June 2023[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Geniac. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Eesha Rebba, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Geniac (talk) 05:30, 18 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The correction made was as per her Government Identity Proof which has her correct date of birth which is same as the one I updated. Hence I made the change on her request. Thank you. MeherKilaru (talk) 10:40, 18 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No, that's not how Wikipedia works. Please read Wikipedia:Verifiability. "All content must be verifiable. The burden to demonstrate verifiability lies with the editor who adds or restores material, and it is satisfied by providing an inline citation to a reliable source that directly supports the contribution." The current citation provides the information that her date of birth is 19 April 1990. What "Government Identity Proof" are you talking about? Geniac (talk) 22:34, 18 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm talking about an 'Aadhaar Card' which is an identity card issued by the Government of India to all of it's citizens. In case you're not Indian, you can look it up on Google to know what it is. It's unfair that Wikipedia accepts citations from random websites and news portals who themselves write things like date of birth without verifying it with the individual and here you're rejecting the correction we're making based on a Govt issued proof of identity and date of birth. If you disagree with Wikipedia's Verifiability policy, you are welcome to start a discussion at Wikipedia talk:Verifiability to propose changing that policy. Geniac (talk) 04:21, 19 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
