Thanks[edit]

Thank you for fixing the links in the Zork Nemesis article. Your username is cool. Hekerui (talk) 19:21, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop fixing redirects that are not broken[edit]

Please review the guideline outlined at WP:R2D and stop "fixing" links to redirects that are not broken. You are also using a misleading edit summary. –xenotalk 18:00, 10 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, please stop.  æronphonehome  19:16, 15 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Xeno asked a good question on my talk page. Would you care to answer?
As for the Templates, does is say "you can" or does it say "you must"? The links you keep reverting are there because that's where the article information will eventually land. I can see that you want to fix it now now right now, but they will fix themselves as I do repairs and improvements to the articles themselves. You can either bitch about a template or help improve the articles (Erasing every redirect is not considered an improvement, before you ask). No deadline, Spirit of the law, Do not warn established editors, etc...  æronphonehome  20:09, 15 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Seconded. Especially on disambiguation pages it is explicitly against the disambiguation style guidelines to replace redirects with piped links as you did at North Star (disambiguation). Please stop. olderwiser 23:31, 23 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop. Next time you fix a redirect that is not broken, you will be blocked from editing. –xenotalk 23:38, 23 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Since you've continued your edits despite several requests and warnings not to, I've blocked you for 24 hours. Please take the time to review the Wikipedia:Redirect guideline, especially the section entitled Do not "fix" links to redirects that are not broken.
  • This block may be lifted if you note here that you have reviewed the guideline and will not make edits contrary to it in the future.
  • If you disagree with the guideline, you should actively seek to have it changed rather than ignoring it. –xenotalk 14:29, 24 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

(I will do my best to follow the guideline, but I do think it should be changed because the guideline basically says "do not try and improve articles". NES Wii (talk) 14:31, 24 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Changing Delphic Expanse to List of Star Trek regions of space#Delphic Expanse is not an improvement. If the former becomes an article, the former redirect becomes a working link to the new article. You still don't seem to understand why we have the WP:R2D guideline in place. –xenotalk 14:35, 24 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I understand, that doesn't mean I agree. Under that logic, let's link everything, even a character that had 1 line in a TV episode that aired 50 years ago in case they get a article. The majority of these will never get articles because they were not notable enough to get articles. In the tiny chance they do, it would be easy to go and change those links. Warning and blocking people for fixing and improving articles and links is counterproductive and asinine. There really is no reason to stop people from fixing the links, especially since it is NOT a blockable offense since it's only a discouraged activity and not a banned activity. I think you overstepped you authority as admin and think there should be a policy or guideline put in place stating that trivial blocks like this should not be allowed. NES Wii (talk) 15:35, 24 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If you don't agree with a guideline, you may 1) attempt to have it changed, or 2) leave the project. Simply ignoring it is not an option.
I don't agree with some of the guidelines we have here either, but I do follow them rather than flout them.
That you feel it is a "fix" and an "improvement" is your opinion - it apparently does not align with the community's thoughts on this which are outlined at WP:NOTBROKEN.
Please see Wikipedia talk:Redirect#Enforcing WP:R2D?.
You may seek an independent review of this block at the administrators' noticeboard, I would suggest in the section WP:Administrators' noticeboard#Enforcing WP:R2D?.
I have unblocked you on the condition that you stop bypassing redirects that are not broken. If you resume this disruptive activity, you will be reblocked. –xenotalk 15:43, 24 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've replied at my page. Thank you for trying to bring your work in-line with community norms. I see that many of the edits you are making with Wikicleaner are productive -- WP:DPWL is a never-ending problem and working on it is an arduous and often thankless task. If I see you miss a step or two I will point it out to you. –xenotalk 17:21, 24 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Here's an example of an unnecessary edit: [1] (especially the 3rd one - where it put a bit of English nomenclature right in the middle of everything else which was Italian). Changing "Changeling (Star Trek)" to a #Section link to the list of species wasn't productive either. –xenotalk 17:37, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please be more careful with your edits. You are expected to follow applicable guidelines, unless consensus supports exceptional treatment. Your recent edit to Harbinger (disambiguation) was incorrect in two respects: 1) the piped link for the Star Trek: Enterprise episode was incomplete in that the piped link did not match the displayed link; 2) You incorrectly replaced a redirect with a piped link. olderwiser 19:15, 24 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • You continue to fix redirects that are not broken. (I.e. bypassing Tom's Games to Tom's Hardware). I am going to have to ask you to simply stop fixing all redirects altogether, as you cannot seem to determine which redirects are acceptable to fix and which should be left in place. This will be enforced by blocks of increasing length. –xenotalk 14:57, 10 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
