Z Games Article Reactivation

I would like to request that you please reactivate the article "Z Games." It has been edited so it is no longer an advertisement, but rather and informative article about the Z Games company and its games. If anything needs to be changed, please let me know. I can't do any editing since you seem to have had it "protected."

I appreciate your help. Zgames

Message

I left you a message just before you archived. Petros471 18:56, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about the archiving. Regarding the AOL votes, this user has been constantly vandalising many different RFAs and an RFB over the past months, even impersonating me and using sockpuppets. If I strike out the vote, they will remove the strikeout and nobody will notice. Simply removing them allows me to quickly find when this editor vandalises other RFAs and I can act accordingly. Naconkantari 19:15, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you delete this page? I see you noted it as CSD G3; it may have been vandalized at the time (I don't know) but it had a long history and was not eligible for CSD (if it was vandalized, it should have been reverted). BoojiBoy 19:34, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Colorado Rockies (NHL) on deletion review

An editor has asked for a deletion review of Colorado Rockies (NHL). Since you closed the deletion discussion for (or speedy-deleted) this article, your reasons on how or why you did so will be greatly appreciated in the above review.

Hi there Naconkantari. Does a7 extend to businesses? Or does a7 groups of people only refer to bands, sports teams, music groups? I know that bands, sports teams, also make money etc, but their raison d'etre is to "win competitions" rather than to make money irrespective of "quality" if you know what I mean. Please re-protect Opie and Anthony to semi-protection at your convenience.

Attention whore and Payneos are both successfully seeking consensus at my suggestion at this time, however, there are several IP address users adding the disputed material back to the page without reviewing the talk page discussion, hence my request for semi-protection. It's my fear that if we don't lock it down to semi that this will descend into another edit war. Thanks. CQJ 17:16, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Block verification

Blocking anon IPs

Hi. Could I ask you why you aren't putting test5 templates on talk pages? It's confusing for me because sometimes I'm hunting the same vandals as you, and I find that you've blocked but I have no way of knowing that until I've reinvented the wheel. - Richardcavell 00:49, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I block many IP addresses and sometimes don't have the time to leave a test5 message. I'll try to include them more. Thanks Naconkantari 00:50, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Open proxy

Hi, an IP vandalized Adolf Hitler, introducing \\\ at the same time, so I blocked for a week, to give time for an investigation at WP:OP I see that you extended it to indefinite. I have now been told that it is not an open proxy. I don't have any knowledge on the subject, but I don't understand how it was introducing all the \\\ throughout the article. Anyway, with some reluctance, I'm going to unblock. It's now been more than 24 hours. Cheers, AnnH 23:27, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't unblock. Anything that adds the slashes *is* a misconfigured CGI proxy. Any edits from there will damage the articles by introducing the slashes. Naconkantari 02:23, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've reblocked as this IP is a colocation server, which means that it is hosting an open proxy that a scan would probably not detect. Naconkantari 02:25, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think you're right. I wasn't actually comfortable unblocking, but I did it because the "official" response from WP:OP was to unblock. Whether it's open proxy or not (and I don't have any understanding of that), we can certainly do without the slashes. Cheers. AnnH 21:57, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

August Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: To-Do List
The Esperanza To-Do List is a place where you may list any request, big or small, for assistance. If you need help with archiving your usertalk, for example, all you need to do is list it here and somebody will help you out. Likewise, if you need help with some area of editing on Wikipedia, list it here! Again, any matter, trivial or not, can be placed on this page. However, all matters listed on this page must not be of an argumentative nature. You do not need to be a member of Esperanza (or this program) to place or fulfill requests on this page. If you don't have any requests, consider coming by and fulfilling a few! This program has not been very active, but has lots of potential!
What's New?
In order to help proposed programs become specific enough to make into full-fledged programs, the In development section of the proposals page has been created. Proposals that are promising, but need to be organized in more detail are listed here. Please take a look at what is there, and help the proposals turn into programs.
To improve both the layout and text of the front page, in an attempt to clarify the image of Esperanza, the front page is going to have some redesigning take place. Please take your creative minds to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Front page redesign to brainstorm good ideas.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  1. In order to make sure all users who join Esperanza are welcomed, a list of volunteers who are willing to welcome new Esperanzians is at Wikipedia:Esperanza/Members#Esperanza_welcomers. Please add yourself if you are interested; we want to make sure all new Esperanza members are welcomed!
  2. The In development section of the proposals page has been created.
  3. Proposals page: Some proposals have been moved to the aforementioned "In development" section, some have been left as a proposal, and others have been archived. For those proposals that were a good idea but didn't necessarily constitute a program, General Esperanzial Actions has been created.
  4. Two small pieces of charter reform will be decided on in a straw poll at Wikipedia talk:Esperanza/Governance. One involves filling the position of any councillors who may leave, the other involves reforming the charter.
  5. Until cooperation with the Kindness Campaign is better defined, it remains as a proposed program.
  6. There is a page for discussing the front page redesign.

Null Edit

I saw you test-edited Eurythmics, probably in response to my (anonymous) request for eurythmics.com to be taken off the spam list. Opinion needed

Hiya, are you available to give an opinion on something? I'm choosing you kind of at random as an uninvolved admin. Could you please take a look at the recent edits at DragonRealms? Someone (evidently a disgruntled ex-player or contractor) keeps inserting highly negative POV information there. I've been removing it, but it's been turning into an edit war and the individual is escalating personal attacks, and I don't want to have to push it to the edge of 3RR. Could you please take a look and let me know your opinion on the information in question? Thanks.  :) --Elonka 04:04, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The other editor is trying to get you to discuss your major changes on the article's talk page. Please do so. IF you can't come to an agreement, then take the matter to requests for comment. Thanks Naconkantari 04:14, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
In my opinion, the other editor is violating WP:BLP by posting clearly inflammatory information about living people, without any verification. It is my belief that their attempt to "discuss" this is just a stalling tactic to keep the negative information on the page for as long as possible.  :/ I have made multiple attempts to discuss this with them on the talk page, advising them about WP:V, WP:NOR, WP:BLP, and so forth, but to no avail. It is my belief that their behavior is vandalism, and requires admin intervention. --Elonka 04:23, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Norman Technologies - deletion reason

Could you be kind enough to explain how you determined that the "consensus" on Norman Technologies was for a Delete? I thought that the default when a consensus is not reached, is to "Keep". The final tally, as far as I could see was: 26 Delete, versus 18 Keep. That is, 59% vs. 41%. Does that constitute consensus? -- MyWikiBiz 21:38, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I closed it as delete because after reviewing the AfD and the article, I found it to be a non-notable company. This comment "this article does not meet notability requirements, and this is a bad precedent to allow people to be paid to write articles, meaning they have a vested interest in creating the article and making sure it's kept. If a writer is being paid, what's to keep the writer or his employers from paying for "keep" votes?" sums up what I believe. As always, if you feel that the deletion process was incorrect, WP:DRV is available. Naconkantari 00:54, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Personally, I can understand the failure of notability requirements, and I respect your decision on that point alone. If, in the next few months or years, another independent publication or two (other than the Charlotte Business Journal) discuss the company Norman Technologies, then I think that a new attempt to establish the article ought to pass inspection, based on Criterion 1 of WP:CORP. However, your mention of the "bad precedent" argument suggests to me that political reasons were also present in your mind when making the Delete call, and that is nearly as "bad" as the supposedly bad precedent. I will not personally pursue WP:DRV for this company at this time. -- MyWikiBiz 02:43, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The site-wide election notice

Hi. Would you mind visiting MediaWiki talk:Sitenotice and explaining in more detail the reason you posted the site-wide election notice at MediaWiki:Sitenotice. Thanks. Oleg Alexandrov (talk) 22:16, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Spam blacklist

I don't know what the procedure is for adding sites to the spam blacklist, but I saw that you're active with the file so I'm presenting tihs here. Jason Bennett, an acting teacher, became notorious this spring for the self-promotion by him or his followers [4], principally Sgactorny (talk · contribs) and recently 66.98.131.107 (talk · contribs) but also 69.86.190.204 (talk · contribs). They have repeatedly added links to http://www.jbactors.com to about eleven articles on acting and acting coaches, have used misleading labels for the links, and have deleted the links of other acting schools. I propose that the site be added to the blacklist due to the repetive spam problem. -Will Beback 23:34, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

PS: I found the talk page with proposals. I'll copy this text there. -Will Beback 23:45, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Away

Where are you right now? I still live in Bothell, Washington. Bigtop 22:55, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, can you hear me? Bigtop 22:25, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm here, just in and out as I'm available. Naconkantari 22:33, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The source is, I think, this one [5]: Is this viable? It's only available through the Google cache so it may be that the Jennings campaign has already contacted the American Reporter and asked them to retract their article. Can we still use it as a source? --Jim (Talk) 23:05, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'd check on WP:ANI. Naconkantari 23:07, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Recent Reverts

Hello, I just wanted to send you the same response that was sent to other post authors concerning accreditation, namely the information related to Trinity School of Theology and Apologetics and ICAATS (the agensy which accredits them). The post below is a verbatim of the information I sent to the other authors. If you still feel that you are valid in your information please provide the information that would contradict the information I am sending to you. If not, then please allow the changes to stand as valid and correct information. thanks...

