A barnstar for you!

The Writer's Barnstar
For your work in making Transphobia in the United States an insightful and informative topic, here's a barnstar. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 21:50, 6 April 2023 (UTC)
Thanks, Ritchie333, but I wish we didn't have to have a page like that. It's so awful that people in the US are making the lives of trans people so difficult right now. I know the UK has a lot of transphobia, too, but I didn't have the mental energy to work on it. In fact, I have a ton of info to add to the US page, but it's so depressing, sometimes I just have to step back. It feels like every day there's a new awful thing they are saying about trans people and I'm angry and sad and I wish the world was a better place. I appreciate you so much for reminding me why we do the work: the information is important even if it's a sh!tty situation. Megalibrarygirl (talk) 23:19, 6 April 2023 (UTC)
Know that the work you do is important, Sue. ((hugs)) Totally get where you are. Know that you aren't alone. SusunW (talk) 23:32, 6 April 2023 (UTC)
Thanks so much SusunW! :) I love hugs. They do help so much!!! Megalibrarygirl (talk) 16:02, 10 April 2023 (UTC)
There was a discussion on transgender topics on James O'Brien's LBC radio show the other day where he spent an hour taking to various trans people about things like olympic participation and access to toilets, and they didn't have a good answer, other than to just trust and respect people for who they are. Also, I've got a friend who's been a woman for at least 15 years and it's seriously affected her mental health. Which is why James OB got so annoyed by people thinking this was a lifestyle choice - of course it isn't, nobody would choose to have that much anguish and pain heaped on them and suffered that much abuse. Still, we need to document these issues in a neutral and calm manner, and Wikipedia is the best place for that. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 10:06, 7 April 2023 (UTC)
You're right, Ritchie333. We have to document things so that the information is there for people to have easy access to it. I wish people could see just how happy someone is when they start their transition. It is so beautiful to see a person who has felt like they are in the wrong skin all their lives be able to be their authentic self. Their joy is infectious and beautiful. They're happy in their own bodies for the first time... something we cis people take for granted! Megalibrarygirl (talk) 16:04, 10 April 2023 (UTC)
Had a surprise this evening, a friend of mine who I knew at college, but who I haven’t seen in about 20 years has just come out as a trans woman, which I could have never have expected. I’ve had loads of fun nights out with them during our 20s, and I never knew. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 16:44, 11 April 2023 (UTC)
@Ritchie333: It takes some people a long time to come to terms with themselves, especially when society is so difficult about things. I'm so glad your friend trusted you and I hope you have a chance to catch up! Megalibrarygirl (talk) 23:49, 11 April 2023 (UTC)
