Zim2007 issue

I'm glad you put this issue on WP:SSP. I'm also glad to have you looking into this matter with me. This has turned into a bit of an annoying problem. --MatthewUND(talk) 02:34, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

Looks like the problems rising out of Zim2007 and his myriad of sockpuppets might be a thing of the past. Let's hope so! --MatthewUND(talk) 07:56, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
I agree that this new user's contributions do seem to suggest that they may be another sockpuppet. I've come across this user, but I hadn't noticed the strong similarities in their contributions. I guess we'll just have to monitor the situation for now. I'm glad you caught this. --MatthewUND(talk) 23:02, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Penelope Taynt.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Penelope Taynt.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 01:00, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

News
---North Dakota articles on Main Page---
This past month, two new North Dakota-related articles appeared in the Main Page's "Did you know?" section. The articles were Zip to Zap and Climate of North Dakota. Congratulations to the creators of these articles — it's always exciting to see North Dakota articles on Wikipedia's Main Page. A request has also recently been made to make Grand Forks, North Dakota a Featured Article of the day.

---Active members and inactive members---
In an effort to more accurately gauge just how large WPND is, the WPND members list has been split into an active and inactive list. If you have not made an edit to a North Dakota-related page within the last three months, you are moved to the inactive list and do not receive the WPND newsletter. If you disagree with moving members to an inactive list, please share your thoughts at the WPND talk page.

---New administrator---
WPND member MatthewUND (talk · contribs) was recently promoted to Administrator status. That means that he has been granted the use of special tools so he can take care of housekeeping tasks such as blocking disruptive users, protecting pages, deleting pages, and quickly reverting edits to pages. It has been mentioned in the past that WPND was in need of an administrator. With MatthewUND's promotion, that is now a reality. Please contact MatthewUND if you are ever in need of an administrator's help.

NDSU Baseball

This nutcase is uptight about this DI crap becuase NDSU is still listed as DII becuase they are still under their probation period from their switch to DI. If that makes any sense.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Leopold Samsonite (talkcontribs)

Leopold, you don't help your case by calling another editor a "nutcase". --MatthewUND(talk) 00:10, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Fair use disputed for Image:KSOO AM.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:KSOO AM.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 02:23, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

Mankato radio stuff

Hey, just wanted to drop in and say thanks for helping with the updates on various Mankato radio stations. I don't live there anymore, so I only have a vague idea of what the stations are really doing (I used to work at a station there). I tracked down the new website for KQYK (it was registered in Mankato, so it appears to be legit) and added the link and the new logo. If you find out anything else about KXLP and KATO-FM, by all means add it. Thanx!--Fightingirish 20:24, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

News
---Article deletions---
A series of deletions of North Dakota articles this past month is a good reminder that we need to be careful when creating new articles. Before creating any article, it is a good idea to 1) check out Wikipedia:Notability to see if the subject deserves an article and 2) make sure that worthwhile sources can be found pertaining to the subject and are effectively used to cite the article. Often, instead of simply creating a brand new stub article for a subject, it is a good idea to expand an existing article that in some way can address the subject.

---Peer reviews---
The University of North Dakota and North Dakota State University articles are currently up for peer review. Please take a moment to visit UND's peer review and NDSU's peer review. Read through the articles and then share your opinions of where the articles currently stand and how they might be improved. Peer review is often a step in the process of getting articles to Good Article or Featured Article status. As a WikiProject, we are very much in need of more GA or FA class articles.

Housekeeping
---Mandan demoted---
After a review, the Mandan tribe article is no longer considered Featured Article class. This is a reminder that even after articles have made it all the way to FA class, it is always possible for them to lose that designation. This also means that WPND is down to one FA class article.

New articles
Please help to improve and expand these new North Dakota-related articles:

Fair use rationale for Image:ABC West.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:ABC West.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BritandBeyonce (talkcontribs) 10:49, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of WBIZ-FM, and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: WBIZ. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot 02:00, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

Please use the 'move' tab

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that recently you carried out a copy and paste page move. Please do not move articles by copying and pasting them because it splits the article's history, which is needed for attribution and is helpful in many other ways. In most cases, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. If there is an article that you cannot move yourself by this process, follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Requested moves. Also, if there are any other articles that you copied and pasted, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. -- But|seriously|folks  03:40, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

Sorry for the impersonal template. It's the easiest way to explain it. If you move pages, best to use the tab, otherwise the history is left behind, and that violates the GFDL. For splitoff articles, include an attribution note and link back to the original article to rope in the history. Thanks!! -- But|seriously|folks  03:42, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

---UND article upgraded---
The University of North Dakota article was recently upgraded to "good article" status. This brings WPND up to two good articles and one featured article. We should work on bringing other North Dakota articles up to a higher status. Look in Category:Top-importance North Dakota articles for articles to work on improving. It would be great to get the main North Dakota article to GA or FA class in the near future. There are also a number of other articles which are close to GA status already...a little work will make them ready for that designation.

---Assessing article importance---
Work continues on assessing the "importance" of all articles that fall under the banner of WPND. Currently, around a third of all articles have been rated for importance.

New articles
Please help to improve and expand these new (or newly added to WPND) North Dakota-related articles:
