February 2011[edit]

It is possible that your addition of the image "Cnred1.jpg" is a violation of copyright. The picture has to be in the public domain, or available under fair use provisions. As per the comment here, you need to explain your problem/issue on the articles talk/discussion page.
• Please also note that the subjects of biographical articles on Wikipedia do not have control over the article. There are avenues for having corrections made. Regards, 220.101 talk\Contribs 17:46, 26 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not keep adding the image to the Coleen Nolan article until we can understand the provenance of the image. On the upload page you said you owned the copyright and as we treat copyright seriously and the image appears on the www.nolansisters.com website there is some doubt that you are the copyright holder. You really need to comment at Commons:Deletion requests/File:Cnred.jpg which is a discussion about deleting the image and you need to read Commons:OTRS which explains how permission can be provided. An easier way would be to add a comment on the www.nolansisters.com website clearly releasing the image as Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 Unported. Please note uploading copies under different names will probably cause them to be automatically deleted as we normally only have one copy of an image (normally the largest) on Wikipedia or Commons. Please work with us and I am sure we can help place the image on the page once the permission is sorted. MilborneOne (talk) 18:26, 26 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits[edit]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 19:11, 26 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the username you have chosen (Nolansonline1) seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of a group, company or website.

There are two issues with this:

  1. It is possible that you have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, you must exercise great caution when editing on topics related to your organization.
  2. Your account cannot represent a group of people. You may wish to create a new account with a username that represents only you. Alternatively, you may consider changing your username to avoid giving the impression that your personal account is being used for promotional purposes.

Regardless of whether you change your name or create a new account, you are not exempted from the guidelines concerning editing where you have a conflict of interest. For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. The article in question is Coleen Nolan. Thank you.

I give Up! Just another person never coming back to Wikipedia because of your petty bureacracy and ludicrous rules governed by idiots that are powemad and dont understand common sense. This page is about an individual who only wants a photo of her choice on it rather than that of someone who deoesnt even know her! Its a page about her and noone else so why cant she have the picture of her choice? Its her own and thjeres no reasons to block it . You are a bunch of f****ing MUPPETS. Never gonna come here again.

A bit dissapointed by your uncivil response which is likely to get you blocked from editing wikipedia, please read our guideline at WP:CIVIL. It all in your hands all you have to do is provide evidence that the holder of the image copyright has released it with a free licence. If you are working under the instruction of Nolan or her agents it would be an easy thing to do. Im afraid being uncivil just doesnt help so stay calm provide evidence of copyright release and the image can be added, thanks. MilborneOne (talk) 20:08, 26 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You are driving me crackers - what evidence do you need??? - I am her official webmaster - my name is on all the Nolans websites. I have permission to use the picture. Do you try to upset people on purpose because you are succeeding? The poor girl is upset because YOU wont let her put her OWN 3 inch sq picture on HER page. USE SOME COMMON SENSE PLEASE. Why is Wikipedia the most unfriendly, unhelpful and unreasonable website on the plkanet???

OK thats easy if you are the webmaster just add the info to the website that the image has been released as Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 Unported or other free licence that you wish. Please remember that you logged on as a new anonymous user uploaded what appears to be a copyrighted image so please assume good faith on other editors. Once you add that notice to the website they will not be an issue. MilborneOne (talk) 20:31, 26 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Also, we have no evidence that you are the webmaster. The requirement is in place to prevent someone from creating an account and saying "I'm their webmaster; put this picture up" when they are not the webmaster and do not have permission to post the picture.
You've been offered at least two suggestions on how you can validate that you are the webmaster or that Nolan has donated the image for free use. —C.Fred (talk) 21:14, 26 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

February 2011[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, but at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Coleen Nolan, did not appear to be constructive and has been automatically reverted (undone) by ClueBot NG.

  • Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Note that human editors do monitor recent changes to Wikipedia articles, and administrators have the ability to block users from editing if they repeatedly engage in vandalism.
  • ClueBot NG produces very few false positives, but it does happen. If you believe the change you made should not have been detected as unconstructive, please read about it, report it here, remove this warning from your talk page, and then make the edit again.
  • The following is the log entry regarding this warning: Coleen Nolan was changed by Nolansonline1 (u) (t) ANN scored at 0.951083 on 2011-02-26T20:32:04+00:00 . Thank you. ClueBot NG (talk) 20:32, 26 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Also note the automatic system is now reverting your edits as vandalism, please dont edit the article again until this is resolved or you will be blocked from editing wikipedia, we have given you enough warnings so please note my message above about the image and the easy step you can take to resolve the issue. MilborneOne (talk) 20:36, 26 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
In the meantime, now might be an excellent time to read the policies on conflicts of interest and ownership of articles. It is important to remember that no person owns the Wikipedia article that is about them. Obviously, they have a right to have incorrect or defamatory content removed but, apart from that, they don't get much say in what how Wikipedia covers them. If you can prove that you are in a position to relicence her image then that means that Wikimedia Commons can keep the photo, but it also means that you should not be editing the Wikipedia article. --DanielRigal (talk) 20:42, 26 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I dont want to read your stupid rules I just want to place a nicer pic on the page! Why are you all being so precious about this? tell you what - forget it - you are just a set of cyber bullies who cant see how much they are upsetting people for no good reason. How can you sleep at night? This is a form of bullying and in todays PC world i find it amazing you get away with it.

It doesn't work like that. There are many things in life that you can't do until you learn how to do them right. Do you think you would pass your driving test if you told the instructor "I dont want to read your stupid rules I just want to drive to nice places"? --DanielRigal (talk) 21:38, 26 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The recent edit you made to Coleen Nolan constitutes vandalism, and has been reverted. Please do not continue to vandalize pages; use the sandbox for testing. Thank you. ForeverDusk 21:07, 26 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think it is reasonable to assume that anybody who was genuinely working for Nolan as a PR or Webmaster would have some concept of copyright law and would understand that our rules are there to protect Nolan's copyrights from abuse, as well as protecting Wikimedia for being blamed for any such abuses. I also think that anybody who really did have the rights to relicence the image would get just get on with doing so instead of throwing a big strop. I don't believe that Nolan or her PR team are anything to do with this. Unless we see some evidence to the contrary I think we should assume this user is unconnected to Nolan. Any more trouble in the article space and it is final warning time. --DanielRigal (talk) 21:38, 26 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
