ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:27, 28 November 2023 (UTC)

@GiantSnowman. Noted, it’s a single IP in an /16 so not much we can do here other than block it which you’ve done. I’ve moved the range calculator to my sandbox for future reference. Malcolmxl5 (talk) 20:18, 12 November 2023 (UTC)
Now at 41.233.129.210 (talk · contribs · WHOIS). GiantSnowman 16:59, 17 November 2023 (UTC)

Your "range calculator" needs updating with the inclusion of 154.180.46.36 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) who has been editing. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 19:11, 19 November 2023 (UTC)
@Iggy the Swan. Blocked for another two weeks. Malcolmxl5 (talk) 19:19, 19 November 2023 (UTC)
154.180.24.74 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) seems like an obvious  Looks like a duck to me as well so the range calculator shall be updated accordingly. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 09:21, 7 December 2023 (UTC)
@Iggy the Swan. I’ve blocked the range until the New Year. Malcolmxl5 (talk) 09:44, 7 December 2023 (UTC)

New message from Red-tailed hawk

Hello, Malcolmxl5. You have new messages at Amirul Azimin's talk page.
Message added 02:48, 18 January 2024 (UTC). You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

This regards a block you made back in 2017; I'd like your feedback before hitting any buttons. — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 02:48, 18 January 2024 (UTC)

Replied at Amirul Azimin's talk page. Malcolmxl5 (talk) 09:29, 18 January 2024 (UTC)

Can you restore this to my user space for retooling/updating? I have plenty of sources which will demonstrate notability, but did not see the original AFD when it rolled around. See rec.arts.sf.tv.babylon5.moderated, as an example. Thanks, Jclemens (talk) 05:25, 24 January 2024 (UTC)

@Jclemens. No problem, you can find it at User:Jclemens/List of starships in Babylon 5. Malcolmxl5 (talk) 15:57, 24 January 2024 (UTC)

Semi-protection for Ryan Kavanaugh

Hello, I see that you semi-protected Ryan Kavanaugh for a period of two days on January 26 upon my request at RPP. However, vandalism by unregistered users has resumed since then. If you take a look at the page logs, you'll see that the article had been protected for much longer periods in the past due to controversy surrounding the subject. Would you consider protecting again? Throast {{ping}} me! (talk | contribs) 19:55, 1 February 2024 (UTC)

Thanks, Throast, I have protected for six months. Malcolmxl5 (talk) 22:09, 1 February 2024 (UTC)

2a01:e34:ecac:93e0::/64

Hi Malcolmxl5. It might be worth considering a longer duration for the block on 2a01:e34:ecac:93e0::/64 (block range · block log (global) · WHOIS (partial)) given the block history and their persistence on articles like Louis d'Armagnac, Duke of Nemours and Juan de la Cerda y Silva, 4th Duke of Medinaceli. Regards. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 02:34, 6 March 2024 (UTC)

@Daniel Quinlan. Hi Daniel, yes, there’s a lot of disruption there and a lengthy block log (I see I blocked for two months a couple of years ago). I’ll up it to six months, it’s clearly a LTA. Malcolmxl5 (talk) 02:41, 6 March 2024 (UTC)
Thanks! Six months is exactly what I was thinking. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 02:44, 6 March 2024 (UTC)

154.180.137.31 I think is likely to be added to your own sandbox as I see suspicious and familiar edits. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 11:00, 3 March 2024 (UTC)

And 154.180.208.200. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 17:17, 3 March 2024 (UTC)
@Iggy the Swan. Both added to the range calculator. I’ve blocked the latest one but the network being what it is, he’ll pop up on another soon. Malcolmxl5 (talk) 17:28, 3 March 2024 (UTC)
That's very true - 154.180.50.34. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 18:08, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
@Iggy the Swan. Blocked! Malcolmxl5 (talk) 18:22, 5 March 2024 (UTC)
I think there is enough block evasion for a range block, now that 154.180.239.57 is at it again. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 16:29, 6 March 2024 (UTC)
@Iggy the Swan. Yes, he’s not got the message. /16 blocked for three months. Malcolmxl5 (talk) 16:46, 6 March 2024 (UTC)

Leeds Wikipedia meetup on Saturday 4th May

Hello there! Interested in having a chat with fellow Wikipedians? There's a meetup in Leeds on Saturday 4th May 2024, at the Tiled Hall Café at Leeds Central Library.

Full details here.

You're receiving this one-off message as you're either a member of WikiProject Yorkshire, you've expressed an interest in a previous Leeds meetup years ago, or (for about 4 of you), we've met :)

I plan to organise more in future, so if you'd like to be notified next time, please say so over on the meetup page.

Please also invite any Wikimedia people you know (or have had wiki dealings with) – spread the word! Hope to see you there.
