles in italics and song titles in double quotation marks. Thanks. Extraordinary Machine 17:37, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

Image Tagging for Image:Tangosingle.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Tangosingle.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

moving pages

When you move pages, please check for any double redirects. When you moved Titanic to Titanic (disambiguation), you left double redirects at Titanic (movie) and Titanic (film). An incorrect disambiguation link was left at the top of the article RMS Titanic. In the future, please be more careful. Do not move pages unless you are prepared to finish the job. -lethe talk + 06:47, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

Reply on help

sure, I'll do minor changes on that article--hottie 13:58, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

Do you have a link/source for that being PCD's next single? BTW, you should have gave it it's own article instead of moving it from another ("Wait a Minute"). I'm going to revert those changes, and we can give it its own article if it really is a single. Also, you should explain your edits in the edit summary box so that other editors aren't confused by your edits. Thank you. Crumbsucker 08:47, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

License tagging for Image:Anastacia-cowboys & kisses.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Anastacia-cowboys & kisses.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Thanks for uploading Image:Anastacia-cowboys & kisses.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. Moving song and album articles

I don't understand why you recently moved several Juanes articles and de-capitalized the names of the albums or songs. Is this some wikistandard that I've not come across? By the way, Juanes' official website has the titles "Un Día Normal", "La Camisa Negra", etc. --Fisherjs 13:47, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

Some languages have different rules about capitalization, not only in normal usage, but for things like titles, too. I don't really know how this would apply to things in Spanish, but for French, I'm pretty sure words in titles, after the first, tend toward being lower case.  — AnnaKucsma   (Talk to me!) 20:28, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
Like AnnaKucsma already said, some languages have different rules about capitalization. Spanish and French both use the rule that the first letter of the title should be capitalized, but for every following word, it should be in lower case. For the other languages, I guess it all should be capitalized, but for those two, I am sure.

Sorry, didn't read the message above ur talk discussion page. -- Luigi-ish 20:05, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

No.1 Singles of Britney Spears

I think it's no need to show #1 singles of Britney Spears in every country. If you add #1 in NL, the following question is why don't you add #1 singles in other country. The reason that we create this title is to show position of them in main charts of the world; US, UK. CA & AU is acceptable to represent the worldwide hit of the single.

Chart tables should include the subst {{prettytable}}, not {{tablabonita}}. Also, they should not have a coloured background, and the number of weeks shouldn't be included. Please see Wikipedia:WikiProject Music/Tables for charts and the associated talk page. Thanks. Extraordinary Machine 18:08, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

4Ever (album)

Thank you for your contributions to 4Ever (album). Some edits have been made to the article in order to bring it into harmony with Wikipedia's Manual of Style. Please familiarize yourself with the guidelines shown there. All edits that do not follow these guidelines have been changed to match what our MoS recommends. Wikipedia does not require writers to follow all or any of these rules, but their efforts will be more appreciated when they do so. Extraordinary Machine 16:06, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

  • OK. Thanks. I'll take a watch. -- Luigi-ish 16:16, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

re:Anastacia

Hi Luigi-ish, I was going to give you the link for the guideline, but basically I am going to echo what Extraordinary Machine posted right above. I've gone thru and attempted to bring the Beyonce table up to template standards and left a note on its Talk Page. As far as Hilary Duff is concerned, that table is technically incorrect as well and should be changed. -- eo 17:06, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

Call Me When You're Sober Cover

Why do you keep reverting the Call Me When Your Sober CD art? The version you replace it with is a scan from a promotional copy, and is not as high quality as the actual single cover scan and the colours are not as bright as they are on an official copy. --Mahogany h00r 02:49, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

That other cover has this border round it. Except for that, the cover I have uploaded is basically the same. Covers shouldn't have borders round them. Higher quality than 600×600 is not necessary. -- Luigi-ish 12:31, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
My Immortal has one. It's not just some border I created with Photoshop, its on the actual cover (as you can see on the other photo I took of it) --Mahogany h00r 13:58, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
Oh, I'm sorry then. I thought it was a border someone added to the photo. OK, I'll revert it again then. -- Luigi-ish 15:05, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
Great, thanks! --Mahogany h00r 07:32, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

Lithium

Since you've been editing music-related articles for a while I'm sure you are aware that there are established criteria set forth here for the inclusion of bands, albums, and songs. Lithium by Evanescence has not been released yet; it remains to be seen whether it will become notable under the guidelines. As such, and because Wikipedia is not a crystal ball, the page should remain a redirect to the parent album. This was previously discussed on the talk page. Furthermore, the redirect at Lithium (song) should not point to Lithium (disambiguation); that breaks links in many articles that currently link to the Nirvana song. Articles should never link to disambiguation pages. If and when the Evanescence song eventually becomes notable enough to support its own article, "Lithium (song)" can be changed into its own disambiguation page but the links in the articles will need to be fixed as well. Hope that clears things up. Kafziel Talk 18:59, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

First of all, I did not remove the link to the parent album, just to clear things up. Second of all, I noticed a link that HMV confirmed that the song will be released as a future single on November 27. So by redirecting the single to the parent album just because wikipedia is not sure it will be released, while it has been confirmed by a rather trustworthy website, is not right either now is it? -- Luigi-ish 19:09, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
The fact that it will eventually be released isn't really relevant; a song is not automatically notable just because it was (or will be) released as a single. We don't have an article on every song ever made, and consensus has generally held that we shouldn't. That link was pretty much just spam for a presale.
I'm not sure what you mean about clearing things up; the link to the album is what should be on the disambiguation page, since the link to the song is just a redirect. More than 100 Nirvana articles link to Lithium (song); those links will all need to be fixed before Lithium (song) can be made into a disambiguation page. And that will need to wait until we know if the Evanescence song achieves notoriety. Kafziel Talk 19:18, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
Sorry, I get your point. Before, I meant that I did not remove the link to the parent album but I fixed that. I'd suggest you put a message in <!-- message --> (dunno the name for the action) in the article for Lithium, stating they should not remove the link to the parent album - until the single is released? -. --Luigi-ish 19:24, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
