Persian language clarification?[edit]

Hello Negahbaan,

I know you're often involved in fixing and correcting wrongly written Persian texts on Wiki, and based on that, I have a question. A certain user on the page Bacha Bazi, after saying that bacha bazi was professed in iran due to afghan immigrants there (ha-ha), has now added a wrong text to the page. As far as I know and remember (and im not a pro in persian I will tell), "bache" means "child, little person", etc, while in Dari (afghan dialect) it means something quite a lot different, namely "boy".

However, he has now added to the lede that "Bacha Bazi", that certain Central Asian/Afghan culturaly thingy, in Persian means "boy play", which is simply wrong. It has to be clarified that Bacha in Dari does not have the same meaning as Bache in Iranian Persian.

Unfortunately, as I mentioned, I'm not a pro regarding Persian, so it would be great if you could fix this. :) Before those changes, the page looked like this which had the Dari meaning simply added. [1]

Negahbaan, left you a reply on my talk page, but as pinging works weird now and then, I'm leaving this notification on your talk page too.

Opinion?[edit]

Hello Negahbaan,

What do you think about this edit? [2] I believe they are not appropriate for the lede, as Dari "Bacha" has a different meaning than Western Persian/Iranian Persian "Bache". The former means "boy" while the latter means "child", a crucial translation for the article's topic, as it regards boys. Please let me know what you think about it and whether you find it a good one or not. :-) Bests - LouisAragon (talk) 17:48, 13 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Could you check this articles' lede again? I do not believe the translations are correct. The word has a different meaning in Western/Iranian Persian as compared to Eastern Persian, but perhaps you with a better knowledge in Persian could adjust it more properly?
