Help me!

Please help me with... I have inserted a significant amount of text into the article on Ambrose C Kingsland Ambrose_Kingsland, concerning his role in the creation of New York's Central Park. When clicking the "publish" button, I was not sure whether to make it "permanent" of whether there is some protocol for inserting an edit on a temporary basis to start with.

Also, I put the text of his initiating park proposal to New York City's Common Council in a footnote (footnote 11). I am not sure if this according to Wikipedia style, this would better be in the main body of the article.

This is my first substantive contribution to Wikipedia, so any comments would be most welcome.

There is no protocol to do a non-permanent edit in an article. If you want though you can make a copy in User:Nkings12/sandbox and there revise the text until you are satisfied that you are ready to add it into the main article.

I don't think pasting the source into footnote is required. If you would like to keep a copy of it for future reference, perhaps creating a new section at the article's talk page could be useful. If you're concerned about archival, it can be archived at http://archive.is for example. Gryllida (talk, e-mail) 22:50, 15 September 2021 (UTC)

Help me!

Please help me with... Some months ago, I edited an existing article, adding a lot of new detail. On rereading it, I realize my additions are unnecessarily long and I would like to shorten and simplify them (though leaving them factually unaltered). Is this OK and how do I describe it: e.g. "minor edit / shortening and simplifying my previous edit" - ? Nkings12 (talk) 22:11, 20 December 2021 (UTC)
