Tempsford[edit]

Hi Mark. I was at Tempsford on Saturday for the Summer Reunion. I've done a write-up on my blog. I've got a few more photos of Tempsford which I could send you if they're of any interest. Dahliarose 11:54, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for finding Sgt Shearer. I looked on the CWGC before but gave up when I saw how many Shearers there were. It's very odd that he was buried in Falmouth. I wonder if he died on a bombing aid when he was home on leave. I've now updated my page so you might want to print out the revised version instead. Has your father never wanted to go back to any of the Tempsford Reunions and take you along to show you where it all happened? Dahliarose 17:38, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've now been sent the details of Sgt Shearer's final op from the Bomber Command Losses book. I've updated the page for the third time today! Hope you don't run out of ink! I believe the new-format Tempsford Reunions started in about 2000. I'm sure you and/or your father would be welcome to come along if you were interested. You need to get in touch with Steve Harris, who runs the Tempsford Village website, or Bob Body, who has the website dedicated to the crew of his uncle's Hudson (both websites are linked on the Tempsford page). William Parker Sports College[edit]

Hi Mark,

Yes I was taught by both the Wrights (I was at HGS from 1955 to 1962) and I think I responded to User:Sandpiper via e-mail about this. Thanks for your commments on the trolleybuses. --rossb 23:02, 13 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Norwegian heavy water sabotage[edit]

Thanks Mark! I added the reference to the page. Thanks again --PatrickFlaherty (talk) 12:47, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Glasshouse[edit]

Hi. Regarding the use of the term 'Glasshouse' in relation to Colchester's Military prison you might want to have a quick read of this page of Aldershot Military Museum's website. The first paragraph illustrates why I removed the term from the Colchester article:

Despite its pleasant sounding name, 'The Glasshouse' was one of the most imposing buildings in mid 19th century Aldershot - the military prison. Built in 1870 to house soldiers sentenced for military offences, the building derived its name from its large, glass lantern roof. The term 'Glasshouse' has since become synonymous with all military prison establishments but it has its origins in Aldershot.

Hope that clears it up. Dancarney (talk) 09:51, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Do you support including RAF station articles in the main categoty as well as the county subcategory, as with RAF Tempsford ? If so comment at {http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Military_history] please Hugo999 (talk) 22:24, 5 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

SOE memorials[edit]

My apologies for reverting your good faith edits to SOE. My concern is that there are a number of memorials to SOE; at Valencay in France for example, or at Beaulieu Manor. Highlighting one recently unveiled in London in the article's lead is perhaps inappropriate. The various memorials to SOE probably deserve their own separate section in the article. I shall start researching. 09:50, 6 September 2013 (UTC)

Obituary for Deben Dave[edit]

Hi, Mark. I saw where you added to Deben Dave's user page that he passed away. I am very sorry for your loss. I know it's been a few years, but I wanted to suggest that you write an obituary for him at Wikipedia:Deceased Wikipedians. --CaptainBillyCatPants (talk) 22:21, 20 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
