Images[edit]
Regarding your recent uploads of Image:DCastle.png and Image:CBaldwin08.png, Wikipedia policy regarding Non-Free Images states that the following are unacceptable: "Pictures of people still alive, groups still active, and buildings still standing; provided that taking a new free picture as a replacement (which is almost always considered possible) would serve the same encyclopedic purpose as the non-free image." See Wikipedia:Non-free content#Images_2.
As such, I've removed them from all the articles you added them to (as well as your user page, where they didn't belong in the first place), and they will have to be deleted. The359 (talk) 02:41, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
- Request that the admin please grant two business days, and refrain from deleting the images. I should be able to establish contact with the campaign to secure an appropriate license to use the photographic images of Dr. Baldwin and Mr. Castle from their campaign. - Licenses should be obtained before uploading photos, not after. If you gain permission, the photos can be uploaded once more. As you do not even have permission, you can't even be certain that you will either gain permission, or that those granting permission might wish to use another photo. - All information on obtaining permission for images is covered at Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. If you receive permission, then "Fair Use" no longer applies and the image is most likely able to be used anywhere, however this may depend on the permission given by the copyright holder.

- "Fair Use" images can only be used on the article they are being used to illustrate. Hence, your image of Chuck Baldwin would only be allowed to be used on the Chuck Baldwin article. Any other use on any article or user space would violate Fair Use. The359 (talk) 03:14, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
Request for license sent to copyright holder[edit]
Regarding the copyright issue: I have contacted the National Campaign Headquarters for the Baldwin/Castle Campaign (Tuesday, 23 September 2008) by telephone, and was informed that the images are in the public domain. However, in the likelihood that this is insufficient for the purposes of uploading the images, I have also emailed Ms. Mary Starrett (the National Communications Director for the Baldwin Campaign) to the same end, providing her with links to images I intend to use, along with links to Commons:Licensing and sample statements of licensing and/or public domain release derived from Wikipedia:Example_requests_for_permission.
Upon receipt of an affirmative response from Ms. Starrett or other officer affiliated with the Campaign, I will forward the same to the OTRS for further review. Onos (talk) 05:26, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
- I have received a certification that the images at http://baldwin08.com/files/05-MED.jpg (image of Dr. Chuck Baldwin) and http://baldwin08.com/files/23-MED.jpg (Mr. Darrell Castle) have been released into the public domain by the 2008 Baldwin/Castle National Campaign Headquarters from the National Campaign Communications Director, Ms. Mary Starrett on Wednesday, 24 September, 2008.
- I have fowarded this email along with the headers to permissions-commons (AT) wikimedia (DOT) org per the instructions at Commons:OTRS.
- Request further review by an OTRS volunteer and/or guidance as to whether I can now upload the images with an OTRS-Pending tag and PD-Author tag.

- I believe it is covered here. Once permission to use the images has been obtained, you can upload them to Wikimedia Commons. Be sure to include in the upload information that permission has been sent to OTRS. Then email "permissions-commons AT wikimedia DOT org" and give them the URL of the uploaded pictures on Commons, then forward that email to "permissions-en AT wikimedia DOT org". Specify in the forwarded email which articles on Wikipedia you will use the images on (just Chuck Baldwin and Darrell Castle).
- I believe once all that is done you can add them to the articles. In your edit summary, be sure to note once again that you have submitted permission to use the pictures to OTRS. The359 (talk) 05:21, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
