License tagging for Image:ParcAberporth - aerial closeup.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:ParcAberporth - aerial closeup.JPG. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 15:07, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

Duplicate images uploaded[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Camiknickers.JPG. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Camiknickers.jpg. The copy called Image:Camiknickers.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 20:29, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:ParcAberporth - aerial closeup.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:ParcAberporth - aerial closeup.JPG. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 11:01, 22 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for April 3[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Great Eastern Main Line, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Brentwood station (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

North Woolwich[edit]

Not a lot of people know this, but North Woolwich was historically in Kent even though it was north of the Thames. Map here Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 12:21, 22 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I did! Because both settlements were part of Kent, it was necessary for them to have different names. Hence Woolwich and North Woolwich. Source: born, brought up and lived in East London for many years. Normanthehat (talk) 12:30, 22 January 2016 (UTC)Norman[reply]

Sorry about the revert on North Circular Road by the way, I had things back to front. There are quite a few East Londoners on here, and it's always good to meet somebody else working in this area. I have gigged in East London quite a bit (including the Dublin Castle, Camden and various pubs in Hackney and the lack of any decent crossings over the Thames is really showing these days. Still, my kids like a trip on the Woolwich Ferry on a sunny day if we're not in a hurry anywhere. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 12:54, 22 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

When my Dad took me on the Woolwich Ferry for the first time - probably 1944 and probably the Will Crooks - passengers could walk through the engine room. As a boy it was fascinating to watch the gleaming pistons sliding in and out of the huge cylinders and the smell of hot oil. Now an elderly Chelmsfordian, I digress. 194.75.7.97 (talk) 13:47, 22 January 2016 (UTC)Norman[reply]
