Ontario[edit]

Thanks for sourcing and restoring the info on Ontario's famous people. Happy wiki-ing, --Rockero 20:59, 16 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for mr help at Cheonggukjang. However, shouldn't the third syllable start with a "ch," not a "j"? And the second syllable start with a "k," not a "g"? Badagnani 17:57, 25 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was talking specifically about M-R, not RR -- you have Ch'ŏnggukjang but according to the Wiktionary entries for the hanja it should be spelled Ch'ŏngkukchang (with initial "k" for second syllable and initial "ch" for third syllable). Badagnani 18:15, 25 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the explanation. Wow, that is complicated. Glad you have that reference book handy. I'm learning both systems via Wikipedia and didn't realize about all the exceptions. I thought you could just look on Wiktionary under the hanja and follow whatever it says for the romanization there. But the hyphenations, apostrophes, changes of letter depending on where it occurs in the word, etc. is complicated. I've found only one such exception in RR, the use of final "k" instead of "g" as in "gagok" (should be "gagog," but it isn't). Badagnani 18:34, 25 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Caló[edit]

Thanks for your additions to the list. But in case you haven't seen the discussion on the associated talkpages, we are trying to keep the list to words and phrases used by the historical Pachuco subculture (that is, we are trying to avoid slangs words and expressions that are found in normal Mexican Spanish or today's Spanglish). I realize that the list is not in the best shape at the moment, but I may have to remove some of your additions (and some others) to keep items on the list within its agreed-upon scope.--Rockero 17:19, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image tagging for Image:Shitake.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Shitake.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

Bugs[edit]

Hi Merkurix,

I do have some bug books, but am away from them presently; will check back in a few days. Cheers, -- Visviva 16:47, 12 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK, to my eyes this looks a lot like Riptortus clavatus Thunberg, a species of bean bug in the family Alydidae. See Google images. Note the saw-toothed hind legs, from which it takes its Korean name 톱다리개미허리노린재 ("saw-legged ant-waisted bug"). It favors the flowers and fruits of legumes, is 1.4-1.7 cm long, and is usually found in late spring, summer, or fall.
If that doesn't seem quite right, my bug book* notes that Megalotomis costalis Stal looks very similar, but is somewhat darker and shorter (1.2-1.5 cm). See image results for M. costalis.
Hope that's helpful, -- Visviva 08:30, 18 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Cocktails[edit]

Hello. As a professional bartender (at least according to the userbox you added) you might be interested in the WikiProject Cocktails. It is a group of people at Wikipedia working together to improve the quality of information related to mixed drinks. Having more people participate who really know the topic from a professional point of view would be terrific. Please consider becoming an active Participant. Also, if you are interested, a name change is being considered for the WikiProject from Cocktails to Mixed Drinks, and you can add your opinions to the discussion and vote. I hope to see you around. --Willscrlt (Talk|Cntrb) 04:37, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Naco.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Naco.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:39, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Jal60s.gif)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Jal60s.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 06:29, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:4 1000peso 2.jpg}[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:4 1000peso 2.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Fair use rationale for Image:Bean pole logo.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Bean pole logo.gif. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Help![edit]

Hello Merkurix,

Can you help editing Gotjawal Forest?

I'have spent lots of time to wikify the article, but the messeges of cleanup, orphan, and wikify are still there on the head of the article.

I tried, but it is very difficult for me to understand how I can do it.

One more thing is, it is very difficult for me to make an infobox. I tried several times, but continued to fail.

Can you help me?

I have nominated David Trosch, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/David Trosch. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please update your status with WP:VG[edit]

Dear WikiProject Video games member,

You are receiving this message because you have either Category:WikiProject Video games members or {{User WPVG}} somewhere in your userspace and you have edited Wikipedia in recent months.

The Video games project has created a member list to provide a clearer picture of its active membership.

All members have currently been placed in the "Inactive" section by default. Please remove your username from the "Inactive" listing and place it under the "Active" listing if you plan on regularly:

Ideally, members are encouraged to do both, but either one meets our criteria of inclusion. Members still listed inactive at the beginning of November 2009 may be removed. You may re-add yourself to the active list at any time. Thank you for your help, and we look forward to working with you.

Nomination of David Trosch for deletion[edit]

A discussion has begun about whether the article David Trosch, which you created or to which you contributed, should be deleted. While contributions are welcome, an article may be deleted if it is inconsistent with Wikipedia policies and guidelines for inclusion, explained in the deletion policy.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/David Trosch until a consensus is reached, and you are welcome to contribute to the discussion.

You may edit the article during the discussion, including to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Guy (Help!) 16:09, 26 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Asian 10,000 Challenge invite[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 05:23, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