The Post

Hello CaliEd, Thanks for the reply and I will try to be brief with my response. I did some investigating as you suggested and found the following information from the Internet...The information to which I referred in the edits was related to the National Consitution of India and certain Acts that were established for the purposes of minority-community populations within the country. I pulled this information is the Ministry of Human Resource Development http://www.education.nic.in/minority.asp under the Higher Education section of the website. The Act in question is The National Commission for Minority Educational Institution (Amendment) Act, 2004

The Act states that minority-communities within the country are entitled to be supervised by agencies outside the scope of the Education Department and the UGC so that all people will have the same opportunity to have access to higher education. The Act allows for the creation and operation of entities that will basically function as accreditation agents under the strict supervision of the State and Central Government.

In addition I went to several websites listing the institutions which were considered blacklisted by several U.S. State Education Agencies that were listed in several of the articles posted in Wikipedia and the Trinity School of Theology and Apologetics nor ICAATS are not on their lists. I have no personal vendetta against you or others who have posted this information. I am only asking for fair representation of the information that is in the entry. I will seek to secure other documentation to further verify the information, however, it will be hard for you to argue against the Act of the National Constitution of India which in fact does support the existence of organizations like Trinity School and the organization which accredits them, namely, ICAATS...Thanks Tob55 03:30, 21 August 2006 (UTC) 11:55, 21 August, 2006[reply]

Apologies

Dear Sir,

Thanks for your message and many apologies. I completely respect Wikipedia and the work that you're doing and am sorry for acting so frivolously in regards to it. To be honest (and this is very naive of me) I didn't realize quite what a large and important endeavour it is and am very impressed by the constant research that goes on. I can now see how much work you have to do to keep on top of people making inappropriate changes and how annoying it must be to discover deliberate fallacies.

I can assure you that we won't be bothering you again with our little project. Apologies again and good luck,

VG Farmer

Thanks for deleting that article, but could you also take a look at The danks? It has the exact same content, and you can also close the AfD that is being plagued by anons and socks. Thanks! --Mr. Lefty Talk to me! 17:17, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Danks

Thanks for closing the AFD on The danks. It looks like the pages need to be protected -- The Danks has been recreated twice already, and an anon removed the db-repost tag on the last one. Thanks, NawlinWiki 17:25, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks!

Many thanks for helping fend off the vandals while Gregorian chant was on the main page. I wasn't prepared for the level of vandalism. It's heartening to know how efficient and diligent you WP admins and editors are to revert it! Peirigill 07:19, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Biatchbiatch temporarily unblocked

You recently blocked Biatchbiatch (talk · contribs) for having an inappropriate username. However, Biatchbiatch wanted to change his/her username, so I've unblocked him/her for now. --Ixfd64 18:59, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Do you mind expanding on how you came to the conclusion regarding the close, please? --badlydrawnjeff talk 02:03, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't feel that the article met the guidelines listed at WP:PROF. However, since the guideline page is not yet active, WP:DRV may be a viable solution. Naconkantari 02:08, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

SGGS on Meat deletion

May I ask why you closed this as a no consensus? Taking out the clear puppets and similar problems, it seems to be a delete or a merge. JoshuaZ 02:26, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, 1 for 3 tonight. I felt that there were valid objections to the deletion and the article underwent somewhat of a rewrite during the discussion. As I said in the section above, WP:DRV is always available. Naconkantari 02:30, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, that seems like a reasonable answer. I'm not going to take something to DRV unless there was some actual mistake and you seem to have thought it through. That seems well within closing admin discretionary leeway. JoshuaZ 02:34, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Would you at least consider reopening the discussion for a while or relisting it? It was still being discussed at the time of closing, and productively - one of the deletes was changed to a merge recently, for example. I agree with User:JoshuaZ, and I think an even stronger concensus could be formed with more time. -Elmer Clark 04:54, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Naconkantari, why do you feel this account is in violation of WP:USERNAME? — xaosflux Talk 12:35, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
