Moving pages[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia, please do not move articles such as 2021 United States presidential inauguration without consensus and especially controversial political articles, which are subject to arbcom restrictions. Biden has not been declared the winner yet. Praxidicae (talk) 14:30, 6 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello User:Praxidicae, apologies for the jump. Should we wait until Associated Press makes the official call? I noticed Biden's Wikipedia page had been updated to say he is the president-elect. 14:33, 6 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I would say wait until it's truly official whether it's by AP or a concession (even though that seems increasingly unlikely on Trump's part.) Praxidicae (talk) 16:40, 6 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please read MOS:SMALLFONT. Infoboxes reduce font size to less than 100% by default, and making it even smaller violates MOS:ACCESS. Avoid using smaller font sizes within elements that already use a smaller font size, such as infoboxes, navboxes, and reference sections. This means that <small>...</small> tags, and templates such as {{small}} and {{smaller}}, should not be applied to plain text within those elements. In no case should the resulting font size of any text drop below 85% of the page's default font size (i.e. 11.9 px in Vector skin or 10.8 px in Monobook). Note that the HTML <small>...</small> tag has a semantic meaning of fine print; it is not used for stylistic changes. The other pages are wrong and I intend to fix them over time. There is also no reason to spell out the entire names of these people, which goes against WP:COMMONNAME. Thank you. – Muboshgu (talk) 01:43, 18 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Muboshgu, I do apologize for the misunderstanding, and thank you for the clarification. Nirvanaoreilly (talk) 01:47, 18 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No indication that this is a notable event, seems like standard reporting of this sort of thing.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Murder of Kevin Jiang requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. – S. Edit summaries[edit]

Hi. Would you mind using edit summaries in future? It's standard practice. I ask because in the Matt Gaetz article above there are over a dozen edits with no summary, so it is hard to see what is going on without examining each edit.--- Possibly (talk) 17:03, 31 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi Possibly, apologies, and yes, I will. I sometimes get caught up in the edits. Also, about the AfD, I do not have comment, but completely respect the decision of the more experienced editors like yourself. Nirvanaoreilly (talk) 17:08, 31 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks very much. For an article like that one, I think it's important to remember we are not news (we strive to be far behind the news in some ways), and to consider the WP:BLP advice of being extremely prudent. This bizarre Gaetz story could go any number of ways in the coming months, and an article is likely only appropriate when it's required because it would overwhelm the main article, and also because the facts are known. At the moment, too many of the facts are unknown or speculative, and could go in many directions.--- Possibly (talk) 19:57, 31 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting into Sandy Hook Memorial. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also.
