Fair use rationale for File:P I T stage.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:P I T stage.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

Thanks for uploading File:DetroitRivercropped.jpg. You don't seem to have said where the image came from or who created it. We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.

Orphaned non-free media (File:MKSM6.JPG)

Hi N4L. I came across the template you created, {{Michigan counties}}, and I was thinking about adjusting it to be similar to templates such as {{Minnesota County Labelled Map}}, {{Missouri County Labelled Map}}, etc. I believe that format is easier to read. Also, the template is currently not functionally scalable - I would fix this as well (see doc for explanation of this). Comments/questions? Jujutacular T · C 10:47, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
- When I created the template for Michigan counties, I didn't really think to check other states to see if they had maps that I could follow, and I'll admit, the one I created didn't look too well or fit into the article. I went through and made a new one, {{Michigan County Labelled Map}}, to coincide with the rest of the templates for the other states. - Also, I added a insert of the United States map into the free space in the template to better illustrate the location of Michigan in the United States (just in case someone stumbled upon this article and didn't know for sure where the state of Michigan is located). If that doesn't fit well, then I can just remove it, but I thought it was a nice touch for the extra space (which most states don't have that extra space on their maps). —Notorious4life (talk) 16:44, 26 October 2009 (UTC)

I recently promoted List of counties in Missouri to FL quality, and I thought I would work on List of counties in Michigan in the coming weeks. Detroit River Light
A major problem with the NRHP database is its attribution of communities to places: they're frequently not in the communities where they're listed. You shouldn't always trust that a place is in the community in which it's listed, especially if it's listed in a place in another county. Please check the coordinates and see if they place it in the correct location, and if not, please make sure that the coordinates are correct, and fix them if they're not; once you know what the proper coords are, if you discover that they place the lighthouse in the wrong county, please move it to the appropriate county list. I appreciate the changing of "City or Town" to townships where appropriate; I've made the same sort of change to all but 12 of Ohio's counties and all but 20 of Pennsylvania's, and I plan to do the rest when possible. - Thanks for the respect, whether or not it's deserved :-) Do you own a copy of DeLorme's Michigan Atlas and Gazetteer? Frustratingly, it doesn't show township boundaries, but there's a ton that it does show, and you'll likely find it useful if you want to do this kind of work with other counties. You can find precise township boundaries here, and you can get them by putting in the township name in the search form here. As far as the light: go here and navigate to the mouth of the river; as long as you can find where the light is, you shouldn't have trouble discerning in which county it's located. Today's edits at the Monroe County NRHP list
First off — removing the house photo was an error; sorry about that. I'll put it back as soon as I finish writing this message. Secondly, try putting the bridge's reference number (82005048) into this webpage (run by WikiProject NRHP member Elkman), which gives you the exact NRHP database: you'll see that it gives you the listing code of "DO", which means that it was determined eligible but was not listed due to an objection by the owner. Sites like this are a reason, by the way, that we at the NRHP project have learned not to trust nationalregisterofhistoricplaces.com — there's no indication at their Monroe County list that the bridge isn't listed.
As far as the district — I removed it because it didn't show the district itself, not because it wasn't a good photo of the bay. Sadly, we simply can't get good pictures to illustrate many archaeological sites; among other things, that very problem is going to keep me from producing a fully-illustrated list of Union County, Ohio sites, and it may keep me from producing a fully-illustrated list of Champaign County, Ohio sites. - By the way, good job on finding the multiple property submission form that you mentioned in your note to me. MPS forms are generally good resources if you're writing about a property, but a property's inclusion in an MPS doesn't necessarily mean that it's listed, even if the rest of the properties are. For example, the Cross-Tipped Churches multiple property submission included many Catholic churches and church-related buildings in Ohio (complete list here), but it also included a single church in Indiana that ended up not being listed until two years after the Ohio churches. - Welcome to the project! You'll likely find the Elkman generator (to which we frequently refer simply as "Elkman") a very useful tool for many other purposes than proving that sites aren't on the Register :-) And thanks much for the compliments on the photos :-) I'm sure that I've been seen by passersby in the same way, especially when — like yesterday when I was in Zanesville, Ohio — I'm taking pictures of parking lots that are located where destroyed Register-listed buildings were located.
