December 2023[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Binksternet. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Lifeboats of the Titanic, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Binksternet (talk) 22:05, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

January 2024[edit]

Information icon Hi MisterKubic! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Sinking of the Titanic that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Thank you. DrKay (talk) 17:09, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

February 2024[edit]

Information icon Please do not add or change content without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. DrKay (talk) 17:23, 1 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I am not an alternate account of CEP. We simply use the same IP address. He was trying to help my case in keeping the "full stop" edit, instead of reverting it back to "full astern." I will make sure that all of my edits have what Wikipedia considers to be reliable sources next time, as firsthand accounts are apparently innaccurate. MisterKubic (talk) 15:36, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Merely using the same IP is not necessarily a problem, but what you describe is sock puppetry. 331dot (talk) 09:31, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

That's called sock puppetry. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 22:15, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you![edit]

@USA1855: Wikipedia is not a WP:BATTLEGROUND, Fighting is not to be awarded medals. And certainly not for recruiting warriors to fight here. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 09:34, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I(on the above regarding the sock puppetry) So, I am assuming that you are citing the "do not ask friends or family to create accounts that support you" rule? I may have technically run astray of that rule, but that does not violate sockpuppet regulations, per se. After all, this account had existed long before Kubic's did on wikipedia, and both of us have made copious edits, Kubic having edited on simple english wikipedia for a period and my account, which is older, began with the purpose of fixing/updating the Norwegian Cruise Lines page. As for running to his aid, though we may be friends, I had indeed checked and validated all the sources that he had used. Yet again, i'm left wondering whether an indefinite ban was really necessary, as I feel like at the very most a warning would be at hand. It does seem like DrKay here has a history of falsely accusing people of violations and banning or giving severe punishments/ reverting other's progress without any warnings. Instead of accusing us with near-baseless proof, he could have politely pointed out that we could file a Dispute Resolution Request or he could have passive-agressively semi-protected the page. please do understand, or at least try to understand my point of view, i implore you. CEP (talk) 00:42, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
also note a hilarious conversation wherein after removing most likely correct information, after another mod explained to the poor guy, DrKay here responded with
You requested "no further communication" between us. Posting on my talk page and starting new discussions relating to me isn't the way to go about that. There is a longstanding consensus on wikipedia that if a user requests no further contact, then no further contact is made. So, whingeing about a lack of contact, when that's exactly what you asked for, is unpersuasive to say the least. I was merely doing as you asked. DrKay (talk) 19:17, 8 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I requested 'no further communication' based on your not answering (whether through choice or lack of understanding, I could not tell) my actual question; I found that we were going in circles, achieving nothing, despite my best efforts to get you to look beyond the honorifics' stance, about which I was never really bothered, anyway: I would happily have returned the articles to their previous versions if my point about how conferees should be styled had not been despotically cast aside. Thank goodness for administrators such as Ivanvector, however, whose explanation, advice and, above all else, tone are commendable. ZeroAlpha87 (talk) 22:24, 8 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Your tone is far from commendable. Note your insults, accusations and obvious contempt here and elsewhere. On this page alone, you say I'm a despot, improper, shut down discussion "on a whim", "not open to the very ideals that he/she is meant to promote", "the worst", abusive, shameful and flippant. Let me be clear: Do not post to this talk page again unless required to do so by policy. DrKay (talk) 06:26, 9 September 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The whole thread is located a couple of throws down from User talk:DrKay CEP (talk) 00:56, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I believe that this warrants some sort of action against DrKay here, but i'm not sure how to go through with that.
A warning would be great
a reference to wikipedia's article dispute page would've been even better
even stretching those laws, and in that case where I might have violated COI laws, A temporary block seems reasonable.
But a permanent, indefinite one? CEP (talk) 00:59, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
