Citation for birth of Georgia Benkart

Hi Sue, Georgia's page was the second page I created on Wikipedia and I continue to watch it. Georgia died unexpectedly this week. University of Wisconsin, Madison, posted a brief mention of her death but friends of mine alerted me much earlier. I never had a good reference for her birth. A friend who does a lot of genealogy found her birth date in the ancestry.com records. I added her date of birth and the citation but I didn't know how to reference the public records on ancestry.com. Can you help? I hope so. Mvitulli (talk) 02:10, 2 May 2022 (UTC)

@Mvitulli: I added the census doc and formatted another ref. I'm glad I could help! Megalibrarygirl (talk) 23:04, 2 May 2022 (UTC)
I found Georgia and Paula Benkart in the 1950 Census. Father George II and mother Florence K. Both 43. Paula K was 3 and Georgia M. was 2 at the time of the census. George sold and installed furnaces.

https://1950census.archives.gov/search/?county=Youngstown%2C%20Mahoning&name=Benkart&page=1&state=OH

Thanks, megalibrarygirl. Is there any way to include the birth date citation from ancestry.com? Mvitulli (talk) 23:07, 2 May 2022 (UTC)
@Mvitulli: I don't think you need that one. Since we have the open source census record, we're good. :) Megalibrarygirl (talk) 21:27, 5 May 2022 (UTC)
I found another reference from her article on French Wikipedia. There should be a way to reference one of the ancestry.com databases. Sigh. Mvitulli (talk) 21:30, 5 May 2022 (UTC)

Photo of Georgia Benkart

Hi again. I can use some help on this. This photo (Georgia Benkart.jpg) was used in the recent Notices of the AMS article on Georgia Benkart and on the U Wisconsin-Madison In Memoriam page on Benkart. Both are referenced on Benkart's Wikipedia page. The photographer is Yvonne Nagel; she was given credit in the Notices articles. I contacted her and she herself uploaded it to Wikimedia Commons; she created the user name May.Jeanne. The Community Tech bot marked the photo for deletion pointing to the U Wisconsin-Madison In Memoriam page and claimed the photo on Wikimedia Commons violated copyright. I deleted the deletion tag with an explanation but I don't know what the correct procedure is. Can you help??? Mvitulli (talk) 23:14, 5 May 2022 (UTC)

New Page Patrol newsletter May 2022

New Page Review queue March 2022

Hello Megalibrarygirl/Archives/2022,

At the time of the last newsletter (No.26, September 2021), the backlog was 'only' just over 6,000 articles. In the past six months, the backlog has reached nearly 16,000, a staggering level not seen in several years. A very small number of users had been doing the vast majority of the reviews. Due to "burn-out", we have recently lost most of this effort. Furthermore, several reviewers have been stripped of the user right for abuse of privilege and the articles they patrolled were put back in the queue.

Several discussions on the state of the process have taken place on the talk page, but there has been no action to make any changes. The project also lacks coordination since the "position" is vacant.

In the last 30 days, only 100 reviewers have made more than 8 patrols and only 50 have averaged one review a day. There are currently 814 New Page Reviewers, but about a third have not had any activity in the past month. All 859 administrators have this permission, but only about a dozen significantly contribute to NPP.

This means we have an active pool of about 450 to address the backlog. We cannot rely on a few to do most of the work as that inevitably leads to burnout. A fairly experienced reviewer can usually do a review in a few minutes. If every active reviewer would patrol just one article per day, the backlog would very quickly disappear.

If you have noticed a user with a good understanding of Wikipedia notability and deletion, do suggest they help the effort by placing {{subst:NPR invite}} on their talk page.

If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process and its software.

To opt-out of future mailings, please remove yourself here.

Yes, please - for some reason, I've lost my access to some publications via TWL. Not sure how that happened. It has really put me in a bind. Atsme 💬 📧 22:11, 24 May 2022 (UTC)
