Darragh O'Connor[edit]

Motherwell FC is the only source I can see saying he was born in London, all the others say Wexford. GiantSnowman 15:35, 23 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, Motherwellfc. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Darragh O'Connor, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. GiantSnowman 15:50, 23 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nobody is advertising, publicising or promoting anyone. We are editing inaccurate information. Thanks.

If you are employed by Motherwell F.C. you should not be editing article about your club or your players, and you should not be claiming that your club website is absolutely correct when there are numerous third-party sources which contradict it - and you should not edit war. Why have you continued to restore the information and why have you (until now) refused to discuss the matter? GiantSnowman 15:58, 23 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Very happy to discuss. We've only made the edits in the last few hours(!). The club website is correct and the information is directly from the individual. The previous article you cite is inaccurate. We are restoring the information because the place of birth we cite is correct. Motherwellfc (talk) 15:59, 23 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing.

We don't want to be engaged in an edit war. The club and the player himself is a far more reliable source than a third party article, and the club information should be regarded as https://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/player/darragh-oconnor/ Motherwellfc (talk) 16:10, 23 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is a tertiary source, we follow what reliable, independent sources say. And the Irish Examiner [1] clearly calls him "Wexford-born", so I'm not sure how we've got a discrepancy between them and your clib website. Joseph2302 (talk) 16:13, 23 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

So the individual himself is a less reliable source than a third party article?! Motherwellfc (talk) 16:13, 23 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Considering that same Motherwell web page also says that O'Connor made 4 appearances for Leicester, when he actually made 6 appearances in the EFL Trophy for Leicester under-21s, I'm perfectly entitled to question the factual accuracy of all of that page. Joseph2302 (talk) 16:33, 23 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hey we all make mistakes :-). And the club website is updated now to reflect the accurate information. Motherwellfc (talk) 16:36, 23 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

ANI notification[edit]

Your account has been blocked from editing Wikipedia because your username, Motherwellfc, does not meet our username policy. Your username is the principal reason for the block. You are welcome to continue editing after you have selected a new username that meets the username policy guidelines, which are summarized below.
Per the username policy, a username should represent an individual and should not: represent a group or organization; be promotional; be misleading (such as indicating possession of special user rights or being a "Bot" account (unless approved for such purposes)); be offensive or otherwise disruptive. However, a username that contains the name of a organization and also identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87" is allowed, though, among others, the guidance on conflict of interest and the policy of paid-contribution disclosure are relevant.
You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our username policy guidelines and create the account yourself. Alternatively, if you wish for your existing contributions to carry over under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:
  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} below. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "Email this user" from their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a change of name request.
  3. Your requested new username cannot already be in use. Therefore, please check the list here to see if a name is taken prior to requesting a change of name.
Appeals: If, after reading the guide to appealing blocks you believe you were blocked in error, then you may appeal this block by adding {{unblock|Your reason here}} below this notice. Black Kite (talk) 17:31, 23 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
