May 2023[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. If you wish to rename the article, see WP:PCM. Materialscientist (talk) 01:55, 8 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No I don't wish to rename it. I meant to correct it. And you removed the correction. The information is cited as well. Missmonikarose (talk) 02:02, 8 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No I don't wish to rename it. Are you agreeing that the article should be titled Yliaster, then? That is where the article is now; unless the article is renamed, that is where an article on Yliaster/Iliaster will remain—unless the Wikipedia community reaches consensus that it should be reanmed to Iliaster. —C.Fred (talk) 11:40, 8 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that's correct (leaving the title Yliaster). I was separating info from the "Yliaster" page (including some I contributed prior to that edit) and putting it on Iliaster and removing the redirect. Missmonikarose (talk) 18:56, 8 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ultimately, The goal was to correct Iliaster (which is currently being redirected to Yliaster with a Y) to contain the information that is in the Yliaster page.
Iliaster with an "I" is the more commonly known spelling in Alchemy (a term coined by Paracelsus). Yliaster with a Y is more commonly known in You-gi-Oh (anime) and also in art. Yliaster is the alt spelling for Iliaster not the other way around. Hope that clarifies my intention. Missmonikarose (talk) 19:08, 8 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Also, spelling is Iliaster not Yliaster and the redirect should be the other way around, if it all. Missmonikarose (talk) 02:10, 8 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Iliaster. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Drmies (talk) 02:19, 8 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You can claim you are right, but that's not how it works here. You can discuss your concerns on the article talk page. What you can not do is edit warring. Drmies (talk) 02:20, 8 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks did that already. Missmonikarose (talk) 02:29, 8 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Good. Then you build consensus. Start a conversation. Find editors who have a stake in it. What you don't do is continuing to edit war, especially as a novice editor. Drmies (talk) 02:41, 8 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Who talks like that?? "I'll tell you what you don't do..." That's not helpful. Missmonikarose (talk) 02:53, 8 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm "Please do your due diligence..."? You have been making these edits which weren't just poorly explained but also destroyed the formatting of the pages a few times, and I think you made them as an IP as well. I just scrubbed two edits because they introduced copyrighted material. A filter blocked you from making those edits an impressive thirteen times. At least three admins have reverted you and/or inquired about what you were going for. At some point, the disruption just needs to stop. Drmies (talk) 15:41, 8 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This hardly seems like an attempt to initiate a conversation to come to a consensus on edits.
In those 13 edits some are still intact. By the way its foolish to assume that I am the only person at that IP address. 13 edits or 130 edits coming from this IP address - it doesn't matter.
If you have no desire to help or discuss the article topic and the edits than
stop writing me. Its just harassment at this point. Missmonikarose (talk) 18:50, 8 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
