Being not muslim myself I cannot know how important that person is for the Arab culture and for muslims in general. Translation request

Hello, I saw that you can translate from Arabic, so I would like to ask you if you could take a look at 2003 invasion of Iraq and Iraq War. There is a featured article in Arabic which we would like to know how it could be used the English one which is of course dominated by people who have either been there as soldiers or have their knowledge from western media. Someone also asked if the section about "related propaganda and phrases" could be amplified with information about the Iraqi side. Alright, this time its a small one. Could you please look up the article Cuisine of Kerala. One of the breads mentioned (pathiri) is said to have been originated from the Arabic word fatheera. Can you please (1) cross-check the word, (2) add Arabic text, transliteration and meaning ?

Culture of Bahrain

Hi, I'm working on this new article Culture of Bahrain. This article is referenced in the template found on pages like these . so the user gets a link whenever he/she reads an article about any asian culture.

We need to include info and pics about the traditional clothes, dress, food, customs, festivals, pearl diving, sheesha ... you name it!

Nizwa

Hey Mohammed Khalil,

Can you help me with a question about the article on Nizwa? Check out this link نزوى and then compare with this from the Nizwa article "Nizwa is a city in Oman and was the capital of Oman proper. Its Old Central Mosque was formerly a center for Islamic learning and it is still known by many older natives the Jama'a." Is "Jama'a" the name of the mosque or another name for the city of Nizwa? I saw your comments at Talk:Al-Hasa and was still wondering where you would place the information on the region in these sources here, here, here, here, and here (see 1913)). The area in these maps is different from the area of the Saudi municipality of Al-Ahsa and it is not called Al-Bahrayn in English. (The Ottoman province was also Al-Hasa). —  AjaxSmack  01:05, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

That was my point. Al-Bahrayn refers to the area pre-1500s and Al-Hasa refers to a similar area 1500s-1913 as it is called in the map you mentioned [3]. Just as Gaul and France have separate articles, here we should have something like Bahrain (historical region) for pre-1500s Iqlim Al-Bahrayn, Al-Hasa for 1500s-1913 Emirate/Sheikhdom of Al-Hasa, and Al-Ahsa for the current Saudi municipality. My problem is with mixing up all the content from the three when they covered vastly different areas. And using two spellings for different historical periods is normal. See Lotharingia vs. Lorraine or Langobardia vs. Lombardy. —  AjaxSmack  22:31, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

No I didn't mean they were entirely different regions. I just meant they are used in different contexts. In English, the al-Hasa spelling is usually used for the pre-Saudi region (brown on the map below) while the al-Ahsa spelling is used for the current municipality (green on the map).

hoping you could help in a minor language issue

Hi there! We are finishing up our study on vandalism over at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Vandalism_studies/Study1 and we ran into this edit at Data Point 68. No one at the project is a native speaker of Arabic, and so we can't tell if it is or isn't vandalism (although it WAS reverted soon after a previous vandalism 2 days before). So I thought I'd look for a native babel userbox for Arabic, and thats how I found your talk page. If it isn't too much trouble, would you mind confirming for us if this is in fact vandalism, and if so what it is? Much appreciated! :-) JoeSmack ^Talk 23:42, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

The rule of thumb is that only an edit that consists solely of spelling corrections, formatting and minor rearranging of text should be flagged as a 'minor edit'.
