No problem. I keep an eye on WP:AIV, so I saw the report, saw the history of vandalism, and realized the block was rather appropriate. —C.Fred (talk) 03:58, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback[edit]

Rollback granted[edit]

After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback can be used to revert vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback may be removed at any time.

If you no longer want rollback, then contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some information on how to use rollback, you can view this page. I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, just leave me a message if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Happy editing! Huggle mistake[edit]

Brazilian Army[edit]

History; Last paragraph - Since the History's books used in Brazil as well as quotes from new generation of army's officers in media refer to the events of 31 march of 1964 as a coup d'état and it's effects, I don't known were it could be a partiality in my edit, it seems the contrary... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.81.228.172 (talk) 00:05, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lots of rules...[edit]

Hi, saw your comment at editor assistance. Here's the short of it (from Policy trifecta):

  • Neutral point of view
  • Don't be a dick
  • Ignore all rules

Being that there are too many rules, #3 is of particular importance here: you don't need to memorize them, or even be afraid of making mistakes, as you'll be corrected over time. There's also simplified ruleset, which has the quick summaries of all the policies. and here's a nice essay! Anyway, feel free to message me if you have any questions :-) Xavexgoem (talk) 03:40, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Eric Violette[edit]

First I ask you how many other singing pirates in television commercials have had such a rush of people attempting to write about him? I say Eric Violette is on par with the likes of "The Burger King" in his notability within the television realm. Not only does "The Burger King" have an article, he's even getting a feature length movie of his own.

I have different arguments on behalf of Monseiur Violette but I shall present them one at a time. Homotlfqa83 (talk) 15:47, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Spelling correction mishap[edit]

Hi there. Thanks for stopping by Automotive lighting to fix such spelling errors as "whereever" and "alligning". Your edit also changed every instance of "signalling" to "signaling". Neither is incorrect, but the double-L variant is generally preferred in international English while the single-L is oftener found in American English; because this article is written in international English, not only does WP:ENGVAR prefer that we leave the double-L, but an important reference (Regulation 48; scroll down to find it so you needn't yank down the whole PDF) uses the double-L spelling. I've changed "signaling" back to "signalling", but I wanted to let you know I do appreciate your efforts to clean up the genuine errors in the article. —Scheinwerfermann (talk) 20:04, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for letting me know. The whereever" and "alligning were done by AWB and I manually fixed signalling with Microsoft Word so this will not happen again. Thanks. --mboverload@ 20:15, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

John Birch Society Page[edit]

Hey Mb--thanks for getting involved. Before I got into this mess I thought *I* was third party (you can see from my handle-less-ness that I'm generally a pretty casual wiki user). Anyway, I might have gotten carried away but I don't think I'm the problem. If you read the talk page over there it seems like that one guy is holding the page hostage to an intro that cites only the JBS website (which is obviously not good wiki policy). Not sure if this was done with some automated script, but a recent edit changed "revalued" to "reevalued" in the article Domitian. The word is most definitely "revalue" however. I see from the post you're a little bit famous!

The debate weighed overwhelmingly toward closing the organization, with many current and former members and leaders endorsing its end; however, much of the debate was about how the closure should take place. While some favored outright deletion of all Esperanza pages, others felt that simply marking the organization as inactive was enough. A compromise that gained steam was the "Messedrocker solution" (named after its creator, Messedrocker), to redirect the subpages to the main page, but keep the pages for their edit history. The discussion was closed on Monday, January 1, by Mailer Diablo. The decision was made to close the organization, and replace the organization's main page with an explanation of the organization's history and demise, while retaining most of its pages per the Messedrocker solution. In his closure,

Argentine/Argentinian/Argentinean[edit]

That's a great question that you asked about when to use which word. Basically, Argentine is the standard and most common demonym (also called denizen label) and adjective in the English language for someone/something from Argentina. Argentine is about 7 times more common than Argentinian and about 9 times more common than Argentinean. The grammar, usage, and style guide Garner's Modern American Usage (by Bryan A. Garner) gives Argentine as the standard and Argentinian as the variant, but it doesn't list Argentinean at all. This would indicate that it's deemed as the least desirable of the different forms.

Both the Random House and American Heritage dictionaries list Argentine as the main entry and Argentinean as the variant form but not Argentinian (Argentinian is also marked as an incorrect spelling on Microsoft Word). Basically, this means that it's safe to use Argentine in all instances: Argentine tango, Argentine American, Argentine Antarctica, Argentine people, etc. Using Argentinian or Argentinean isn't absolutely wrong because some people do use them not knowing what the standard is, but when I've had time, I've been trying to make it consistent throughout Wikpedia to use the standard and most common form. Hope that made sense.

On a side note, have you seen the movie Buenos Aires 100 Kilómetros‎ yet? I have a bunch of movies from Spain, but none from Argentina. Kman543210 (talk) 06:30, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there Flyguy! I have talked with the English experts on the #english IRC channel and they say this is wrong. They were quite fervent in their statements that "an historic" is never correct. A wiki page I made was unfairly deleted by you, sir[edit]

I made a page for "Stan Burdman," a famous radio dj, political commentator, comedian, and video game reviewer. It took me a while to research and remember all the stuff Stan Burdman did, make external links to Stan's work, and then the page got deleted the second it went up. Almost like automatically. I don't understand, Stan Burdman is a fairly famous public figure and I would appreciate the page be brought back from the dead please.Braddj1977 (talk) 08:26, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Copyedits to direct quotes[edit]

...should generally be avoided. Thanks for all the other copyedits, though. Happy editing, siℓℓy rabbit (talk) 12:58, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry to stalk you, but I noticed that you are self-reverting a bunch of changes. You might be happy to know that "a historic" is preferable according to the standard rules for English as laid down by that biblical text, Fowler's Modern English Usage. siℓℓy rabbit (talk) 13:02, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

=) Yes, I am sorry about that. I meant to do only a run of these certian articles that a bot just made but I included some other articles, which is why I had to go back and check them all. I guess I missed that one. Thank you for reverting it and being understanding. =) --mboverload@ 15:01, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes mboverload, it would be really cool if you can get an admin to bring back the Stan Burdman page I made[edit]

I pretty much added all I wanted to it but you can add more if you think I missed something. Braddj1977 (talk) 18:26, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Workin on it. --mboverload@ 04:52, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
