Copyright infringment, copy pasting, and notability

You've recently created two pages that appear to me to be largely copy-pasted from the organization's websites. Even if you reworded specific parts of those articles you're clearly copying over precise wordings from them. This requires at the least attribution, and in many cases isn't acceptable. And in the case of both of those articles, I have serious questions about their notability for inclusion. Also your recent image uploads appear to be without the requisite licenses. As a matter of urgency...

...I would advise reading WP:COPYVIO and WP:SPAM. It probably isn't your intention to advertise, but the appearance is what counts. As to copyright, I don't want to put you off editing, but I must warn you that repeated copyright violation can lead to being blocked from editing. Wikipedia cannot, for legal reasons, accept text or images that are copyright elsewhere. Exceptions are brief and acknowledged quotes, and 'fair use' of images that are unobtainable in a free form (more details in COPYVIO). If you do a rewrite, make sure that it gets well away from the original. Changing the odd word isn't enough. And remember that notability must be shown (see WP:GNG as there isn't a specific policy for competitions that I know of), and this must be backed up / proved with reliable independent sources WP:RS. I know it sounds complicated, but so are the workings of lawyers - and we want to avoid getting involved with them (unless they are editing here for free, of course...). Accelerate Michigan Innovation Competition

I think the problem is that however much you tried to sound neutral, it still came over like somthing written by a PR department. It might help if you had 'background' or intro section in which you say something about the problems which the competition is trying to address: another thing that would help is to have a good variety of sources, rather than relying on the competition's own website. As I recall there was some thingy on the page saying you had copyright clearance, but unhappily that, imo, made it look like a corporate produced effort. I'm sorry if the rapid delete was overly aggressive, but many many attempts are made to put up pages that are clearly the work of somebody who has created an account solely to put up a spam site: so knee-jerk reactions do occur. (some are so blatant that they create a username like 'Acmegizmo' and then put up an article about the Acme Gizmo Company. Maybe if you write the article in your sandbox & drop me a note & I could take a look & advise?.19:04, 22 March 2012 (UTC)

..You really need to say who gives the prize in the first line. Apat from anyting else, this will establish it as something not being promotd by a commecial concern. Copyright problem: Accelerate Michigan Innovation Competition
