Stubs[edit]

You are creating stubs after stubs without expanding them, that is not good. The stubs you are introducing will remain in its present version forever. Please expand the articles you are creating bye adding more information. Thanks.Otolemur crassicaudatus (talk) 18:36, 28 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, Otolemur. I just don't know any more information. But by making these stubs, I invite others to expand these articles. Greets. Mango101 (talk) 22:09, 28 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I know it's much later, but I must agree with Mango here. To me it's much better to have at least some information on someone than not to have anything and leave someone searching for that person unhappy because he was unable to find anything. So, even if an article is never going to be expanded it's a good thing to create the stub. Iameddie (talk) 01:54, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cyclists[edit]

Hi, I just saw your message on my talk page and I would like to comment on you. The conversation of me and the other user has been continued at his talk page, so if you want to read that you can check it there. Your comment however was about unknown riders. At least one of the two you pointed out has won quite some races, so I don't really see why he should not be included? The other one, I can somehow understand as he did not win that much yet, but he still did win a professional race, which is making him notable enough to be in here, in my opinion. Iameddie (talk) 01:54, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, but in here we include all ProTour-riders and other notable riders (in PCT & CT Teams). If we are going to include all riders who have won at least 1 professional race, this encyclopaedia would contain millions of unknown cyclists and that's not the purpose of this site, I think. Mango101 (talk) 17:55, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Etienne De Wilde[edit]

I saw your recent addition to the Etienne De Wilde article. It's good you added the teams and some victories that were not in the list yet! But I have some serious doubts about the notability of some other entries. Is it really notable that De Wilde finished 10th place in the 1989 Milan-Sanremo? Or that he was 125th in the 1991 Tour de France? For cyclists with only a small list of victories, other rankings can be notable enough to include, but De Wilde has victories enough. The page as it is now is an unattractive list of top10 finishes, with a small lead. Do you agree that De Wilde was successful enough so that not all his top10-standings need to be included? If so, I will remove them. --EdgeNavidad (talk) 11:53, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, maybe you're right. De Wilde does have an impressive amount of victories! But I still think his palmares should include his 4th place on the World Championship-Points Race (1991) or his 2nd place in Gent-Wevelgem (1987). Top 5 in an important race should always be mentioned, except in the palmaresses of Merckx, Anquetil and other legends, of course ;-). But, you're right, I will remove the less important entries. Future Edits[edit]

Hello, Please can i ask that in the interest of courtesy and for ease of understanding when making edits like you have done to Fantasy Ride can you provide an WP:edit summary. this helps other editors identify what changes have been made to articles. I know myself that sometimes i forget to do so, but it does make things easier for other users if you can provide a brief summary of the additions/deletions or changes you have made to an article. Unreferenced BLPs[edit]

Hello Mango101! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 18 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 943 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Invitation to the African Destubathon[edit]

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:13, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 10:02, 6 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Olympic Sports Project[edit]

Hello Mango!

I have seen you do lots of edits about Olympic sports here on Wiki. I am searching for a couple of people who would like to contribute on an external international website about Olympic sports, posting results of Olympic Sports on a regular basis. You could choose the sport(s) you want to contribute in and take care of that section. The aim of the website is to become the best source for sports results and to do that we need some more contributers across all sports.

No money involved, so just for passion, and of course no time obligations needed, just in your free time. Are you in? :)

Thank you in advance! RoadToTokyo2020 (talk) 06:56, 13 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
