Dennis Ferguson

Hi Mark. There used to be a Dennis Ferguson article. You moved it to 'Dennis Ferguson (Australian sex offender)', before someone else deleted it. Can I ask why you moved it? While not a savoury character, the Ferguson saga is clearly notable, and I think there should be another article created. Is there any reason why the article shouldn't be created at the location: 'Dennis Ferguson'? Thanks, Lester 21:25, 22 September 2009 (UTC)

I started a new article at Dennis Ferguson. Maybe it's better to wait until there comes another person by the same name who is notable enough to warrant an article, before moving it. Presently, there's noone else. Cheers, Lester 23:19, 22 September 2009 (UTC)

NowCommons: File:Punchsuffrage.png

File:Punchsuffrage.png is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:Women suffrage cartoon.png. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:Women suffrage cartoon.png]]. There are no plans to merge Stockman with an American article. The proposal is to move the article to a new page name, and move the disambiguation page to Stockman. Would you please help here?

There was a BLP violation discussion and it was "archived" because the administrator stated "He" or "she" did not see the relevance? This has happened three other times and I think this time it is a misuse of administrative tools. If you agree would you please take it out of archive or take whatever steps you think appropriate. MSU Interview

Dear MarkGallagher,

My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the communityHERE, where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.

So a few things about the interviews:

• Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
• Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
• All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
• All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
• The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.

Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. Dear Mark,

My name is Michael Walter Starkie and I am the grandson of Walter Starkie and, along with my brother Patrick, the recipient of royalties from the 1964 unabridged version of Don Quixote(first published on January 22, 1965 by New American Library). I have an autographed copy of the 1954 London abridged version (Hard cover) as well as the Mentor (American paperback edition) first printed in 1957 and the 1964 copyrighted unabridged version (Commissioned by Victor Weybright).

The abridged version, which my grandfather translated for Harold MacMillan was commissioned in 1937 as a buyout (No royalties). During his tenure working for the British Government in Madrid as founder of the British Institute he was not allowed to publish, hence the gap in his publishing history. This book came out in London in 1954 with a 116 page prelude (introduction) introducing readers to Cervantes. The American introduction was drastically shorter as most Americans don't have much of an attention span and Readers Digest Condensed Books was very popular in the 50's & 60's.

I am willing to send you xerox copies of the title pages if you could email me you address at michaelstarkie@yahoo.com . New American Library was taken over by Penguin and later became Penguin/Putnam, the second largest publisher in the world, so they are not exactly a brain pool over there in New York.
