Nirvana[edit]

Nirvana is not a punk rock band. Please stop adding the genre to the infobox. WesleyDodds 11:04, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's not about what we think; it's about what they are classified as by sources. So they're alternative and grunge. Certainly influenced by punk, but pretty much all of the American alternative rock bands of that era were. WesleyDodds 11:15, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Alt-rock is more than grunge. Consider the Pixies, Dinosaur Jr, Fugazi, Husker Du, the Replacements, Sonic Youth, etc. Alternative evolved out of punk rock, so it's bound to have some elements of it. WesleyDodds 11:29, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A lot of artists play songs in different styles. However, that does not mean they are of the genre. Plus, if we listed every genre an artist has played songs in the style of, we'd end up with the mess that's at the Prince page right now. If you wish to continue the discussion, you should do so at the Nirvana article's talk page, so that you can get feedback from fellow editors. WesleyDodds 11:49, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Binary Star (band)[edit]

I saw your question on JzG's talk page, and I figured I might as well answer, in case nobody's gotten back to you yet. The article's deletion log indicates that it was deleted as per criterion #7 at WP:CSD#Articles. In order for an article to stay here, it needs to demonstrate notability in one way or another. Some ways to demonstrate notability are listed at WP:BAND. Personally, I think it's possible to create an article on Binary Star that would withstand scrutiny, since they seem to have attracted a reasonable amount of coverage in second-party media. They have a page in the All Music Guide that would work as a source, and there are also some decent newspaper articles, such as this one in the Metro Times. Good luck, and please feel free to drop a note on my talk page if you have any questions. -Hit bull, win steak(Moo!) 23:36, 11 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • You may also want to note that we have some coverage of Binary Star in the article on One Be Lo. As such, you might want to try expanding the relevant section in that article, rather than re-create the standalone one. -Hit bull, win steak(Moo!) 23:39, 11 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Not a problem; glad to help. Just as a suggestion, it might make sense to create the article in a sandbox in your userspace (like User:Razorhead/Binary Star (band)) and let an admin vet it after you're done, just so they don't knee-jerk delete it as a recreation of a deleted page, or delete it while you're only partway through. You might also want to try a request for sources at Wikipedia:Newspapers and magazines request service; they can send you copies of anything that shows up in a Lexis-Nexis search. -Hit bull, win steak(Moo!) 23:49, 11 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Genres in album infoboxes[edit]

Hi there. Regarding changes like this, please note that genres should be delimited by commas in album infoboxes, and that most genres should not be capitalized. See WP:ALBUM#Details. Have a nice day. --PEJL 06:12, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You wrote:
You realize that almost no albums on Wikipedia have their genres seperated by commas, right? I mean I know it's the official policy, but most albums' genres are seperated by line, not comma. - Razorhead Augst 12, 2007
No, in my experience that is not correct. Most albums delimit by either line breaks or commas. It may be that line breaks are a little more common, but far from "almost no albums" use commas. This guideline was recently created, to standardize this formatting inconsistency, so it's not surprising that it hasn't been implemented everywhere yet. --PEJL 10:20, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I didn't know it was recent. That makes sense then that not many have implemented it. I changed De-Loused in the Comatorium to fit this format, and I'll do it to any album I come across from now on. - Razorhead August 12, 2007

A favour[edit]

Do you mind if i quote You? "The biggest difference between pop-punk and 'true' punk is that pop-punk is 100% non-political. Any band that even begins to approach political issues begins to shed the label pop-punk" This would help in my argument that Green Day's Album American Idiot is not Pop Punk, but Punk Rock.--Greenday21 (talk) 18:51, 4 August 2008 (UTC)Greenday21[reply]

Sorry, i forgot to mention that this was off the Anti Flag talk Page. You are the one that said this, Right?--Greenday21 (talk) 18:52, 4 August 2008 (UTC)Greenday21[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs[edit]

Hello Razorhead! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to this article, it would greatly help us with the current 938 article backlog. Disambiguation link notification for March 3[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Conor Friedersdorf, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Libertarian Party. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
