W. M. Gains, Washburn football[edit]

Hi, I was trying to find info about W. M. Gains. According to a newspaper (Lawrence Daily Gazette, 27 Oct 1894), the head coach for Washburn in 1894 was Arthur Cane. An 1895 newspaper referred to Arthur Kane as the previous year's football coach. Other sources refer to Arthur Kane as a referee so it seems to be spelled with a K. I can't find any mention of a Gains or Gaines associated with Washburn or football. This conflicts with the official Washburn list used as a reference and so the current info seems dubious. —Kaliforniyka^Hi! 03:54, 1 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
